After Surgery, Do Any Of You Struggle With Still Eating Too Fast ???
judych replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im like it to a certain extent. i dont woof down so much but get impatient in between mouthfuls, plus the size of the mouthfuls.. things like that. But, having said that, there has already been a huge change with me in two months. Before, i would take big mouthfuls, chew about five times and swallow. ive come a long way since then, and im confident that i will continue to pick up the good habits that i need to have. If i dont, i can look forward to many ''episodes'' of being stuck or sliming. lol. -
Dont freak out over it. Put your trust in your dr.... he knows what he is doing . it may be just a temporary thing that will never need to happen again. Relax for this next week... remember, this dr is experienced in all things to do with lapbands. It could well be that this incident will never happen again for you. i hope it doesnt. meantime dont work yourself up over it. Try and think positive about it all. This is your first fill.... my first fill didnt work as i thought it would either, i had some issues. Sometimes it takes a bit of ''hands on'' with our ports and our bands until things work exactly as they should.Try and stay positive that things will be o.k.. promise??

3 Weeks Post Op
judych replied to Luv2sing920@aol.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
please dont let it get to you. I reckon everyone of us has been through similar experiences. i know how i was at 3 weeks... it literally is hell. Hang in there, dont let it get you down. each day is a new day, with you healing that much more, and that much closer to your first fill. Even two months out im making some poor choices. i would imagine a lot of us are. the main thing is not to let that dictate whether we are going to be successful or not. Remember , its a big life change you are going through, i believe its bigger than menapause ( sorry guys.. lol.). Put each day that has gone, away in the past. Dont dwell on it. If you do, it will dictate what you do today and tomorrow. Dont let it do that. You have every thing going for you right now. Hang onto that. TAlk positive to yourself every day. -
hi sunshyne... yes, ive tried it once. i had some lamb chops that i thought i would do in the slow cooker. that didnt turn out as i expected, but the meat wasnt good to start with. such a shame as lamb is very expensive. it was given to us.i havent tried anything else yet, but im going to tomorrow. i have a small parcel of minced steak i will put in the slow cooker. i love casseroles, if i could manage to eat the meat from them i would have no problems at all. Especially now its winter here. im starting to see now that the dark thigh meat is more tender than the lighter breast meat on chicken. i will remember to use dark meat in the cooker as well. thanks for the advice. do you have any recipes that you like cooking this way??

Restriction Getting Worse? Judych
judych replied to judych's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi Cocoabean. i did ask my dr about whether he put some fill in or not when i saw him post op. he said that he didnt. i had 3 cc's in one go. do you think thats too much? normally, i mean?? ive got a 10 cc band. i would have though maybe he would give me about half that to start with and see how i go??Im sure now that stress through the day makes the band tighter. i can eat with more comfort of a morning, thats for sure. i had some baked Beans for bfast.. a cracker with some soft cheese for morning tea and it all went down well. I dont want to have any fill removed if i can help it. i know that ive got to be sensible though... that too tight can cause damage. Plus the fact, i do want to be able to eat better than i am right now. My weight hasnt moved in days but my body is changing shape as i see it from day to day. I know that ive been having some slider foods... a little choc here and there.. nothing else apart from a little ripe cheese of a morning. but my weight hasnt moved. im goign to have to bite the bullet though and have some fill removed. it would be extremely foolish of me to try and ride it out. -
Post Surgery: Do You Have Problems With Carb Addiction ?
judych replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have been used to eating bad carbs beforehand then you will have withdrawal from them. With or without the band there is a withdrawal as the body craves the bad carbs. You should be eating good carbs anyway. just in smaller amounts. its the sugar and over processing in the bad carbs that causes the body to become addicted. I still crave some fat. its winter time here. i have a little ripe cheese every day. that satisfies me. i dont have much. im more sensitive to withdrawal from fat than from sugar based foods. WE are all different. -
Restriction Getting Worse? Judych
judych replied to judych's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have no TOM now... but ive noticed that perhaps the band is a little looser of a morning. i know that when i get stressed or if Im really busy or travelling then it gets tighter as well. It seems to be very sensitive. -
Restriction Getting Worse? Judych
judych replied to judych's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
aww.. this is so sweet .. lol.. it would be a miracle if i was ... im 66 . lol. i agree though, becoming pregnant would do it, as the hormones have a big part to play in how restrictive the band can be. -
wow... ive not tried pasta yet, and only a mouthful of dry wholemeal toast. how far are you post op to have pasta?

