    Honey I'm Home :)

So happy to hear that everything went well for you. With my surgery on Monday as well, I must admit that I didn't have much gas but it sounds like there is a battle going on in my stomach. Please note that the pain around the port is the greatest right now and I take my pain meds at least once a day around 11 so that when it is time for bed I just deal with it. Trying to sip 2 ounces every hour in addition to the water is hard. But what I have found to help is the sparkling flavor water from WalMart. Unfortunately I can't have jello but the broths, gatorade, popsicles and water are my best friends until Sunday. But let me tell you that I made a mistake and drunk to much and OMG my chest was hurting. I waited for about 20 minutes before I had anything else. As my bariatric coordinator stated, sipping is important since my baby stomach only holds 1/2 cup of food at a time. Trust me I am learning each day.
  9. Good morning everyone. Well I am officially band as of 9am Monday morning. It was indeed an experience I will remember. I arrived at the hospital around 5:47am and the procedure started at 7:30am. My husband stated that the surgeon talked with him at 9am and stated I was doing well and heading to recovery. By 11:30am, I was in my room and walking around by 3pm. I was in alot of pain at the port site with minimum to no gas pain anywhere. The staff informed me that I had the best surgeon anyone could ask for. That night there was alot of testing and make sure i sipped my Water and ate ice chips. They also made me work on my breathing. My blood pressure was 95/50 with a heart rate of 43, that was due to me being overly relaxed. Of course as the night went one, it increased to 112/64 with a heart rate of 53. On yesterday, before going home the bariatric coordinator took for an hour to explain everything to me. Trust me, I feel so blessed that each individual at the hospital and my surgeon staff truly equipped me with the tools i need to succedd. Our monthly milestones is 10 pounds a month. To everyone, thank you for what you have done for me. I am just relaxing at home for the next two weeks before heading back to work on the 16th.

  11. Hello everyone, please disregard if this message offends anyone in that it isn't the intent. Has anyone had and/or thought about a colon cleanse before their surgery? I am scheduled for one but forgot to ask my surgeon if it is okay. Please provide feedback.

  15. My surgery is on Monday and I am on a PreOp Diet that is low fat, low calories and a minimum of 60 grams of protein a day. It has been hard in that I cheated yesterday but I have been doing okay. There are several individuals who don't do it but please talk with your doctor to see what they require.
  16. Just finished my preop appointment and was completely happy with the amount of information provided and can rest assure now that everything is going to be okay. From the nurse, dietician and my McHottie of a doctor, I am going to be just fine. So since last Monday, I have officially lost 9 pounds and was able to have a piece of bread today with a penny size of honey almond cream cheese and will have a piece of meat tonight. By no means am I going to revert back to what got me here. McHottie informed me that the anesthesiologist will give me a call on Sunday night just to make sure everything is okay and I have to be there early at 6am Monday morning. I discussed with him the presence of my 8 year old son at the hospital and he made a note to pay special attention to him and my husband to make sure he knows that mommy is okay. Yes, I am five days out from the start of a new life with my family thank you Jesus!!!
  17. This headache is killing me but I am now on clear liquids and one meal a day.

  19. Heading to my PreOp Appointment....I pray everything is okay. Stay tuned!!!

  20. Good morning. So I have thought about what would be a great milestone to complete after having my band and I have determined that I am going to do the 3.5 miles March for Babies on April 21, 2012 in Texas. In 2009, I was able to do the 60 miles Susan G. Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer walk in honor of my mother in law and it took a toll on my body. It had always been my goal to walk in support of foundations and causes which promote the health of people and development of research cures. So on April 21st, I am going to do it. Even with it being two weeks after surgery, I think I can do it. If you want to show me support you can by viewing my website at: www.marchforbabies.org/srdiggs I am so excited to do this task and I will walk in support of each and everyone of my Band Family.

    After Surgery/going Back To Work

Everyone is different and my surgeon requires a week for your body to heal. I am actually taking two weeks off just to make sure I am adjusted well with the food and my body is in order. My job as an engineer have me going alot even thought I sit at the desk all day I just want to make sure things are okay. My supervisor completely understood. There was one guy here who stayed out for a week.
