thats fantastic... !! way to go. ! congrats !!

hi all. Ive posted already about being tight, not being able to eat meat and other issues. WEll, i kept a small portion of smoked cod from last nights tea. i thought i would have it for my lunch today and see how i go with Soup tonight as i seem to be tighter of a night. I had about five small mouthfuls of fish. Chewed well, waited. Then the discomfort started up all over again. Ive been getting this nearly every meal now...not quite so bad at bfast time but faint in the background. . The discomfort builds, i feel everything churning around. it comes back into the eosophagus, i start to salivate, get the hiccups,, all that sort of thing. Throughout this i need to swallow a lot. i feel like im swallowing air . its very very painful. i feel quite faint im so unwell. Anyway... (TMI... im sorry. lol.) ive just been through another episode. It kept getting worse and then projectile vomiting of mucus. i just had time to reach the loo. i just hate to think if it happened to me out somewhere. I feel better now. O.k.... so do you think id better go get some of the fill taken out? im worried now that my eosophagus may be inflamed. after all, its a daily ocurrance now. this is the first time i have had to vomit though. Ive decided to ring the dr in the morning. I have to go to the city on the 30th. i will make an appointment to see him then. Meantime its back to liquids i think. I cant got to the city before the 30th... so do you think just liquids from now until then? all input gratefully received. thanks.

Restriction Getting Worse? Judych
judych replied to judych's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
cocoabean... im really pleased to hear that you are well on the road to recovery after that sickness.. that was a horrible thing to have to go through. YOur surgeon sounds like he gives his patients the time so you can both talk as much as you need to. thats good. i agree about having small fills. its a better way to go, as we are all different and its unpredictable as to how we will react each time. i was so grateful to get over the 3cc fill. i didnt think i was going to for a while... i didnt want to have to make another trip to the city for an unfill. its not necessary now. my weight has stalled at the moment but im not stressing about that...i look good in my clothes again. I guess i will start losing again when im ready. -
i was having big issues before with chicken breast, fish, and most other protein, right up until about five days ago. last night i had some curried chicken breast, with some broccoli. i cut it up the size of my little fingernail , chewed about fifty times and waited. it went down well. this morning i had one egg with a half slice of wholemeal dry toast. that went down well also. My experience is that the size of the portion and the time spent chewing is well worth the time and effort. ive had one fill of 3ccs, and was having all kinds of difficulties until the last five days.

you did well to maintain your weight as well as you did. did i say that im taking my youngest grand daughter out on an 11 day cruise into the south pacific?? sorry, if ive shared already, ignore this post. lol. Im thinking now what will i do before we go. we fly out to join the ship on the 6th nov. Did you do any swimming? i intend to. hopefully by early now i will be looking a lot better in my swimsuit. lol. ive had one fill. ive got another coming up june 20th.. i will have that, and keep goign with the fills if necessary. ive read here that some people have a little taken out of their band before they go on cruises. i will wait and see how i am before i make a decision. i will talk with the dr about it all. Again.. you did so well while on board and all that wonderful food around. i hope i do as well as you did.

Air In Shoulders And Chest
judych replied to sandy.lyons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
unfortunately this is a side effect that most of us have had to walk through. plenty of walking.. gas strips or whatever other meds you have for gas.... and try walking with your arms above your head for a while.(llock your hands above your head)_ i found this helped me a lot when the gas was reluctant to leave. i didnt take any meds to relieve gas at all... i actually got myself through it. lol. im finding now that i get a pain in my shoulderblade when im eating and i have to stop or ease up. its been a real learning curve. Im sorry i dont have anymore tips for you... but walking seems to be the best way to move the gas. -
yes, i have.. its soothing for me sometimes and i look for the cold water instead of room temp.

My Legs Are Killing Me Is This Normal? 5 Days Post Op
judych replied to MammaRhonda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
your dr is so wrong when he says that there is no pain with a clot. i know there is because ive had them. Im assuming by now that youve had bananas... they are good. Also you can buy some potassium tabs to take. ive got potassium spray, ive had lots of leg cramps since the surgery and i use the spray. that eases the cramps within seconds. Have you still got the problems with your legs? -

when you say they are killing you, what are your symptoms? how long have they been hurting?? are you walking much? -
thanks... i got it. appreciate the effort you went to. will read through the recipes later on and write them out.... thanks...

it took me two weeks before i had the ability to eat anything besides soup and sliders. i think if you persevere and chew well, eat slowly, give it another week, see how you go. its more than two weeks though... do you think you need more removed?
-
your dr is more strict than mine was... but as it happens , i needed a full week of liquids. next time i will be doing just that. by the way... did you go on your cruise yet? how did you manage it all? im taking our youngest grand daughter on a cruise for 11 nights on the 6th nov. i will hopefully be in the green zone well and truly... i am interested to know how those of you who have been cruising got on?? did you get an unfill before hand?
-
hi Melvan.... i agree. its important to have a goal that is realistic. im not a fast loser and i dont mind at all. i can see changes going on everyday anyway. im hoping to be down another 40 pound by christmas. i need to lose about 50.

After Surgery, Do Any Of You Struggle With Still Eating Too Fast ???
judych replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mrspopeye..this is a problem that i think most of us have at least thought about at some stage. i havent eaten out yet at a decent restaurant so ive yet to deal with it. i know how it is at home.. hubbie eats way too quickly. isnt it amazing how sensitive we become to bad eating habits in others?? the way we once used to be? Hubbie and i have gone into fast food places, he has had a quick fix and ive had a cuppa Soup. that works well in fast food joints... not on in a decent restaurant though. Perhaps ordering a childs menu? i know that often they just have chicken and chips... ewwww... but perhaps its worth asking if they do have childrens serves. -

how long did it take you to come right after your 3rd fill? my second fill was a problem, it took me two weeks. -
no, its no way to live and would just end up with heaps of problems. at the moment im having 4 oz of protein. i had about 4 oz at lunchtime... chewing flat out. it took me about 40 minutes to eat it lol. i didnt have any other food for lunch. i am interested in trying the fish in the slow cooker. maybe even make a chowder? that would be interesting.
-
hi NWgirl... i hear you... good advice. thanks. its so hard for me to get up and walk away from what food ive got left on my little plate, considering that there was hardly anything there in the beginning.. rofl.. do you have that problem? so far today i can eat small amounts of minced beef. that means its mainly fish i cant eat at the moment . i havent tried tinned fish yet . im thinking of cooking the fish real slow in the slow cooker... see what happens then?
-
goodness... thats sensitive. i hope that you are back to normal now. this is very interesting. something i didnt figure out beforehand that we would have to contend with. last night i had some beef mince cooked in the slow cooker and it went down really well. i chewed very slowly and took my time. im so pleased that i was able to eat it. i think bit by bit im able to cope better. i dont want to have an unfill if i can get away with it. Im having more of the crock pot mince today. that will be interesting. will let you know how i go.

Not Losing Any Weight On Lapband Starting To Feel Discouraged
judych replied to Yolanda Swing-banks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
how much are you eating?? you may need to increase a bit the amount that you are eating. are you having about 1200 cals?? i know that everyone is different but it could well be that your body is in ''starvation mode" ? just a thought. Do you vary from day to day the amount of cals that you are eating? i find that its easier for me to lose weight if i do that.