Banded On The 17Th Looking For A Buddy?
judych replied to ladyhawk01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ive just had my first fill... im having some problems with the band too tight at the moment... im back on liquids again until i get some fill removed in another 8 days. its been difficult trying to cope with the band being so tight. i think i was better when i was recovering from surgery. anyway, this time next week im closer to getting some fill removed. hopefully i will be o.k. then. i had 3cc's in a 10 cc band -
lol. thats the first time ive heard it called 'the general' rofl.. a good name. so you have had textbook sliming more than once?? ive had it once and i was so grateful that i was here on my own at home. How awful to have that when others are around. especially if out eating somewhere... im still not over the episode. it was such a shock. i mean... i did read some experiences from others here on the forum but ... really?? i had no idea it was that bad . lol. anyway, i do feel for you. i hope you dont have any more episodes. i wouldnt wish it on my worst friend. i didnt know whether to tell hubbie about it or not.. i did, and he listened and is taking things really well. I thought that he might go off and tell me that the whole surgery thing was not a good idea but he didnt. i guess because he is seeing the weight loss so far. anyway, i dont want any more episodes of sliming. its so gross!!

Restriction Getting Worse? Judych
judych replied to judych's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
..more thoughts on this one. im wondering now how much the dr will remove from the fill next week. i wont have my regular dr. can i ask him to take out a certain amount or is it up to them completely? i dont think i need any more than about .50 to 1 cc fill at the moment. i was feeling restriction when i was banded, I just needed a little fill. i got 3 cc's instead. way too much. -
well... ive got an update on the pork. Since my fill ten days ago i cant even have pork. for some reason pork was the only think that i could eat. dont understand that one. Anyway, no meat at all for me until i get a slight unfill. i had another bad go this morning... i wont learn. lol. its liquids for me from now on until the unfill. Like you, i get a runny nose when have a stuck episode. also, i start to sneeze a lot. its developing a pattern now. i must be inflamed because i cant even eat the thick Soup i made. i had to freeze it.

Is Anyone More Emotional About Their Weight After Surgery?
judych replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes it is normal.. hang in there. AS well as recovering from your physical surgery you have emotional healing as well. This will pass, im sure. I know what ive gone through. very similar. I didnt mention my surgery to anyone and im glad i didnt, mainly because i would have been the same as you if id had negative comments. You will even out though. AS long as you are aware that your emotions are all a part of the transition. You will do well. Give it some time. i know you will feel so good about how you are doing. I have pics of when i was slim and looked good. they are in my room. I did struggle for a while looking at them, knowing that the only way i could get back to even a semblance of what i was was to have the band. im over that now. So.. hang in there. you will be fine. -
Things Moving Through Slowly. Too Tight?
judych replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
how did you manage to put up with it for so long? -
well i dont want to have to give meat up completely. im looking at how i can tenderise chicken and meat more. ive found a good site. im going to try it out when i can safetly eat meat again.

hi Sunshyne068.. i agree with you. theres no point in stressing out about not walking or doing gym. at the moment its more than i can cope with anyway. Just working around the house, doing the extras , family responsibilites, all that, is enough for me. i would like to start swimming though, hopefully in a month or two. we have a great thermal pool about 12 miles south . im waiting for other family members to get involved and perhaps we can do it together. My dr wasnt worried about me getting any more exercise in. i talked with him about what i was doing. My band is still very tight. i had a few mouthfuls of food this morning and ive been wanting to throw up now for nearly two hours. its not nice. i shoudnt have touched the food at all. just clear liquids. i have over week before i get a small unfill. it will be interesting to see how much they take out. Im currently looking at site for chinese cooking, and how they soften red meat and chicken. maybe i can give that a go later on when all this is sorted out with my fill.

..more on this reply to you. how do you manage it when you get 'stuck' ?
