    To fill or not to fill....

    i dont have any fills yet and i often wonder am i doing wrong or could i be doing more (and yes i look at others seemingly getting fills left and right)...and yes i compare......but what it boils down too is what others have told you.....and yes me as i read their comments, YOU.....make the decision based on you and what your doctor suggests.....losing weight is not a race....some may get their goals quicker than others...so what.....i will get there when i get there......with or without fills........and its nice to know i can get fillsto help me when i need it. all the best. you are doing GREAT

    Friday I learned...

    dont be scared eating and eating out is a way of life get a small salad plate..put some items on it you like eat and go slow, take small bites, chew alot and enjoy..enjoy being out with whomever....live to enjoy not live to eat.... dont stress...you are not on a diet..let the band work. sounds like you did just fine to me

    barium swallow

    at the upper GI and after surgery, the taste of the barium was nasty...i recall telling the dr after surgery i hope they got the pic they wanted as if i had to drink it again, it'd come back up........however, at my lap band doctor, their barium swallow tastes like grape kool aid......no problem what so ever. hang in there

    Problem-Need Advice ASAP

    go back to the lap band doctor and have them look at your wife TODAY not being able to swallow anything but liquids is dangerous and not how the lap band works (fill or no fills) do not take no or nothing wrong as the answer as obviously something is.
  11. i'd call tricare and ask them about that. they'd be able to help you...as long as there is a surgeon who does this kind of surgery (there) on or off base, i do not see why not..

    chocolate

    i am ok with chocolate (prefer coors light myself) but i do enjoy a chocolate Protein shake every day.....cures my sweet/chocolate.. having a lap band wont stop you from eating it will help you control how much 3500 calories is a pound ate or drank WLS or not... you will do fine......want chocolate or whatever....have some food is meant to be enjoyed....so enjoy it...you are not on a diet anymore.

    call and tell your doctor and let them advise you as they'd would know and need to know if you dont feel well. keeping fingers crossed that is goes well for you

    Head Hunger

    yes, stay busy, drink alot and keep occupied...the commercials, the radio, the times to eat are hard to deal with at times..i found out on my pre op that most of my eating came because i was bored and not truly hunger..there is a totally huge difference between being hungry and our bodies needing to be fed and us (just thinking we are hungry)........if you think you are hungry, drink something (cold) and see if that solves the issue......it does w/me... but i eat when i am hungry.. best of luck to you.

    No progress

    read catfish's response over and over again as he is dead on.. muscle does not weigh more than fat (it is more dense) but 5 pounds of muscle or fat is 5 pounds. just keep on doing what you are doing....if you are losing inches by heavens you are losing weight regardless of what the scale says or doesnt say.....stay the course and the scale will catch up....getting so upset of (something) you do not have control over is meaningless......unless you are overeating and taking more cals than you burn off which you arent....so stop stressing.....stop weighing every 5 min you are doing GREAT you did not gain weight overnight and you sure wont lose it overnight either

    i agree with go......keep yourself occupied and say off the scale so much...the scales go up and down all day long......and nana is right, way too early to overly stress....to gain true weight you have to eat more calories than you burn off...have you ate 7000 extra calories NO, you havent this is where your mental game comes into action do the right thing, eat great food, exercise and let the process (aka the band) work, it will not happen overnight but it will happen if you let it you can make yourself happy by smiling and saying to yourself, i got this now believe it

    Salad during soft period?

    best to stay and use the list of post op foods the dr gave you.. if its on it, then yes if not, that answer is no for best band results, always follow the lap band guidelines
