    I'm Scared!!!!!

I had the stomach bug 2 weeks ago. I called the doctor immediately and they unfilled me from 7 cc to 4 cc. They felt that 4 was a safe number. I was only 5 weeks post op. You should be safe being that you are unfilled. You could call your doctor and ask for nassua meds.

    Stomach Flu

Last night I started a bout with the stomach flu. I am 1 month out from being banded. I was given some anti-nausea meds before surgery if I was ever going to vomit. Unfortunately they didn't work last night. I got sick about 5 times and pretty violent. What are the chances that it damaged my lapband? I wanted to get some opinions before I called my doctor.

    Stomach Flu

Thank you everyone for your comments. I did call the doctor yesturday and had to have an unfill until it passes. I went from 7ccs to 4ccs. They were afraid of a slip.

Avoid Gaining Weight When With Mushies???

My diet is low carb/ low sugar/ low fat. It is 1000 calorie, 60 grams of Protein, 20 grams of carb, 20 grams of fat. 3 oz of lean protein (turkey, chicken, fish). And 1 cup of vegetables. The thing that helped me was to weigh and measure foods. Even with little or no restriction it will keep you on track.

Has The Band Actually Worked For You?

    1. How long have you been banded? 3 weeks 2. How much weight did want to lose? 100 lbs 3. How much weight have you lost? 21 lbs Pre op (since January) and 11 lbs post op. One thing to keep in mind is that you won't only have scale victories. At surgery I had received 7 ccs in a 10 cc band. The 2 week liquid stage is where I lost a lot of pounds. I do see a lot ofnon scale victories. I have turned a lot of fat mass into muscle mass and have become leaner. I have dropped 2 dress sizes in a 3 week period. I can cross my legs and walk without my thighs rubbing. It has also given me more stamina and willpower to work out. I have a little ways to reach my green zone but I'm doing fine with the results in achieving. I have learned its not all about the scale. 4. How happy are you that you have been banded: Scale of 1-10 (1 being regretful, 10 being elated) I don't think there is a number high enough.
  6. I use lose it.com. They also have an app for your phone. If great that it will track calories in and calories burned. Each day you can print out a summary to add to your food journal.

    May Bandsters!

The only difference is that during a c-section they don't fill you with gas. You will have gas pains they should go away in a few days.

What Is An Endo - Flip?

I'm not sure if they used an endo flip on me during surgery but I was given 7 cc of fill at the time of placement

    Full Liquid Diet Day 2

Tricia Are you banded? If so you should call your surgeon right away. Vomiting is very bad for the band and then can prescribe meds for you. Before my surgery I was given a prescription of Zofran to carry with me at all times and I have had to use it

Question For Stay At Home Mommys..

My doctor is more reserved. I cannot lift anything heavier than 10 lbs for 1 month. I have a 3 & 4 year old. What I did with them is lift up my shirt to show them mommy had a boo boo and can't pick them up. They were genuinely concerned and I have gotten some great help from them doing things.

Tomarrow Is The Day! May 10Th

Good luck everyone. I know you can do it. I just celebrated my one week banderversary and I feel great.
  13. I was banded May 2nd and have had no issues sleeping on my side or stomach. It was sore at first but I'm one week post op and no issues.
  14. Hi. I have a few motivations: 1. To be healthy. When I started this journey in January I weighed 230. I had surgery on May 2nd. And I lost 20 lbs Preop and 10 lbs post op. 2. Family history. My father died at 55 after numerous heart attacks and stroke. He was seriously overweight. I don't want to be like my father. 3. My family. I have a very supportive and loving husband as well as 2 sons ages 3 & 4. I want to be around for them. 4. To do things I want to do. I have an aspiration to obtain my diving certification and dive in the caribbean. I want to go camping, hiking, bike riding with my family. I want to go sky diving with my sister-in-law.

    May Bandsters!

I wanted to give everyone a pointer: If your doctor gives you a breathing spirometer (device you suck from) use it no matter how much pain your in. I will admit I didn't do it long in the first few days due to pain and I am at risk now for pneumonia. It has been 7 days and I can't get a deep breath in. So please work thru the pain so it doesn't happen to you.

    May Bandsters!

I know everyone will do great. The surgery was over really quick and recovery isn't that bad. I am 6 days post op and it's going great. I was just at the doctors and lost 10.5 lbs since surgery. I was over the gas on the 4th day. For the first 6 days I was on a water and ice chips. As of today i am on protein drinks for 2 weeks. Good luck and keep us posted.

    Day After

I would have to say that you cannot drive home.. I was on prescription pain killers for the first 3 days.

    May Bandsters!

My surgery was a same day surgery and I have a history of blood clots. If the insurance company requires an overnight stay they trump everyone. It is one way to ensure you are getting the best treatment and are following the rules.

    May Bandsters!

Normally they don't fill them. My Doc says he has done so many surgeries they he can gauge where a person should be. His thoughts are that he doesn't want his patients to be hungry when the swelling goes down.

    May Bandsters!

Hi everyone. Doing well. I was banded on the 2nd and have lost 9 lbs so far. I am on a clear liquids (water, ice, tea, sf ice pops) only diet until tomorrow in which I can than add protein drinks. I'm on protein drinks for 2 weeks and then mushies for 4 weeks. My biggest complaint is indigestion. I have a 10 cc band with 7 ccs put in at surgery time. The gas in my shoulder has gone away due to me moving and walking.

Definitely use a heating pad and more importantly walk. Walking is the only way to disburse the gas.
