    Good Monday Morning!

YES I am sooo done painting. No, it wasn't 112 yesterday, it hit 113. No haven't weighed this week yet. Decided I was getting a little OCD about the whole number thing. Yes, in the fine print it was Monday and over all I had a great day. How about you?
  3. 1. Is there any specific foods you can't eat because you can't tolerate them? (not because they aren't good for you) Yes, Pasta, breads, thick crackers and dense food. I have a hard time with boiled eggs, the stalks of broccoli or any veggies that are under cooked. I haven't tried eating bread since my surgery. 2. Very random, and may sound stupid, but can you do all the rides at amusement parks, I mean before the band my tummy use to feel all funny (in a good way) so just wondering because I love park rides! I plan to! 3. After reaching your goal weight, have any of you thought to either completely unfill your band, or have it removed voluntarily to avoid future issues? (erosion, slippage etc I was thinking about removal before surgery but not now. 4. Is there something I should be asking that I am not, or something that you never thought about that you couldn't or weren't able to do? Ask as much as you want. This forum is awesome and everyone here is more than happy to help and support you! I can't think of anything I can't do other than eat too much which... was my problem all along. 5. Is there anyone who didn't have to get a fill ever? I mostly see people with anywhere from 4-6 fills, and I am self pay and that cost just freaks me out? I'm self pay and I just considered the expense of the fills as part of my surgery. My doc is a little different than most. He only wants to do 2 or 3 fills in my life time so I'm ok with that. I'm losing slow but that's ok as long as I'm losing. I'll get a fill when I've lost more and don't feel any restriction and then I hope to lose the rest and maintain. From the time of surgery until you first fill is what many call "Lap Band Hell." It's a time for healing not losing. Which is exactly what I did. By the time I was able to get a fill, I was more than ready! 6. After getting a fill, how long are you on the liquid diet again? I didn't follow it very well but 2 days. 7. As of now it is very painful and uncomfortable to cough, let alone throw up, so anyone who has vomited is it painful, or just how it use to be before getting banded. I am terrified of throwing up! I haven't been sick yet but understand the concern. 8. What exactly is a PB, I know it stands for 'productive burp' but what does that mean?!? I think it's when you burp to help the food go down but I'm a newbie too. Anyone? 9. What is slime or sliming? Sounds nasty. I would be so embarrassed if that happened at a restauraunt...I think? ? I should know but I don't. 10. Is there anyone else who only had around 50-55 lbs to lose? At what rate did you lose your weight? And what was your diet and exercise routine? Yes, me. I'm losing very slow but I have to remind myself that slow is good and at least I'm losing. My diet is pretty normal. I try to eat at least 3 meals a day and not eat too much. I focus on getting lots of Protein. Exercise isn't my strong point unless you think of house painting in 108 degrees as exercise Yes, Arizona is HOT! Hope my answers help. There are so many helpful people on this site! You'll get tons of help and support here.

    Pain :(

I still have a little bit of port pain if I lift something too heavy or to strain on that area. It went away for a while but then I slept funny or pulled in somehow and it hurt for a few days. For me it was my sign to take it easy. Take care of yourself!
  6. I doubt you could get rough enough to cause the band to slip. I think of the band as a rubber band on the middle of a balloon. If you put too much weight or pressure on the top half of the balloon or try to push too much through it would cause it to slip. The band is located in the middle of your body. Not sure what you could do physically to force slippage during sex. Just my 2 1/2 cents here and there is no such thing as a silly question.
  7. Yes I've been stuck a few times. NO BUENO!
  8. down another .6 oz. I'll take it. I want to get below 190 by next week. That's only 1.6 lbs. Wish me luck!
  9. I had a haital hernia repaired at the same time I was banded and I don't think it made any difference in my level of pain or my recovery. I was all over sore for a few days (gas pain) and had port pain for a few weeks which I've heard was normal. One thing I have noticed since my surgery is I haven't had heartburn once since it was done and it doesn't matter what I eat. I never realized how bad my heartburn was until it stopped. Nausea seems to be a common side effect from surgery. Hope this helps. j~
  10. I'm doing pretty good. Wish more people from the Springers group would post but it's nice to have the support from those who are still around. Ya get sorta attached to you closest band buddies I'm planning my meals, packing my lunches and working on keep my protein up. One ounce at a time! j~

Anyone? Am I The Only One In April?

