-
..as far as my experience goes. it could have been the fish that i bought. im not going to give up on it yet. there are a lot of others here who can eat it and do.

Day 5 Pre Op ...question
judych replied to singingmom2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
...when i was post op right up until about six weeks post op i had a distended stomach. its more to do with the fact that youve had surgery on the abdo than anything i think. i noticed this week that my stomach has flattened out heaps . i was operated on 22nd march. -
obviously what you are doing is fine. If its working o.k.. doing what its supposed to do, then dont worry. Congratulations on having such a smooth journey so far. i hope mine is the same.

im so sorry this has happened to you. they abused your trust. i hope that it all blows away very quickly. this is one reason why i didnt share at all only with two people.. hubbie and my youngest daughter. no one else. people are so fickle when it comes to lapband surgery. For some reason a lot of people feel threatened by others having it done. maybe its lack of self worth or weight issues that they have?? and not enough strength or whatever to do anything about it? One thing.. if anyone said to me that it was the easy way out.. there would be a verbal blast from me. its a hard road to hoe, but its well worth it. Sending you a big hug and i hope that you dont lose precious friends and neighbours over something that is none of their business. (( hugs )))

Next Stage...mushie Foods..lots Of Questions
judych replied to Yoly778's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
..ive read a lot about carbs and i agree with you. im trying to establish now what carbs i can eat. i must say though... i love beans, and chick peas. these are high in Protein, arent they? im thinking that i may, at least for winter, have cassaroles with a lot of beans in them. whats your opinion on chick peas and beans ect?/ do you have them? -
..and i dont want to have to start to be honest. what with calorie counting, carbs, fat, protein, sized portions etc it drives me to distraction. can you tell me how you manage without having to do all this stuff?? what you are doing has to be easier.

have you got a recipe for blue cheese dressing? i would love to try it and cant buy it here. thanks.

i just checked as well and would like to participate.... -
well, my experience was .... my first solid protein was fish... not successful at all. then i tried beef burgers, thin and no herbs or onions etc. it was beautiful. no problems at all with it.... so it was successful with me. the fish is more of a problem. perhaps im not cooking it right?? i did poach it but it was very dry i thought.. and yuk. anyway the burgers were great, but as i said, they were just plain beef, nothing added at all.

i vary. im supposed to just have 1000 according to my dietician... but its not enough. i vary between 900 - 1200 ... some days im about 1300. im not losing very quickly at all now... but my body shape is changing a lot. my slacks are looser now than before.. so something is going on. i have a fill next week. im so glad about that. im not sure whether to continue with the dietician or not. its costing me each visit as i cant claim.

What Size Portions Were You Eating Between Surgery And Your First Fill?
judych replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im finding im eating a good cup full now. If its soup im having a coffee cup full. solids about a cup. im hungry a lot of the time. i had a scrambled egg for breakfast... was hungry again by 11, thats about three hours. ive made home made soup and put beef broth, salsa, three tins of beans and chick peas in with some onion and slow cooked all day yesterday. its good but not filling enough. i notice here that someone said that a full burger is too much in one sitting? ive had one chicken burger cut up in one meal... its definately too much by the sounds of it. i know that Im not supposed to eat this much, its very hard not to. im finding that as i get full the pain comes back into my left shoulder blade. thats a signal to stop.Ro, perhaps, its a signal that ive overeaten ?? -
What Size Portions Were You Eating Between Surgery And Your First Fill?

i hate it too that we see such conflicting advice from drs. i wish there was a uniform protocol with them all, no matter where they are. -
Hi LadyBug... good to hear that its all goign well with you. So you had 3 oz? fill? ... i hope mine goes as well as yours did. im first fill on wed this week... may 9th.Im doing o.k. weight loss has slowed down on the scales but my tummy is shrinking and my trousers are getting more baggy so something is goign on. Im not weighing myself much ... just trying to do the right thing with eating now. i havent even been measuring my food... im just starting to think about food values now. I had a cold which made me very tired.. plus my elderly mum had major surgery three weeks ago so ive been thrown into the deep end with it all. Not good timing... but im coping thats the main thing. I have to say im feeling better as each day goes by. This time last year i was so tired and sluggish i could hardly put the day in and often didnt. This year im feeling so much better and doing more in the day now. Im not walking as much as i should be. Ive been reading about input vs output here and how much one can lose .... exercise is a very important part of all that.. so Im learning more each day. So, thanks for asking, im doing well. How is your job going?? do you have more energy now??

i agree with this. im finding as i get older that Im craving spicy foods more, so that suggests that the stronger flavours are registering more with my taste buds than a lot of other foods may be. i hate bland foods. so, i push it with chilli, paprika, curry, all that sort of thing. im 66.

Banded 4.18.12 And Frustrated
judych replied to susiedreamer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you are just coming out of the healing phase that your body had to go through. dont concentrate on weight loss but concentrate instead on new eating habits. weight will come off in time. first priority is to help your body heal by doing the right things. I was banded on the 22nd of march, and while my initial weight loss was rapid, its now slowed down. i prefer it that way. im feeling more able to cope healthwise . as i come up to my first banding next week, im happy with the body changes that are going on. Dont push it. First priority now is healing and learning all about the band and the new eating plan. -

5'4 Whats Your Goal Weight?
judych replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
whats the site?? -
i agree completely with this one. not only are you in healing mode but you are re educating yourself how to eat properly... small mouthfuls, chew, chew, chew, timing, and all that stuff. just leave the weight loss for now. one step at a time.

how many carbs?? iv noticed the amount of protein, now the carbs. ive not been given any indication on what to aim for .... not that ive worried all that much as ive been healing the last 6 - 7 weeks, plus re learning how to chew.. lol.. but, i have my first fill this coming wednesday and i will need to know a lot more about what is goign to help the weight loss the most.
