CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
-
My band is tighter after a workout and I was wondering if anyone else experienced the same thing. I am lucky to get down an entire protein shake sometimes. I walk on a underwater treadmill at about 3.2 mph for about 40 minutes. I asked my doctor about it and she said "The band has a mind of it's own sometimes for sure. Mind your band!" LOL LOL So I mind my band, because it's definitely in charge! LOL LOL

kdp, boy nothing bums us out faster than problems with our children, huh? In early June, my son moved to PA to be with his dad and I cried for 2 days. I'm sure the move was difficult on everyone, but at 19, boyfriends and friends are your entire world and moving from a place you have spent your life in to a new place had to be hard for her. I'm sure she's a good girl and it might be hard for her to see you only want the best for her right now, but she'll get it eventually. I'm sorry you have the gloomies, but hey....CONGRATS on the 15 lb loss!!! Thats TERRIFIC!!!!! You are in a fairly difficult part of the process. Not impossible, just difficult but you will get through it. I am sure you are doing the right things as far as eating. Just follow the Dr's orders NO MATTER WHAT. It's critical that you give your stomach this time to heal, by following the post-op diet. You will be fine, and honestly if you do screw up, your band will let you know and you will learn the HEED THE BAND. LOL LOL Everyone screws up. Everyone eats things they shouldn't. Some learn, some don't. I told my doctor about eating something that didn't agree with me and marking it off my list and he said he wished more of his patients would do that. So I asked him if people really ate things knowing they would end up throwing them up and he said "YES" I was floored. Nothing tastes good enough to have it come back up as far as I'm concerned. Have you looked on here for any local band support groups? That would be a great place to meet some new people, going thru the same things you are. They are listed by state I think in the forums section. Not sure. Click around and you'll find it. Good luck dear....and hang in there. You don't sound like a cry baby. You sound like a mother who loves her children. Kelly

No most soft foods are not diet friendly, but like I said, I try to make up for it the next day. I would rather do that, than get sick or feel bad in a social setting. I recently came back from a week long seminar and had to attend a fish fry (soooo not diet friendly), a sit down dinner (not bad, but not greatly diet friendly either) and I lost 3 lbs that week. I just made sure I compensated for the unfriendly food the next day and walked a little longer.

Oh, need2lose2.......how awful is that? I had a similar experience except it was the first time anything like that had happened to me and I had no idea what was about to happen......so I just threw up in front of everyone sitting around me in the restaurant....on Mother's Day! It was awful......lol I went to see a movie last Saturday night and everyone in my party was eating popcorn and one of my friends asked me if I wanted some and I said "No thank you. I haven't tried popcorn yet and I'm sure not going to try it in public!" She laughed and agreed with me but said she felt bad sitting there snarfing it all down and I just said "It smells heavenly, but you would be surprised how much of a detterent public vomiting is." Then she really laughed.....put her arm around me and hugged me. I definitely go for the soft foods and just figure I will drink a protein shake when I get home or make up for it the next day.

I think chewing thoroughly and taking small bites was one of the hardest things for me to do. I struggle with it daily. I have to pay close attention to what I am doing, and what I am feeling while I eat. Eating in a social setting??? I'd rather not.....lol I almost always get in trouble because I am talking, not focusing on eating like I'm supposed to. Chewing thoroughly was and still is a real problem I struggle with.
-
OH I bet you are frustrated. Hang in there....these things take time unfortunately. You are doing so great, down 53 lbs, so just keep on going. Use all your tools, eating slow, chewing thoroughly and stick to your calorie count. Good luck, dear!
-
Oh I forgot....Congrats on the 60lbs loss, dear!!! Way to go!!!!

My period never stopped. Your's stopped? Because of your weight? I would enjoy it being gone.....lol lol
-
I was on my period when I had my surgery. Surgeon didn't say anything about it.....had the surgery, did fine. I'm not on BCP, so I don't know about those affecting the surgery or medications, sorry. I had no problems.

Knee Replacements, Super Obesity And Exercise, ?'s
Kmom2 replied to meyouus's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm 47, have had a partial replacement (right leg) and a total replacement (left leg). I am walking on an underwater treadmill and a wellness center near my home. I have lost 50lbs, but want more off as the partial replacement has to become a total replacement. I want as much weight off as possible before that surgery happens. Water exercise is the best I think. Good luck to you dear! -
DON'T Have Band Surgery If....
Kmom2 replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I was one of those that thought I could eat anything just in smaller portions. My lapband quickly changed my mind about that though. I can honestly say, the only think I can't eat that I do miss is my brown rice. But I am down 50lbs since March 6th surgery, so I am doing good and following the rules, missing my rice.....lol -

I'm in warrensburg, Ill. I go to Dr. Rohrschieb in Clinton. I was banded on March 6. 2012, down 50lbs Would love to meet local banisters. -
I was banded on 3/6/12 and I only have 3cc as well. I am 3, almost 4 weeks out from the fill that brought me to 3cc's and I don't need anymore. .5cc's isn't much but if you can't feel restriction then he will just have to keep doing the. 5 till you get there. It seems silly to me but unless you can talk to your doctor and change his mind you are gonna .5cc it till you feel it, baby!! Good luck dear.

sassybee, have fun in Italy. I would LOVE to go there some day. It's such a beautiful country. My second fill was the one that gave me restriction, so I am hoping your #2 does the same for you. Have fun and enjoy your trip!!

