  1. rofl.. you make lots of rain. lol. way to go. for the first time yesterday morning i was able to look at myself in my underwear and able to show hubbie and felt confident. We both agreed how good i was looking. i havent been able to feel confident like this in years. im 66... so you are never too old.! lol.

    i wish i could explain it to you... i cant. at the moment im trying out lean mince cooked in the crockpot and its going down well. i cant eat fish or beef any other way yet. ive only had 3ccs so far. it took me two weeks before i could eat any solids much after the fill.

    i was banded on the 22.03. i had some restriction even though there was no fill at the time of surgery. ive now had 3ccs inserted, i do have a bit more restriction now than before. thats good you arent going through hell because of appetite. keep up the instructions on fluids that you have been given though. thats very important.

    perhaps your arent eating enough ? why dont you try up around 1200 a day?/ see how you go?? i do both... go from 1200 some days back to about 900 others and im losing.

    Coffee Question!

    i still have about three cups of caffeinated coffee a day.... i havent had any problems, its a diuretic though so be careful, especially if you arent drinking enough water.

  8. can you take some soup in a cup and some crackers? i did this when i was away all day from home. actually, i took the coup pack in my bag and just got a mug of hot water. that did me really well. Im assuming that you will be taking your protein drink?? you can prepare that and take it with you??.. apart from this, im not sure, you are still very early in your post op. any other suggestions anyone?

  10. it sure is... a bigger habit than i ever would have thought. Ive just finished my lunch... i had four oz of bacon with egg and it went down really well. This time, i cut the bacon into small fingernail size bites and ate slowly while concentrating. I really did enjoy my lunch. im full now but no discomfort. way to go.

    thanks for this. ive got two crockpots and ive always used them. im thinking that i will try pork and some more chicken in one. see how i go with that.
  14. ...added comment on this one. because you are at work, have you given much thought as to what you can take to eat through the day?? if you havent, perhaps others here could help you out with some ideas?
  15. oh yes... of course, you wouldnt be on solids yet. Dont worry about eating solids when the time comes.. you will do well. as long as you dont eat too quickly. when i first started on solids, or even mashed, i made the mistake of eating too quickly and it wasnt nice. it just felt so good to get something more substantial in my mouth again i couldnt help it. lol. but i learned. you will be fine. just take it easy though.
  16. all these posts are such good advice. the one thing that really stands out here for me at the moment is... DISTRACTIONS !!... i dont know about you but for decades ive either watched t.v. or read, or done something distracting while ive been eating my meals...or got too involved in conversation... it just became a life style. Now i think its one of the biggest hurdles that i have to contend with. The other day we were eating a meal when we had a visitor. i should have just put my meal away but tried to continue eating. Bad move.! because i was distracted the meat got stuck and i had a major episode of sliming and vomiting in the afternoon. it was so awful. Next time we have visitors at mealtime..(which i wish we wouldnt get... ) i will just put my meal away. Now im thinking it all through its definately distraction that is a lot of my problem. Hopefully as time goes by and the new habits kick in more i wont need to leave my meals for any reason,or i wont have to think about what im doing so much.

    ive foound that putting a banana into my protein shakes goes down really well.. i use vanilla flavoured powder and add a full banana to the drink.
  18. hi ladyhawk... im doing o.k... today im sore right along the base of my ribcage.. could be a tad of inflammation going on. I havent been walking for a while. its been busy enough for me here as it is and the weather is so wet. im getting enough exercise for now i think. Im waiting today to see how well my band responds to todays meals. up to now for the last two weeks ive had a lot of trouble but things seem to have changed for the better. i certainly hope so. i had 3ccs in a 10 c band. my first fill. i dont want any removed. my weight has stalled a bit, but thats how i am. it stalls and then moves again rather quickly. Ive noticed that i can get in and out of the car without any problems now, and bend over to do things without discomfort or hindrance.. lol... way to go.ARe you having any problems with particular foods at the moment? how much are you eating at mealtimes?

    i hear you on the chewing bit. ive chewed so much that all ive had left is ''string'' sorry.. TMI... lol. and ive just spat it out. Tonight will be interesting... im trying out about three bites of pork. see how i go then. thats a start.

    not necessarily... sometimes it can happen but mostly you should be o.k. just follow the rules about the size of the bite.. or in your case, the size of the spoon... how long you chew for (even with mushies, and i know its hard lol.) ... waiting for about 20 seconds for the eosophagus to push the food down, and then another bite. Dont worry about it. If you stress out you arent going to make it easie r for yourself. you will do fine, believe me. just make sure that your food is without lumps .
  21. i know what you mean by eating slider foods. i started doing that these last two weeks.im sorry that you have been so unwell. i can understand more now how the band does react to stress and sickness. boy... its sensitive. If anyone had tried to tell me all that before hand i dont think i would have believed all that. i hope that you are feeling better now... and that you hit the green zone really quickly. AS i type this its coming on midday on thursday. for the last 24 hours ive noticed a huge difference ... all of a sudden, and i dont know why.. in my eating. I havent had an issue with food being stuck in all that time. i had a very small amount of chicken last night. just a couple of mouthfuls. it was o.k... usually chicken is bad. I had a small portion of bacon with one egg for Breakfast this morning and that was good. mind you, i need to really look hard at how big my bites are now. So... im not sure for lunch.. perhaps some Soup? its very cold here. for tea i may have a little pork, a couple of mouthfuls, and a small amount of veges. this will be the deciding factor, how i cope today. if im able to get through today without the pain of food getting stuck, then im going to cancel my unfill scheduled for next thursday. i really do hope that i can eat properly now without any more problems. If im o.k... it means that after the fill i can expect to be on liquids for two weeks afterwoods... thats a long time. my dr suggested 24 hours. impossible for me. i know that everyone is different. i dont think im game to try anymore fish though. that was just awful. I dont want a repeat of vomiting like i had then
  22. ..lol.. what did you tell her?? ive had these issues as well with my brother and sister etc. i had to say that im re training myself in every way to eat differently.. lol... i get some odd looks i must say. Well?? its the truth.. lol.. just some little items i missed out on telling them.
  23. eating fast and being the first to get up from the table has been one of my big problems as well. Being in charge of the meal always meant that i ate quickly, got up quickly and did whatever came next. that went on for years. now im struggling way after everyone else has finished and started to clean up. lol. It feels really odd to have that happening now after so many decades.
  24. yep.. i agree completely that t.v. is a big no no. ive habitually watched t.v. all these years while eating and thats helped develop most of my bad habits, im sure. also, how can we really enjoy our food when our concentration is on the telly?

    hi everyone. WEll.. Im finding that two weeks out from my first fill im not hurting as much when eating. Mind you, i havent had any meat, apart from a small amount of bacon yesterday, oh, and a very small amount of chicken last night. There has been a distinct turn around in the last 24 hours. i never had an episode yesterday at all. Im going to wait this out until monday our time and if im still good ( and will try a small amount of meat) then i will cancel the unfill un thursday. iM hoping so much that i dont need to have any taken away. Im also cutting back to a 1/2 cup as of today. i think that maybe i was eating too much as well.. even though i was taking a long time to eat it. what are the impressions on perhaps having four really small meals a day? i know that its fairly common to do that. Not sure about banders though.
