Gall Bladder Issues Post Op
judych replied to texas-bandette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its very interesting how many weight loss patients suffer from this. I wonder why the gall bladder starts having problems? I know there is dietary changes, but if the diet is more healthy and there is less food being eaten... why would it have problems? i must ask my dr about that one. Years ago i had xrays in that area... checking for gall stones and the drs found three calcified stones outside the gall bladder, just underneath. i have no idea what that was about. -

Gall Bladder Issues Post Op

thanks nenwskinnygal... yes, thats what i meant. lol. most of my problems are on my left hand side... i would say, probaby in the descending colon.. in that vicinity anyway. not sure if its due to spicy foods or not. i have to start eliminating foods now to see whether they are at fault. I did think that gall bladder pain was on the right hand side.. but wasnt sure about how much the pain travels over the body. -

Swollen And Painful Foot
judych replied to newskinnygal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i thought you must have sprained it. keep the foot elevated and put a bandage around it if you can.... take care.. -
buying the smaller utensils was a good idea. Dont beat yourself up. Im having issues at times still with taking very small mouthfuls. i think it can take a long time for our habits to change completely... and im sure that everyone here will agree . Just take a day at a time... if you take a bigger mouthful, take note of it and try better next mouthful. Are you getting too hungry in between meals? perhaps thats one reason why you are taking bigger mouthfuls? if you are hungry, why dont you try having four meals a day? a cup each meal... Protein first. Its worth a try. good luck.

you are doing way too much. Your body needs time to recover from surgery...and two weeks just isnt enough. Normally any surgery takes up to six weeks to recover from. plus the fact that your diet has changed so much... the combination of the two means that you have to be sensitive to your bodys needs right now. How much of this daily routine do you absolutely have to do?? if it were me, i would shelve for the time being, the things that arent essential. Good luck... and take it easy more.

Do you have any other signs or symptoms?? for example... continual tiredness? Is your hair still in good condition?? have you checked the inner lower eyelid?sometimes we can suffer from iron deficiency... but you need to get checked out. Dont leave this. its important that you find out now what is causing this.

no wonder you are feeling miserable right now. im praying for you... let us know how you feel as time goes on. Take is easy. hugs for you judych

What Just Happened?
judych replied to phoenixkristin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
...yes, it was a sliming incident.. and the pain is a part of it. If you only had one puking episode with it that was good... i had an episode on saturday afternoon and i was stuck for four hours with so many episodes of vomiting up slime.. it was awful. the slime is created by the stomach when it has difficulties trying to pass the food bolus through the stoma. I can eat crackers if i eat very small bites and chew until completely dissolved. At the moment you have two ccs more than i do in the band. -
this is right. I have a story to tell as well... this just goes to show that you can never be complacent about how you eat when out somewhere. Yesterday, saturday, i was in the city with my youngest daughter at a christian convention. About 70 people, at least i would say. My daughter was asked at the last moment to organize the kitchen for the day, as all food and drinks were provided. I helped out in the kitchen when i wasnt in the main room with the convention. Well.... we had an incident with an oven that was playing up... slightly overcooked some savoury food. I tried to save as much as possible.. there was a choice piece i thought i would eat instead of it going in the bin. Guess what happened?? you guessed it... lol.. i got stuck. BOY !!! ( i didnt chew enough....) did I what!! then, for the next four hours i was a miserable wreck. in and out of the ladies loo like you wouldnt believe. Sliming constantly.. couldnt bring up anything more than that. I felt so awful. I couldnt eat any tea either about 6 hours later)... not even soup. i hardly drank all day . Over night it all settled down completely and this morning i had soup for brekky.... so thats me... i should have known. NEVER EAT FOOD ON THE RUN... ESPECIALLY WHEN DISTRACTED... AS I WAS !! lol. judych