MWest I can't believe this! I'm so sorry. Did he explain what he meant by "opening a can of worms" and what does your age have to do with it? I don't blame you for wanting to cry, I would have broken down there in the office. I had surgery on 3/6/12. My second fill a week and a half ago gave me good restriction. But up until that time I didn't have any and I told the PA I was getting a little tired of the $16K DIET I was on and she laughed and said "Well I don't blame you. Let's get you the help you paid for." I sure wish you the best, dear. Dieting is so very hard, and if we were successful at it, we wouldn't have the surgery. You need and deserve the help the lapband is supposed to give you. You paid for it, you should get it. Good luck dear and in the meantime, hang in there. Try to stick to the diet and I wish you the best.

nicole, so you are stressed, hungry and sick? You poor thing! I'm so sorry things have been like that for you. I was banded on 3-6, I have had one fill and felt restriction for about 2 days and I have had to cancel my appt. for my second fill 2 times! Can you call your doctor and make an appt, for another fill? Or maybe just tell them you don't feel restriction all day. If I take too big of bites, or eat too fast, I can feel it, but at night, I have practically no restricton and am just trying to stick to my 1200 cals a day until I get another fill. Hang in there dear! Call your doctor! and take your medicine!!

Hey Nicki823.....we all have a pity party for ourselves from time to time. It's very hard to make good choices at times. My weakest point is when I have let myself get too hungry then I just reach for anything. Without feeling restriction making good choices gets very hard and we have all been through it, or we wouldhn't have had to have the surgery. I hope you can get back you the plan and your exercise. Zumba looks so fun and I so wish I could do something like that but my bad knees prevent me. So go dance it off, girl! Make a few moves for me too!!!!
-
I got my first fill this past Monday. I feel a little restriction and should start with solid foods tonight for dinner. I only got 1cc of fluid in and have an appointment for 2 weeks to see if that's enough or I need more.

Maryjoann, don't sweat it. Everybody falls down. Just pick yourself back up, and start back on the diet. You can do this, I am positive of it. When I would feel like cheating I would remind myself that it could jeopordize the surgery and that was enough (most times) to keep me on track. Keep up the good work dear and know in your heart YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! :D

Della...you are so right. Keep your eyes upon God and he will guide you through. Good luck tomorrow dear! I am positive you will be great, and so glad you did this!

First of all good luck to those getting banded these last two weeks of March! I have been reading lots of entries about people struggling with the pre-op diet, struggling with lots of food issues, family gatherings etc. It would be my greatest wish that family members would be ultra supportive of the Bandsters in their family. Please keep in mind that this liquid, full liquid phase is just that......a phase. It won't last forever. I encourage everyone to focus on the positive, how much better they feel, more energy and to take pride in the fact you took a very difficult step in the right direction to BETTER YOUR HEALTH. That's what it boils down to. Better health. If your family can't support you, SHAME ON THEM and look around, ask your doctor's office; there are lots of alternatives to find support. Find them and actively participate in them. Family gatherings are gonna be tough, but keep your focus on spending time with those you love. The food should only be a small part of the day. Now this is a really tall order for most of us considering our entire lives have revolved around food in one way or another. But if you are strong enough to go through this process, you are strong enough to change your focus! This process is not for sissies. If you have been through it, follow the doctors/dieticians directions. If you are getting ready to go thru it, stick to the pre-op diet if you have one, don't get discouraged if you cheat. I cheated 3 times and ended up eating hot salsa, chips and some left over spaghetti the night before my operation. Just get back on the diet, and go forward. When the weight starts coming off, the clothes start feeling a little more loose......it will give you more strength to carry on. I promise it will all be worth it.

JUDYCH1946.........I SCRAMBLED 2 EGGS BUT ONLY ATE HALF. THEY WEREN'T SLOPPY, I COOKED THEM THOROUGHLY AND FORGOT TO ADD MILK LIKE THE DIETICIANS. TOLD ME. I ATE SLOWLY. CHEWED THEM AS GOOD AS I COULD. THEY STAYED DOWN, NO NAUSEA OR ANYTHING. BUT 40I MINUTES LATER I WAS HUNGRY. LOL. sorry about the all caps......
