    Does Fhis Look Infected?

Turns out that your body can "reject" the stitches and try to literally kick them out! I had one come out of my port incision and a big one come out in the incision next to my belly button. I have never had to have stitches before this surgery, even after the daredevil tomboy life I lead when I was younger. =)

    Does Fhis Look Infected?

Check out this message board I found. I was curious about my reaction to my stitches and found this. http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=2648884

    Does Fhis Look Infected?

Personal non medical opinion, looks like one angry incision. You could be on the cusp of an infection. Is it weeping, is there puss? Another thing to think of is that you could possibly be allergic to the stitches. Mine itched like mad, even after the whole thing was healed. It never got that red and angry, but I wanted to cut myself open and scratch the inside if you know what I mean. Clean the wound with soap and Water. Be aware of where your hands and the soap bar have been. Most infections are caused by, pardon me, i do not mean to offend the weak here, but by washing your hind end and then touching a wound. My friend had surgery on her foot and it got infected because she stood in the shower and let the water run down over her incision. Can you say EWWWWW? After a thorough cleaning, peroxide and neosporin and a bandage. But that is a non-medical farmgirl been doctoring animals since the day I was born opinion.

    7Wks Banded Occasional Pain

It will go away, talk to your doc about it. I had it for quite awhile, and still, if I move just right, I get a shooting pain.

    Protein Shakes Months Later?

I still drink my protein everyday. It helps with weight loss. I tried several shakes before I found one I liked. It is the EAS Myoplex Chocolate Fudge 42g of protein. It is ready to drink. I stick them in the fridge and drink half in the morning and half in the afternoon. Keeps me from snacking all day if I start off with protein in the morning and don't eat breakfast till 9. I have a hard time getting in a good source of protein. Chicken and beef get stuck easily and I can't eat that much fish! If I eat any more cheese, I think I will turn into a peice! Have you checked out myfitnesspal.com ? They have a way cool way to keep a food journal, something I could never do in a book and WOW! Really makes you aware of where you are making mistakes and where you are doing good! Give them a try and if you do, add me as a friend bornready01, you can see my food diary and get hints on what other people are eating.

    Any Bandsters From Yuba City?

I live in Marysville, have you had your surgery?
  11. Ok, so, I got banded on the 8th of Dec and was just starting to eat mushy/solid food on Christmas Day! Can you imagine! Because everyone knew about my surgery, no body tried to push food at me. Nobody made a big deal about how much I didn't eat. I ate off a bread plate and took a tablespoon of everything that was on the table. Before the meal, I had some cheese off one of the many platters, and I even ate a cracker or two. Tiny bites, chew chew chew. I didn't go nuts, but I didn't deny myself. I did the same thing recently when I took my neice and nephew to the state fair. I knew I could never eat a corn dog, so I shared one with my neice. In fact, we shared everything that day. Moderation is the key. Please never hesitate to message me if you need help, we are all in this together! Good luck on your journey!

    Tough Weekend

I have had several pity parties for myself, my husband listens, gives me a kiss, encourages me, and tells me that I have made several changes in my life recently, (quit smoking and band surgery) and that I shouldn't be so hard on myself. Have your blue moment, then pull yourself up and get back in the game! BTW, I was down on myself till I saw my surgeon last month and was told I was doing a great job, It helps to get the encouragement. Chin up, you can do this!

    Sit Ups

I have had my port move around a tiny bit and it can be painful! Never know when it is gonna happen! I agree with #4 sHeLLaBee don't over do it, give yourself some more time to heal, and get your protein in, that helps the most with the healing process!
  14. I totally stole from TKW and started calling mine Chewy, cuz it makes noises only heard in StarWars!! Chewy has been talking alot today!

    My Fitness Pal!

What is you name on MFP?
  16. I like Big Ang, but I already have a friend named Big Ang, and she might get mad, and you don't want to piss off Big Ang! I think of mine as a bouncer working a door at a night club. When it full, he keeps the rif raff from getting in! What is a good name for a bouncer?

    How To Drink Water...

You are going to take in air no matter what you do. When i first come home after surgery, I was lucky if I could drink an ounce of Water. At night, I would wake up so thirsty and the instinct to gulp is huge, but small sips. Tip the cup up till the water kind of forms a seal with your upper lip and drink that way. Don't just open wide and poor the water into your mouth. From here on out, FOREVER, you will have to think about EVERYTHING you put into your mouth. solid food is a whole new expierience! Take extremely small bits and chew till it is the consistency of oatmeal! With practice it becomes easier, but I still have to watch out when I go out to lunch with the girls and I am talking and eating at the same time. I had to excuse myself from the table because I got a bite stuck in the band. NO GOOD when you are in a group and you have to explain that! Good luck in your journey!

    Why Am I Stuck?

I was told to use a babyspoon. If it is to big for the spoon, it is to big for your band. Also, a magazine article on this site gave me my aha moment when it said to picture your upper stomach as a funnel, not a small pouch. Made more sense to me after that and I have not had to many problems after that. Be aware of dried out meat also! Overcooked dry meat is just an invitation to pain! BTW, Before my surgery, steak was my favorite, now it takes me 45 minutes to eat 3oz of steak. It is cold as an ice cube, but to get my Protein and have a little variety, because I am burnt out on ground meats, I will eat cold steak. I also get stuck very easily on BS chicken. My dr told me to try BS thigh meat. Wow, what a difference!

Two Months Later, Still No Fill

Wow!! So I have a great Dr in Dr Machado in Sacramento. I am so glad I do not have the jerk you have to deal with. You need to put his name out there so others who Google him will know what they are in for.

    I?M Baaaack!

Good for you! Here's to success! I am down 46 pounds and I recently quit losing and it had nothing to do with a plateau, it had to do with what I was putting in my mouth! I am back on track and hopefully making better choices!
  21. Thank you for that info TMF, that is a good thing to know. I used to take 800 mg ibuprofens but gave them up after surgery. I started to use Goody's powders, they worked ok. Talked to my Dr when I tweaked my back a month ago and she said I could take my 800s as long as it was short term, meaning 1 a day for a day or so.
  22. So I went in for my monthly, and though I ususally see the physician's assistant, whom I love, imagine my shock when my surgeon walks in the door. I got really nervous, like I was in the principal's office! Well she said I was down 4 lbs and that at 46 pounds in 8 months, I was ahead of the game. She told me I was doing great, her words, not mine and that she didn't want to fill me because to be to tight can cause a backslide. I floated out of that office after she gave that "Atta Girl"! Sometimes all we need is to be told we are doing good! Hope you all get to expierience a feeling like this often!

    Melons

I have only tried to eat a little bit and it filled me up rather quickly, but almost all fruit does that to me, especially peaches, weird huh!
  25. Down 4 pounds and told I didn't need a fill yet! Woohoo!
