    Three Weeks Post Op

Hello everyone. Just wanted to give a brief update. As of today, I am down a total of 28 pounds since I started but only 15 since my surgery three weeks ago. Unfortunately, I only on full liquid meals until my first fill on May 15th. Right now I am consuming 64 grams of protein a day which might be much but my bariactric coordinator want me to get in at least 60 grams once i get my fill. Of that 16 grams is milk (fat free) and 48 grams is whey protein and I consume about 500 calories a day and walk for 45 minutes a day when I feel like it. My sterile strip glue is just now pilling off and there are no scars...yeah!. But I just wanted to stop in and see hello and let you all know that i am doing well! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

    54Shirley Passed Away

OMG my thoughts and prayers are with her. This really scares me now since I just had my surgery three weeks ago but I never knew about the 50/50 chance of the band slipping.

LOL Brokenwings you are right! I never looked at it like that. Thanks for the motivation and inspiration to go on! But I can't to stop eating cream of chicken soup every single day. I am going to have some jello today or pudding. Heck might even have a spoonful of chili I cooked my family last night...lol.

2 Days Post Op And Miserable!

Like others have stated, please call your doctor ASAP. On the day of the surgery, I was able to keep ice chips and small small sips of water down. I was afraid to drink much water but now I drink a 20 ounce bottle every two hours just to make sure i get in at least 60 ounces before I go home. Water is important oh so important.

    Day 10 Post Op

Well it has been a while so I thought I would give you an update. Since my surgery, things have been good in that I am not going to say great. It has been a huge challenge to get the 64 ounces of water in but I have been able to get the 50 to 60 grams of protein in each day. With waking up at 7am, I don't start eating or drinking until 9am which I finds works well for me so this is something that I am going to stick with. On a daily, I try to walk at least 30 to 45 minutes so that I get some cardio in however, there is no weight lifting for another 4 weeks which is driving my crazy but I will obey doctor's order. But please let me say that the pain in my upper back has driven me crazy the last three days but with a good heating pad, things are great. And oh brother constipation is killing me now, but hopefully the Miralx will provide relieve. So right now everything is just normal right now but I can't go back to work Monday like I anticipated. My surgeon would like to see me first to make sure everything is okay before he releases me. Therefore, it looks like I will be home until next Wednesday. Trust me I am not upset because that let's me know that he is truly concern about me. This has truly been a great experience for me and trust me I wouldn't change a thing.

    Day 10 Post Op

Cleescruggs the thing that helped me the most was the nurses at the hospital and my bariatric coordinator. They woke me at up 3am the night after the surgery to make sure I walk to release gas and get my strength back. My motto is move it in order to lose it. We got in this situation from staying still so why continue. If you can get up and just walk 20 minutes outside a day then that is a start. My husband walks with me so that is a huge motivational point as well.

    Probably Tmi

Don't know about the rash so I can't help there. But OOOHHHHH I can with the constipation. My surgeon office stated the constipation was due to the pain medication. I was instructed to take 1 tablespoon of MOM every 30 minutes and 3 Colace a day untl the constipation ended. Due to the lack of food and a high Protein diet, I was instructed to take a tablespoon of Benefiber daily until I start on my soft protein in for weeks. Today marks 12 days post op.
  16. Day 12 Post Op and sick of drinking protein...but I am just going to do t.

    I'm Beginning To Get Worried!

Yes, I would have to agree with everyone else. I am 12 days post op and still on liquids for another 4 weeks. My surgeon and bariatric coordination instructed me to make sure I get all my protein shakes in first amounting to 60 grams and then I can have a 1/4 cup of soup just to break the taste of all the shakes. Trust me I have the urge to want to eat but I keep thinking about things that could happen if I didn't follow orders. Please take care of yourself and get your protein in along with your water. If you want to eat, then just take a walk.
  18. Sorry about this, but I have a bad case of constipation that has occurred this morning. At 9am, I took Miralax but at this point no relieve. If anyone can help me PLEASE!!! I am almost in tears and just waiting before I call my surgeon.

    Constipation At Day 10

OMG! I am so afraid because I read where constipation could be a sign of slippage. Oh I hope this isn't the case or I will just cry my eyes out. I have tried so hard and I don't want this to be happening to me. Plus I haven't been drinking alot of water and that could be an issue too. Oh I am a nervous wreck right now,

    Constipation At Day 10

Thank you I will have to try something but this has been four hours and I am miserable at this point. Don't want to push with my stomach because I don't want to hurt anything.
  22. Day 10 and things are okay but I wish they were better.

    Day 5 Post Op

Hello Springers. I pray you are all doing well. Just wanted to give you an update on my progress. Let me say that things are going well but it has been extremely hard for me to drink the 64 ounces of water daily. On yesterday, I had the worst back pains and a friend of mine who is a doctor stated it was the lack of water. So, I immediately started with Skinny Water (Electrolytes and Vitamins) and started feeling better. I haven't been walking much around the house, but I did walk significantly on yesterday after church. Did I mention they had fried fish, french frys, green salad and pound cake after church? OMG it was so hard, but I just sat there with my husband and son while drinking my gatorade. I was extremely proud of myself. However, later at night, we went to Coldstone Creamery because I wanted to treat them and broke down. My husband and son both love the low fat sinless ice cream and I couldn't have a drop. I shed a few tears, but my son reminded me that in 5 weeks we can have some together. So it has been hard, but I am doing it. Well the great news is that on today I started the 1/4 cup three times daily full liquid meals. So this morning around 10:20 I had 2 ounces of grits (water down) that took me 40 minutes to eat. Of course, I am going to work on the protein and water intake between the three meals. Sometimes around 2pm, I will have a nice tomato soup and for dinner yogurt. To be honest, this has truly open my eyes that I have been eating too much and it is time to stop. I thank God that I made this decision. The only pain I am having is in my chest which I think is gas pain and around the port. Other than that I'm fine but need to let all this gas go!!!!
  24. YES!!!! This is hard because I use to drink water like I am going crazy but now I have to sip and it is hard. So every 30 minutes, I try to consume at least 4 ounces of water with 8 ounces in an hour. Did I add that I have to get in 2 ounces of protein in every hour. The hard part is that I don't get a fill for 6 weeks since I am only 7 days post op.

    Got My Surgery Date!

Trust me, I know how you feel about having to cook for your family. When I started my PreOp Diet, I continued to cook for my family like I would, prepared their food and just ate my diet with them. They were very supportive and even ate one meal with me. This is a hard transition and I cried several days but thought about my bad eating habits was the main reason why I was there. Just think of the positive outcome that will come once you are banded on the 19th. I am 7 days post op and wouldnt change a thing. We are here to support you as much as possible.
