Weight vs time
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to Tamra Oneal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
take a gander at some people on here and that will show you, people with lap bands can and do lose weight when used correctly: Missy Jim1967 Lellow just to name some who have lost 200+ pounds..... and hundreds i dont mention who have lost 50+ and then some yep, i suspect those who said it dont work, dont use it right... i say go for it... -
Weight vs time
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to Tamra Oneal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it varies person to person via their weight/bmi larger bmi tend to lose faster....but on liquid pre and post op diets, its mainly water...some can lose alot and some just a wee bit....its a great start and a wonderful motivator...but to lose actual and true weight is to continue to eat well, let the band work...the on going process...just having WLS wont guarantee a weight loss..i know it is not the answer you wanted, but its the one i wanted to give. -
Got Band Today Having Trouble with Water :(
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to jennybean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you are very swollen inside from major surgery.....baby sips and each day that passes, its gonna get easier but, keep on sipping....if still an issue or you cant drink at all, tell dr asap -

if you are losing inches, you are losing (weight) just because the scale is not moving or going slow, and you are eating well and exercising as you wrote and not eating more calories than you burn off, then i see no problem....doing a great job in my eyes...if only you could see it from my view today.....maybe then you'd realize just how great you are doing.

like sharpie i had mine out years before i was banded my symptons were severe pain between my shoulder blades hub took me to ER three times for pain and the last time he told them i was staying til they fixed me......and they did...

if you are losing inches, you are losing no matter the number and a loss is a loss...focus on health....your better health.....that is the ultimate goal...of course me losing enough to make sammy hagar come marry me...wonder if van halen would do a comeback concert for the wedding?? hm...must ponder

first month is for healing as you had major surgery way to early to be stressing on calories..let your body heal, get your protein in...get your mind set ready and let yourself bask in the afterglow of WLS...its a process....in reality, to gain weight you must eat more calories than you burn off...3500 is a pound ate or drank)....you will do just fine honey..promise.
-
i feel strongly that you will lose according to your body i cant say how much per week or month a person loses or what they should...its based on alot.....a larger BMI person can lose quicker while a lower BMI may go slower....to me, as long as you are losing, who cares how much it is per week, month...and i feel that people who say i must lose or want to lose or will lose x amount by whatever date they have and then dont fall prey to the what did i do wrong drama......dont need it......that is my opinion......you are doing great...and if you lose that 35 by xmas as you wrote or you dont or maybe surpass it, you will still be doing GREAT.....its a process...not a race. hang tough GF

On my own? Or WLS?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to Sincerely's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
with any WLS, it will assist you but not fix the problem only you (and anyone else who has any WLS) have to make the adjustments to lose weight. if you want help, get the surgery of your choice but keep an open mind....be realistic..its not a guarantee..so many are having surgery and not thinking for one moment that is it about a lifestyle change.....you must change what you eat and live a better/healthier life...it will work but if you truly want it too...research the options...find a terrific doctor and if you feel this is what you want, go for it. 15 months ago, i could hardly walk....truth and was well over 336+ pounds and am 5'1 on a good day..wide as i was tall..it can be done....no excuses, no BS....so yeah, go for it...make yourself well i believe in ya -

I have gained 3 lbs and my port sight hurts wat does this mean?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to lenadit2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
to gain actual weight, you must eat 3500 calories...did you eat 10,000+ extra calories recently?...heck no, it could be Water, maybe TOM, maybe you need to take a big poop or need to pee alot.....who knows stay off the scale..let your insides heal.......and def judge your loss by inches just by not what the scale says....and your port can be sore for up to a month and maybe longer...as long as it is not red, puss or warm, then you seem to be healing just fine........stay with your doctors instructions and you will succeed......you already are -
