  1. Absolutely! 3 weeks out I had awful shoulder and gas pain during an allergy attack, to the point where I had to have all of the fluid that they put in the band during surgery removed (3cc). I now diligently take my allergy meds and use the Neti pot when there is alot of drainage. (So it doesn't reach my stomach!).

    No Pop Ever. Really?

My Dr. And dietician said I can have soda, but pour it over ice and let it sit. I'm a diet mt dew addict, but I have had very little since being banded. Once or twice. I do coffee and water with mio in it, or tea with truvia.

    March Bandsters!

I'm an ICU RN. I was banded on the 7th and went back to work the 15th. A little rough, but I'm glad I got out and back to normal!

    March Bandsters!

Glad it went okay for you! I didn't see you there though! I had mine about 7:00and was home by 9. Gas pains sucked for a bit but much better now. The night before surgery we got an "explanation of benefits" email saying we owe 17,500 for the endoscopy I had! The surgery center said there's no way that it correct, and they haven't heard from the insurance at all. And the insurance couldn't really give me any info. And then to add to it, my mom got in a wreck driving home from my house and broke her arm in 3 places! . We could really use some prayers for the insurance thing and for my momma please!

I bought an iced frappe flavor of bariatric advantage on amazon, and it was sooooo gross. Made me nauseated, and felt greasy in my mouth.

What day did you start??? Wow good job! The nutritionist said since I am familiar with Atkins diet and have been successful on it before, I am allowed one carb free meal a day. He said calories don't matter, but I'm still trying to keep it 1000-1200, since that's what it would be on shakes alone. Are you using the True Results shakes? I am so far, but I know some people that kind of free-styled it with the shakes.

Band groupie, that's crazy! Same day, same surgeon! I've probably seen you in the office! How's your preop diet going? I've lost 5 lbs in 5 days!
  9. You order it like the coffee! It's very refreshing.

Dr. Carcamo is Dr. Wright's partner, so you are in good hands! I know several nurses who have used both surgeons, and I'm a nurse myself who has done a ton of research.

    March Bandsters!

Yvonne, I am having my surgery at the True Results surgery center with Dr. Wright. I understand they have an affiliation with Nix also. But if there is an unlikely emergency, they will send me to Methodist Hospital. I work there, so it makes me feel comfortable! I used to live in Killeen as a kid. Welcome!

    March Bandsters!

Hi y'all! I will be banded 3/7 in San Antonio, TX. I had an EGD 2/22, and luckily I have a hiatal hernia... So insurance will pay for SOME of this! I started the preop diet the same day. 3-4 protein shakes, and a zero carb dinner. My Denver omelet tonight was awesome! I'm taking a week off work, but only because my surgeon said I may not have the energy for 12 hour shifts on my feet. I have been feeling great, up until yesterday. We had a leak inside the wall in our kitchen, and now we have a huge repair to do. And here I just took out a $5000 loan for surgery. I feel pretty guilty, but it needs to be done! And hopefully homeowners insurance will pay for some of the repair?
  14. If you want to go to Starbucks on the preop diet, you can always get the iced black passionfruit tea with Splenda. It's not coffee, but it's yummy and you don't feel left out when everybody goes!
  15. I have my surgery scheduled for 3/7 with true results in San Antonio. I know 3 people who have used them with good results. We are all ICU nurses, and so far I feel comfortable with the care I have received. I'm not going to say I'm not a little nervous, but I'm confident it will be ok!