    I love turtles! Thanks Deb!
  12. I've decided it's just too hard to weigh myself everyday. I'm going to focus on my food intake and stop getting frustrated because I'm only losing an ounce or 2 a at time. I was really hoping to lose more weight faster but like the old song says: "You can't always get what you want, and if you try sometimes you'll find you get what you need!" TURTLES UNITE! julz~ <<<pushing the scale under the bed

Anyone? Am I The Only One In April?

scalico I'm in the same boat treading water I'm down a few ounces and gain a few the next day. Back and forth like this since my surgery. I was hoping after my fill it would change but I don't feel a ton of restriction so I just keep hoping for the best and keep my food intake on track. Your not alone!

    Nausea: Is This Normal?

I did not have any problems with nausea. My only issue was with port pain and if I lift anything too heavy (like a 5 gallon paint can) I can feel it pull. I am curious what your NP has to say. Hope it gets better! j~

    Still Struggling With Body Image

I'm probably a bit older than most of you but it's all about how you feel about yourself. My lowest weight was 128 lbs at 5' 8". Years ago, but I still remember feeling FAT and lumpy. How the hell could I have looked fat when I was so small? Looking back over my life and the years I've struggled with weight even if it was only 15 to 20 lbs., I had to learn it really doesn't matter how much I weighed but how I felt about myself. I was married for 25 yrs and sex came and went depending upon the tides. It happens. Don't base your self worth on what others may or may not think of you. If you feel beautiful, others will see your beauty. I know its much easier to say then do, but loving yourself regardless of your weight and folds is process. Being single now (6 yrs) and dealing with being heavy has been a great eye opener for me. I've had to learn how to love myself regardless of my current numbers and this reflects on everything I do. If I feel good about myself I project that energy to the world. When I look in the mirror now I focus on getting healthy both mentally and physically because I love myself enough to make the effort. Hope this helps and isn't taken as me being full of myself. I've had a low self image most of my life and deep inside I know it didn't have anything to do with my weight or my body. Be beautiful!

    Shout Out Request

I think we need another shout out for your surgery dates! Room is getting way too quiet with all the newbies too shy to post and the others being stuck in "lapband hell" not wanting to share. So ... 1. What's your surgery date? 2. If your post op... how ya doing? I was banded April 2, and just waiting for the first fill. Very frustrated because it doesn't seem to matter how much I do or don't eat, I'm stuck at exactly 200 lbs. My fill is scheduled for May 21 and I'm not nervous about having it done at all. Just want to get this ball rolling. If ANYONE out there is not losing right after surgery and feeling discouraged... know your not alone!

    Shout Out Request

I decided to try on an old pair of pants I haven't been able to wear for 2 yrs yesterday and they fit! Very exciting to hit those tiny milestones! So maybe if your not losing weight, you are losing inches? Might want to check!

    Cheating: Should I Confess?

Personally, I didn't do the liquid diet before surgery. I was allowed one low carb meal per day and had my share of last meals. I know every doctor is different but seems to me if you've lost weight that would be enough. Confession because of guilt? NOPE, just stay strong the next few days. After surgery you won't want to eat.
  25. Great advice Elizabeth! Yogi 15 lbs is great. I'm at about the same as you and if I think back to how much I struggled and failed prior to surgery it helps me realize how well I'm doing now. I'll take what little weight I've lost as a victory and remind myself that losing slowly is better than not losing at all.
