Feel bad about this morning for snapping at my hubby because I can't eat. This PreOp Diet is HELL on wheels!!
-
Today, March 19, 2012 is the start of a new life not just for me but my family as well. Today marks the beginning of a life for health, fitness and well being. When I started this journey on February 17th, I never thought that I would be here based on all the things I have heard and seen. Hearing my husband stating he would have to wait six months and reading his information, who would have thought that a month later I am starting my PreOp Diet. However, when I think back over my life, in 2002 I started Hydroxcut and lost 60 pounds and gained it all back with the birth of my son in 2003. In 2009 for one solid year, I took Adipex and lost 30 pounds and gained it all back. In 2011, I was a contestant in the Genghis Grill Health Kwest and lost 13 pounds and gained. So for almost 10 years, I have been trying to get this weight off and nothing work. I have decided to put my fears aside with this being a major surgery and starting to concentrate on what God has prepared for me ahead. This will be a huge milestone, but I am so happy I have the support from my husband and mom which means the world to me. To the wonderful support system on LapBand Talk, you are the absolute best anyone can ask for. Yes, the next two weeks will be hard but I will make it even with me being sick right now. What I realize this morning is that it will be better for me to prepare everything for me to eat during the day to avoid eating the junk foods at work. But I am going to enjoy my soup and salad tonight like no other!

Preop Diet And The Journey Begins!
Ready2BFit commented on Ready2BFit's blog entry in Ready2BFit's Blog
OMG!!! Yesterday was so hard until i went to bed at 8pm just to keep from eating. Are we to be concerned about sugar as well? I have decided to track my fat, calories and protein to ensure my diet is low calories and low fat, but the sugar content is extremely high. However, I did manage to get at least 68 grams of protein. My bariatric coordinator wanted me to get between 40 and 80 grams since I am concern about losing my hair....I worked hard at it. This morning i am drinking a Yoplait Greek Yogurt Smoothie which has 14 grams of carbs but only 2.5 grams of fat with packed with 30 grams of protein especially since I added a scoop of vanilla whey protein. Sometime today i am going to call my coordinator because there is only so much oatmeal, salad, fruits and vegetables I can eat within two weeks. I wonder if I can have wheat bread just one slice. -

How Did You Tell People?
Ready2BFit replied to lbugher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My SO was extremely supportive and right now on his second month for the supervised weight lost program. Just let your SO know the importance of getting the procedure and how it will affect both of you. The only individuals I have told are two people at church, three sorority sisters, two people at work (boss and secretary) and of course my husband and mom. They are all very supportive and understand my reason for doing it. At the end of the day, I have stated to my husband that I will not post anything on facebook or twitter but just allow people see my transformation. I actually have a friend who I think did the procedure but she won't say anything about it and that is fine because i see she is happy. Just tell those whom you truly want to know and will be supportive. -
Had Lap Band Surgery On Feb. 24, 2012----My Story

Congratulations on such a great accomplishment. My surgery is April 2nd and I am just praying everything goes well. -
With my surgery on April 2nd and having to start the preop diet of low to no fat diet on Monday, I have been horrible for the last week. My inside tells me that I am wrong but I know once I have the surgery that I won't be able to eat anything good for a while. Has anyone else done this?
-
For me my last supper was on last night which was a Grilled Chicken Ranch BLT, Fries and a Sprite from McDonald's. Remind you that is the first soda I have had in about two years. So today, I am actually going to start my preop diet two days early but the hard part of no meat is going to kill me but I am going to do it and not worry about it. Please let me say that you all have been a tremendous blessing to me over the last month. I thank you so much and just want and pray for the same success and blessings for you. Off to a protein shake and orange.

Congratulations and I am so happy for you -
Has anyone thyroids affected them from getting the surgery?

Thanks everyone. On yesterday I talked with my new PCP and he stated he didn't feel anything but still wanted me to see a specialist. I just want to make sure everything is okay and my health is fine all the way around.

Well I received my PreOp diet on last week and wanted to start three weeks before to be careful but I have eaten bad this week. My diet starts on Monday and it is a low fat diet with no meat including chicken and fish, no starches and only veggies, fruit and wholegrain. Of course, I will be heading to the store on Saturday to have a day to myself and push the cart all around Sam's. They don't have the best whey Protein but I will just have to down the tub. I have to eat three meals and in between each meal have a Protein Shake. I am required to have between 40 and 80 grams of protein a day. This will indeed but a huge task for me but trust me I don't want them to hit my liver so I am even adding exercise to my PreOp diet plan. I am hoping to be down at least 10 pounds before surgery if I can. We can all do thiis and we will do it!!!

When was your surgery and how much have you lost?
-
Well a year ago they found a knot but there was nothing and I haven't been back since. I'm thinking about going back after my surgery. Just want everything to be fine.

Hello to my fellow Springers. I have been scheduled for an April 2nd surgery date and just trying to wrap my head around everything. Right now, the only thing I have to do is schedule a PreTest (Blood work) and a PreOp Appointment; not sure why a Pschy Eval. nor Nutritionist visit isn't required. However, I am going to schedule a nutritionist visit on my own before the surgery. My bariatric coordinator has been really helpful and even tell me about the PreOp Diet that I will have to do two weeks before the surgery. She even informed me that I will have to get in between 40 and 60 grams of Protein in within that first six weeks. Therefore, I was wondering if you can tell me where I can get great protein shakes because this will be new to me and I will need the support.

Okay, so I am heading to Smoothie Factory and was wondering what is the best protein shake? I haven't tried Smoothie King but know the Gladiator is the best so please help!!

What is really going on with me? I have taken the liberity to read and view as much information as possible about the surgery. My last surgery was in 2003 for my gall bladder and everything turned out well and I was heavier than I am now. But right now, every scared thought is in my mind from a heart attack, blood clots, stroke and the list goes on. i don't want anything to go wrong during surgery but I have to realize that my surgeon had done this many times on individuals and I don't understand why I am stressing. This is a phase I don't want to think about since I am three weeks before my surgery and want to have an open mind. On today, I had a long conversation with my mom and she is really supportive and it surprised me but I know she understands it is for my health. Being a mother, I just want everything to be fine and maybe I am just being afraid for nothing. Anyone else dealt with this type of feeling?

Thank you all so much for the remarkable comments and encouragement. This is indeed a huge emotional and stressful roller coaster but with God's help and my continued prayers I will make it. I think as this as just a test and in the end I will win. You all truly are greatly appreciated and your words are not void.

Thank you very much for sharing.

Three weeks ago yesterday, I started this journey visiting my surgeon to talk about getting LapBand based on years of being obese and doing the yo-yo diets. In my mind, I never wanted to have anyone do a surgical procedure to help me lose weight because I thought I could do it on my now. But with a supportive husband, here I am now three weeks before my surgery date and reading all these documents and mandates from my surgeon. At times it feels overwhelming but I know I can do it. Instead of doing a two week preop diet, I have decided that I will do two and a half just to make sure everything is okay. I would be lying if I said I not nerves when I know my heart is jumping fast. 24 days and counting!!!