To Fill Or Not To Fill? Experienced Bandsters Please Chime In...
judych replied to OldMomOf3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it possible to have four small meals a day? it may be that less than 1200 calories isnt enough for you.. your body is being stubborn because it thinks its going through a famine. im learning now to stagger my calorie intake, and my protein intake, day by day. One day, about 1400.... next day maybe 1200 or less.. and on it goes. Its worth a thought?? what do you think?? -
have you put down on paper the amount of calories etc that you would have on a normal day? sometimes the body goes into shutdown if there isnt enough calories. if you are walking and working out in the gym then perhaps you need to look at how much you are eating. Im reading a book called the 4 hour body... and some of the info is really good. It talks about staggering the amount of food you eat from day to day. As well as, perhaps two days a week, just have protein. I dont know if this would help you out. Im sure there is a way around this problem though. No wonder you are getting frustrated. I find that by staggering my intake im losing more weight. my metabolism is very sluggish and it locks into ''no weight loss mode'' when i drop the calorie intake right down and keep it down.. It seems that eating a significantly different amount from day to day.. one day perhaps over 1300, the next maybe only about 900 or 1000, et etc does fool my body into thinking its getting enough all the time, and this is when weight loss occurs with me.

im so sorry you had this happen to you... but it does show how we need to be mindful of things that go on. i hope you are feeling better now as you would be home and recovering.... thanks for sharing. judy

great to hear that you are walking now... that will help no end. the UTI infection?? you may need some meds for that. meantime, voiding urine after sex will help you if you can do that. Constipation is a real issue here. You may need some bulking agent... your diet has changed so much that the intestine is trying to re adjust. im finding that taking one teaspoon of laxative with a bulking agent.. ie.. cyllum husks... is helping me best of all. ive had ongoing issues with bowels but they were always touchy and this radical change hasnt helped with stability with me. im doing o.k. now with some help though.

Is This What Getting Stuck Feels Like?
judych replied to georgia247's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
... i would say that the corn perhaps caused you some problems?? can you have just chicken?? if you want some carbs .... use some mashed potato?? its easier for you to digest. It takes a while for the swelling and soreness to heal.. meantime, dont use corn. Use cauliflower?? pink potato? even pumpkin?? they all mash up really well. i had them in abundance and they were easy to digest. -
...i was black around the port area and it was like that for at least a month. it goes away completely eventually. to look at mine now... four months post op, you wouldnt know at all. the swelling?? i looked pregnant for at least four weeks... but with any surgery in the abdo you can expect swellings like this for the first six weeks post op. my tummy is well and truly down now.

ohh... o.k. im in australia and the nutritionalist wasnt essential. she was recommended and i gave her away after one visit. i actually didnt need her for more. To tell the truth, if it werent for this forum i would have had to spend hundreds of dollars seeing her to find things out that im learning here...lol.

Protein Shakes Enough For A Breakfast Meal?
judych replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
...i think it all depends on your lilfestyle. for me, its not the ideal breakfast, but im at home, dont have to rush of a morning. i have an egg and a piece of bacon... that takes me nearly an hour to eat. its a long time but i like to just take it slowly first thing. If you have a busy morning then the drinks are ideal. When Ive had to rush out early ive used them myself. As a rule though, i enjoy my time eating my breakfast so i take the time and have a substantial meal. -

Drinking Water And Cheating On The Pre-Op Diet
judych replied to Jellyfish's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
.. regarding drinking water with your meals... i dont do it. probably right at the start if Im having trouble but not usually. i do wait about a half hour before having a hot drink. Also.. have the meal out with your friend. its important for you both. you will find that the band will dictate to you how much you can eat im sure. just dont try and push your luck with it though... take a doggie bag with you....lol. have fun. -
Band With Plication, Garlic Bread Made Me Sick!
judych replied to Courtney Danielle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had restriction after my band... with no fill. i was losing weight, but the dr decided to put 3ccs in. i have an 11cc band. it can happen that there is restriction without fills. if you continue like this, you may not need a fill. im wondering as well.... bread is so touchy with people. im four months post op now and can only very occasionally have a small piece of garlic bread soaked in garlic butter. then i have to be extremely careful. apart from that i dont eat bread at all.... i dont miss it either. did you take bigger mouthfuls than you should have? the size should be as small as your little fingernail. i know thats not very big but with food like bread you have no choice. as well as .... chew a lot, even though the bread seems to melt in your mouth. wait about thirty seconds before taking another bite. its not easy. one reason why i prefer to stay away from bread.
