Popsicles are wonderful anytime. I really enjoyed them right after my surgery. The cold is really soothing. Of course, living in AZ anything cold is nice. -
4 Day Post Op Lots Of Gurgling And Gas
scorpiolady replied to c945105's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, my alien baby makes all sorts of embarrassing noises sometimes. Not as much not as it did the first week but she's still in there. Keep focused on moving forward. -
LOVE IT!!! Just saying....

I'm taking biotin, lots of protein, and my multi. Hopefully, it will help as I really don't want to suffer from hair loss. One thing I wanted to point out is whenever you are put under, or put on different meds, you will see a difference in your hair and nails. I see it all the time with clients and sometimes it takes months to show up so people don't' make the connection with their surgery or illness. Have to say, I'm a little concerned about being a hair stylist with no hair. good luck, j~

125 Members So Why Are We So Quiet???
scorpiolady replied to brokenwings's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
we could talk about a running brook.......... seriously... where is our 125 members? Ya'll are out there. I can feel you lurking! -
summrsue, I'm so glad you posted. I haven't lost anything either (4lbs since surgery), although ppl around me say they can see it. HA! I've like to know where. But Deb is right, neither one of us has had a fill yet and we're still healing. I've also heard this is pretty normal until we get our first fill. Personally, it's frustrating because I feel like I should be losing for what little I eat. I also started my TOM AGAIN yesterday and my scale always jumps up when that happens so I feel like I back to square one. OK, so that was my debbie downer voice...... Now the rest of the story, I had my first "episode" with feeling any restriction Sat when I was between clients, hadn't eaten all day, and I took two quick bites of a Lean Cuisine. OMG! I felt like my chest was going to explode. Talk about crazy. I felt like crying, had the hiccups, couldn't talk and trying to be polite all at the same time. My client showed up right as I took my second bite and I had to excuse myself 3 times. Felt like I was trying to shallow an elephant butt first. Ended up getting rid of it, THANK GOODNESS! Not sure if it was the Pasta or the amount I didn't chew but holy crap I don't want to do that again. I've also heard fried foods are tough. I threw away the whole plate of food and didn't eat again for 4 hrs. and nibbled. Humble me now Lord! I think we all have to remember this is a process, not a quick fix. I also have to add that anyone who ever says to me that I took the easy way out better guard their chest. I may just punch them with all my force and say "how easy was that?"... KIDDING.. well maybe not totally. Deb is right... we have to keep pushing forward and blaze away. I just want you to know your not alone here. I'm counting ounces and the days till I get my fill. OH... my doc gave me meds to take for 30 days for the heartburn. Might want to call your doc. BIG BEAR HUGS Sweetness~

From Those Post Op To Those Pre Op
scorpiolady replied to gottobeme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Looking back I think I was expecting to bounce back a lot faster. Glad I took the week off the just relax and heal. I'm 3 wks out now and my only advice is don't expect to lose a ton of weight right off the bat. I have to keep in mind that I haven't had a fill yet so I guess I expected too much too soon with regards to weight loss. I just keep pluggin away and eating properly. I haven't really eaten any breads and so far I've done very well with that. A lot easier to give up than I thought I would. Pain wasn't horrible after surgery just general soreness all over. I only did the pain meds for 32 days so I really can't complain. Just be kind to yourself. It's a journey, not a quick fix. -
Removal Of Stitches From Banding In Tj---Help.
scorpiolady replied to lm79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded in TJ and don't have stitches, just the glue. I was banded by Dr. Ortiz and it went great. I will be going back for my fills as well. I would call your doctor and ask about it. -
I gained when I started eating food again and I'm still working on getting back down and I'm 3 weeks out tomorrow. Yes, I think it's just the way it goes. I can't wait to get my first fill now.

Sometimes you body holds onto fat because it thinks your going to starve it. Give it time.
-
Very well said summrsue! I lost about a lb a day until I started eating softy food, then I gained 4 lbs. It was hard but I also have to tell myself that I haven't had a fill yet. I know it's a personal decision but for me it was the right one. As far as reading all the failures, I choose to focus on the positive input and successes from SO many on this site. Yes, there are risks, yes I know it doesn't work for some but it WILL work for me. I decided that with as much certainty as getting banded. As far as not eating for 2 wks after... it's really not that bad. Honestly, the first week or so, I didn't want to eat. Now, I eat very little and I'm content. NOT starving. Again it's a personal decision but know that cold feet are normal.

I use milk normally. If I'm really treating myself I add fruit, fat free pudding, or yogurt and ICE. Makes them taste like milk shakes. My new BF is our bullet. Handy little blender.

I Can Officially Join The Springers
scorpiolady replied to Mzflaningam's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Welcome to the group! -
I started with mashed potatoes, soups, fish. I'm still eating soft foods and was banded 4/2. I don't feel restriction but I sure don't want to mess up my band either. Only time I find I have a hard time is if I eat too fast. Gotta slow myself down. I'm taking baby steps,

We're 75 members strong and counting Ladies! That's awesome. All here on different journeys with the same goal in mind. Get healthier, lose weight and enjoy the process. Thank you each for joining the group and supporting me. I'm really happy I have you all hear to help me keep my mind focused on the positive! So there was a thread going on about Non-Measurable Results, which was a big hit. I've been thinking it would be fun to think of (and share) some of the activities you want to start doing once you've lost some weight and gotten back in shape. Remember we all need to start exercising. If we give our exercise program as much attention as our diet over the next few months, we'll all be HARD BODIES! I want to water ski again! OH and dance too! Have a great day Springers! IT'S FRIDAY!

That's fantastic news! j~

I have told only a hand full of ppl about being banded for exactly that reason. I really don't want some skinny minny telling me all I have to do is run 5 miles a day and the weight will drop off. OKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY no! I didn't run laps when I was 12, why on earth would I want to do that now? I know I need to exercise but I know I never would have been able to get this fat off just with exercise.
