I was banded on 3/27/12 and have done great. My last fill was about 5 weeks ago for a total of 4.5cc. I've noticed with this fill if i take to big of a bite or swallow too much it gets stuck and hurts until it works itself down but thats only happened about 4 or 5 times. Today is different. I noticed around lunch my chest started hurting right between my breasts and kinda radiated to my back and gets a little worse when I take a deep breath. I ate lunch anyways and about 1/2 way in to my cup full of food it got worse so I stopped. That lasted a few hours and it eventually died down a bit. At dinner the same thing happened, a few bites of food and Im hurting pretty bad again. I dont have a gallbladder so I know it cant be that. I dont have any reflux or vomiting. What could it be? Prob will call Dr tomorrow but he's 2 hours away so trying not to over react.

I don't drink for an hour after I eat per my MD instructions. Every once In a while I will have a few sips. When my food gets stuck it just hurts. No vomiting or PBing. I don't think it happened recently enough to be causing the pain?? I am feeling better agian but it's been about 3 hours since I ate dinner. Just nervous about messing something up since I seem to struggle with slowing down and chewing slowly. I only eat the right portion size but I eat it faster sometimes than I should. Don't want a slip!!!!

When Do The Dr Visits/fills Stop??
JRPRN replied to sHeLLaBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am self pay and questioned my dr about this yesterday as I am 2 hours away. They said the more fills you receive the less you should have to come. Right now mine have been every 4 weeks but she said this time I could push it back of I felt I was doing ok and losing weight. She said to come at least every 8 weeks to be checked and be weighed. -
Banded on 3/27 and have 4.5cc and I've never been stuck either

Had my 3rd fill today bringing me to 4.5cc and restored my faith in the fill center I go to. 2nd fill was awful!! Hoping this fill will help with some of my hunger. I already eat the right amount just get hungry more than I would like. I'm only 38 lbs from my first goal which is 150. I started at 225 about 4 months ago. Now if I can just make my butt get on the treadmill

I don't know what happened to me today! It started off good with my protein shake for breakfast and went downhill from there. I felt extra hungry today. Had a small piece of thin crust pizza for dinner and felt full but before I knew it a few hours later I'm having another and then a small piece of cake then later a 3rd piece of pizza and the icing off a cupcake. It is really insane when im thinking about it. I haven't ate like that in 4 months!!! Tomorrow I will be back on track but I'm just thinking wtf happened?? Where did that come from?

Congrats!!! Keep up the good work

I was banded on 4/27. I have lost 33 lbs but I have been stuck for the last 3-4 weeks. I had my 2nd fill which put me at 3.5cc. At first I could tell a difference buy now I feel like I'm hungrier than before. I haven't lost anything since my fill at the beginning of this month. I do eat some food I prob shouldn't like wheat thins, or a few fries but not enough to stall me I wouldn't think. Hell I can't eat that much!!!! Im trying to take it slow with my fills bc I live 2 hours away from my dr so I don't want to have to drive back for an unfill but I am starting to get discouraged. I am 3 months post op and this for sure can't be all the weight I'm gonna lose.

Congrats!!

I don't log my calories everyday and I'm not super strict with my diet. If I want something I just have a few bites. Obviously I've never been able to stick to a strict diet. I do measure my food and I'd be surprised if I am able to even eat a full cup of food. I could step up my exercising. I do find it hard to get all my protein in bc I can't eat that much so I feel like I would have to constantly eat to reach my daily protein goal. Everything has been going so great and a lot smoother than I ever thought so I guess I'm just scared that this ride is over and I'll have to do it on my own from now on.

I had my 2nd fill almost a week ago bringing me to 3.5 cc I haven't been able to eat as much and a few times I haven't chewed well or swallowed too much and it leads to a severe pain in my chest and tonight I felt like I was gonna puke. Never had this prob before. Will this go away? I know everyone is different but most people say they don't have any restriction until their 4-5 fill. I can't imagine having anymore than this so does it eventually ease up or am I where I want to be?
-
Thanks!! It def made me not want to let that happen agian...I've noticed I get a slight pressure in my chest sometimes when im eating. I assume this is my body telling me to stop but sometimes it's only after a few bites. I worry about how I'm to get all my protein in when I get full so quickly.

Just left the office after my second fill. It was performed by a nurse practitioner. She had a hard time accessing the port. I think I was stuck 3-4 times. She attributed it to my position on the table. She had someone come in and assist her with holding the skin down and port in place and she says she got it. I did not feel any fluid enter the band which I did with my first fill. So my question is can you miss and if she did where would the fluid go? I didn't feel anything different when I drank my water which agian I did the first time. I went from 2cc to 3.5 bc I live 2 hours away so I want to take it slow to ensure I don't have to come back for an unfill. My surgeon did the first fill so I guess I felt more confident the first time. Just some extra info my port is located in my left breast. Any suggestions or similar experiences??

I am pretty sore today. Large bruise and about 5 injection marks. Don't know of any of those r from the 2 lidocaine injections I received. Let's isisisjust say I'm not feeling to confident. Really scared of my next fill actually.

I am 3 months post op and have had one 2cc fill. I can eat anything just in much smaller quantities. I am concerned that sometimes if I eat to fast or am not paying attention to what I am doing I tend to over eat. When I say over eat it still is only about 1/2 of what I used to could eat. I immediately feel guilty and not to mention miserable for the next few hours. I can deal with that but it scares me that I might be stretching my pouch. This does not happen very often but it still scares me.

Thanks everyone. Maybe I have just forgotten how bad it feels to over eat and be stuffed. 2nd fill is tomorrow morning. Maybe it will help some

If your not supposed to drink for an hour after eating can u eat cereal? I just found a Kashi cereal with a lot of protein in it and was just wondering if it was ok with milk
-
I've also got 40 more to go....we can do this!!!!

It seems like I realize I am fuller when I stand up after eating. I try to stop before I feel full but then I get up from the table and I feel stuffed as soon as I stand. Seems crazy to me. Anyone else notice this?

Hey..who Is 3 Months Post Op??
JRPRN replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded 3/27 and down 32 lbs.... Struggling too recently with snacking and making right food choices. One 2cc full so far and next one scheduled on 6/3. Maybe that will help -
I woke up from surgery with hives and kept them on and off for about 2 days post op. Benadryl helped and then they just went away.

I know most Dr's say no carbonation but I was wondering if there is any bandsters here who still drink beer. I gave up soda but I have had a few beers on 2 different occasions and wanted to hear from anyone who has been banded for a while and is still able to drink beer or if anyone has had problems bc of this.
-
Thanks guys. I haven't noticed any problems when I drink beer. Granted my tolerance was never high pre lapband so I can only have 2 or 3 over a long period of time and I try to take small sips.

Gas Gas And More Gas!

My Dr said to try papaya enzyme... I haven't tried it but his office staff swears by it and a friend of my moms says it made a world of difference for her. -
Not only in onederland but the scale said 198....I can't believe it. I'm really here and ready to keep going. Days like this make this journey easier! From 225.7 to 198.6 and bp is great without med in a little over 8 weeks. Thank you lapband
