8 Days Post Op... Feeling Very Hungry!
Kmom2 replied to rairai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was cleared a little early because I wasn't having any nausea or vomitting. My daughter was thrilled I could have mashed potatoes, lol lol. I worry about feeling sluggish with too many carbs though. I am excited for my cream of wheat! LOL Woo Hoo for us and Cream of Wheat! -
8 Days Post Op... Feeling Very Hungry!
Kmom2 replied to rairai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
7 days post op for me and I too have tummy rumblings. I am getting tired of cream soups and liquids but got the okay for pureed stuff yesterday. I am going to get some oatmeal/cream of wheat. Yoplait Thick and Creamy yogurt helps. I can drink my entire 11 oz protein shakes so I try to drink a couple of those a day. I have read about "bandster hell".......lol lol Now I know what it's like. Good luck to you dear! -
Healthylife.....I am swollen on my port side too. My nurse said the same thing. Ice packs. None of the other incisions hurt at all. I was banded March 6th. Had a really hard time with gas and all the suggestions didn't seem to help much, but it finally went away after about 3-4 days post op. Today was the first day I could get an entire 11oz protein shake down. I am so glad.....I'm not a fan of pureed meat so getting enough protein in was begining to be a problem. I love my shakes! Good luck with your port pain, dear!

I'm a self pay too and I am on a pre-op diet. My sister is having the gastric sleeve surgery, self pay, and she is supposed to follow the South Beach Diet for 2 weeks before surgery. Reading thru all these entries it's funny how some doctors require liquids only, some allow food, some think all liquids is too restrictive. Good luck with your diet and surgery!

luvbug......I am drinking EAS AdvantEDGE, choc. fudge. They are wonderful and I haven't experienced any bathroom "issues" as a result of them. I have never heard of "clean" vs "dirty" either. The dietician at my doctor's office was very impressed with the vitamin content of of the EAS drinks and told me I could even add a fruit or veggie with it since the calories are low and she had no problem with me having 4 shakes a day if I so choose. Good luck dear! You will be great!

Sorta Discouraged, But Okay And Going Forward With Surgery
Kmom2 replied to Kmom2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks btyboop58. I don't think I was truly being realistic with myself. This isn't my first time to the rodeo, I know this pain. But I was fooling myself into thinking losing the weight would make it all better. I'm kinda silly about my knees. My family calls it "denial".....lol lol My heart goes out to you as I have a friend that suffers from RA. So happy to hear you can walk to the store and back! YOU GO GIRL! -
Sorta Discouraged, But Okay And Going Forward With Surgery
Kmom2 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to see my ortho today to see if he would order my pre-op tests for me since my insurance won't pay for anything associated with weight control. I guess I should start out by saying I had a partial knee replacement about 6 years ago, and a full replacement almost 2 years ago. I knew my partial knee was hurting, but I associated that with my weight, even though Dr. Ortho told me I was losing joint space a few months ago, anyhoo....I saw the lapband surgery as a way to aleviate the progression of the arthritis, thus aleviating my pain. Good news is Dr. Ortho has no problem ordering my pre-op tests for the lapband surgery. Bad news is the surgery is too late to prevent another knee surgery. So I am looking at a total replacement within a year. I need it now as I am bone on bone and it hurts to walk, but I want to lose the weight and hopefully my recovery will be easier. So I am a little discouraged. I so did not want to face another knee surgery. Dr. Ortho says whichever I want to do first is fine with him. I guess the only thing to do is focus on the positive, my pre-ops will be paid for. WOO HOO!!!! Ok...just had to whine/vent. -
I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. Im sure it will be quite an adjustment but I know I can do it. My big fear is AFTER SURGERY. I grow more and more worried about vomiting and band slippage. I guess as long as I follow my directions I will be okay. Just a big worry for me right now. I do have a question for anyone who has added pudding mix to their Protein shakes.......how much mix do you add? The entire package or just until it tastes good to you?

I'm a self pay too. My insurance won't pay for any part of any weight loss treatment. If I live to be 200 years old I will never understand that. They had no problem paying for my 4surgery knee surgeries including both a full and partial replacements and 5 hyalagan shots at $3520.00 APIECE!!!! Do the math.....those shots were more than Lapband surgery. Simply unbelievable, huh?

What Will It Cost Me To Get Weight Loss Surgery?
Kmom2 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What an inspiration this thread has been. I am scheduled for surgery on March 6th. I am dipping into an inheritance to pay for it, and now trying to find a doctor to order the pre-op testing for me so insurance will at least pick those up. If I have to pay for the pre-op myself I will, but would rather not. Cindy, Shirley, Lorena, thank you so much. I think I will print this out and keep it with me at all times to re-read as needed. lol -
Hi....Kmom here. My surgery date is March 6th. Woo Hoo!
