hi everyone, i recentlly went to a seminar of a dr. grossbard..in florida,tampa area, who hopefully will be doing my lap-band. i was wondering if anyone out there has had him as a dr.?also i learned alot but what was so great is i already had so much info just from reading ya'lls letters..thanks all for helping.

Hi there all, I was wondering if anyone out there has had surgury or knows anyone who performs the surgury in central florida...i live near daytona and orlando...any where really thats in florida.thanks

Well it happened I was denied again..To start over ...I went to a Dr.Grossbard in tampa fl, and he told me i had a few comorbids and would have no problem getting approved ..i have UHC..so about 2 weeks later the ins. girl called and said they denied stating not medically necessary and she was resummiting with plenty of reasons for a approval..well she called me about 2 weeks after that and said im so sorry they denied us again and suggest i write a appeal letter.. I am so fustrated and sad and well alot of you know what i mean...The worst part is I am waiting to get a back surgury I am 225 and 5'5 and the back surgen doesnot what to do a surgury untill i lose the weight and the pain is so bad im having trouble walking,bending,sitting, just about everything.. I dont know how much longer i can take the pain ..ive been following the adkins diet while i was waiting for the band surgury per my dr..stating it shrinks the liver..and im so depressed..so where do i go from here? my husband is not keen on the mexico thing.so I dont know what else to do ...HELP ME PLEASE

thanks for writing..i did have 4 dr's notes stating need for the surgury. also the denial states my insurence doesnot cover any weightloss procedures no matter what medical requirements are met. did any of yall get ideas for letters on the internet and were can i find them.thanks for all your help

I was told by my dr. while waiting for the insurence, to follow the adtkins diet... that it would shrink my liver making it easier to get to my stomach..so I am doing my best sticking to it ..has anyone out there been told the same thing..and how much difference does a liquid diet compare to the adtkins..i am finding ways to get yummy treats I want to share with any other adtkin dieters. Take a spoonfull of peanut butter and 2 spoonfulls of coolwhip( in a tub)and mix together with a hand mixer on high for a minute or two and the result is a party in your mouth!!! its comes out like a mouse it is awesome and this may work for any still on the creamy stage of after surgery? Well i would love any replies..Thanks All..

i am in the process of waiting for the insurence to approve ..the dr's office says united should cover so im in the waiting game... i have been thinking this band was going to be easy..i mean im ready for the pain from the surgury and healing..but i think i set myself up for this to be "i cant fail" i am hoping to come out of surgury feeling not hungry and then every once in a while making myself eat just to get the nutrients i need. i also have to have a back surgury and im afraid the back surgen will tell me to wait on the band...i need both surguries the pain from my back will allways hurt if i am 100pounds overweight..also im a stay at home mom and when i come back from the band will i have to rest or be in bed for a few days?oh ya and my dr wants me to do atkins for 2 weeks before the surgury to shrink my liver and i am finding i get so shaking when i dont eat and all the meat is making me sick...is there another way to shrink the liver?thanks for any and all advice!!

I know that the first time i heard a dr. say i was obese i was around 180. I thought to myself what ...how dare he say that im just a little overweight...then before i knew it i went up to 230 and now i finally realized wow i am obese.. and all the health problems that come with that title...my depression was out of control..and now that i have a possible answer i am so much happier...i cant wait to get the band..i know it will be a great tool for me and im committed to make it work!!!think about how you want to live..how you can change you life...how your new tool will help you through the hard times...commit yourself to achieving your first mini goal and go from there...1 day ata time!!! good luck

thanks for the kind words ..the sad thing is im not a single mom i am married but my husband is working all the time and is gone for 24 hours at a time so he cant help right now...i have to do this on my own and i hope the modivation will stay strong.

well today i tried to get a appointment with a dr. only 30 min away and i was told he is not in my insurence plan..the helper was very nice and she tried but they denied even a meeting. so my other choice is a dr.in dade city, florida, dr. grossburg, thats about 110 miles away! they are having a meeting tomorrow night that if i want to get a appiontment i must go to this first. this is going to be a challenge i have a 4 y/o that i cant get a sitter for all night i wont be back till 1am so i am tring not to get fustrated ..and just try to let him have a sleepover with friends.. anyway i also heard united is only covering the lapband till the end of this year so i an even more nervous...i wish this could be easy..but im realizing this wont be the first time i get let down...is it worth all this ...i know some of you out there could answer that for me ..i could use some reenforcement..thanks all

alexandera, i so enjoy reading all your threads..you are such a insperation... i am calling 2 more dr.s tomorrow to find out about there location and avalibility... i am nervous i have wanted for this for so long and i will be crushed if it doesn't happen..i just want to tell you ..you are doing great ,you will have sucsess..keep your chin up, and ill pray for you!

Hi I am a 30 y/o mother of one son,live in a town between orlando and daytona,florida, I have done the research and im sure the lap band is what i what and need. I went to my primary doc. and he has no idea what im talking about ..after i described it .. he said well lets make sure my heart was in good shape and i am good on that ...well now i dont know what to do or what to expect? All you guys out there are such a inspiration..i was wondering if someone would let me know what i should do next? find a dr.,... find out first if ins. will cover,...what other pretest do i have to get? any help would be great...thanks erika

Hi everyone,i just started the processes... I have done the research,and now know i want the lap band..I went to my primary who didn't know much about it but did say we sould rule out any problems with my heart first. That came back good. I dont know what to do next? I live near orlando, florida and to my knowledge theres no doctors around here. Is there something the insurence will want to verify before I request coverage. Any help would be great I am definatlly at a point were if i dont do something soon.....well lets just say i feel out of control.
