Banded And Hiatal Hernia Repair
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to deb32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
after surgery, you should be on liquids. eating real food could harm you so dont do it. just tough it out. you came this far. i had a hernia repair too and it hurt when i took a deep breath. its normal. just stay with the meds and know its gets better each day. you are healing. it takes time. -
here is some of my hubs fave dishes for fish--is pretty simple. shark is thick like steak......so def shark kabobs are delish....either bbq or a lime marinade works best (add many veggies for healthy meal) serve over yellow/saffron rice. the easiest is to soak jaws in beer, grill like a steak...about 4 min on each side ought to do it...baked tater and some fresh Beans is a superb meal.. snapper, wrap in foil........add lemon, butter and some outstanding white wine, cook on grill.......garlic mash would go good with this.. king fish, def do a fish/chips preparation hope this helps..

☠carolinagirl☠ replied to christine209's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i think you need to change your thinking to how well you have done and loss instead of what you havent and being impatient. you sure didnt get gain all your weight overnight. you are not gonna lose it all that quickly. you need to chill and do exactly what it is you are doing. it seems to be working. so whats the problem?? -
5 Days Post Op! Need Suggestions
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to alicesandra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i believe that Protein shakes are allowed on full liquids and i strongly recommend using them to help keep you full (and helps with hunger) and also help you get your protein intake. i still drink one every morning to help with my protein (and because i am very tight in the a.m.) all the best -
ah honey, how exciting. i know you are going to do just great. no worries......go to hospital and take a nap and wake up as a bander.......happy thoughts only allowed today and tomorrow and so on

also, being (thin) does not mean they are healthy either.. -
and if you dont accomplish this goal in 6 months, then what?? will you consider yourself a failure?? let your body lose what is can, slowly, healthily and at its own pace. do not compare to what others may or may not loose. all the best

i had the opposite of you. my surgeon put me on align and i think this may help you. the other posters are correct, the Protein is clogging you up. just keep drinking fluids. you will eventually (go)

Help! Im On Day 6 Post Op & I Have Gained A Pound!
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to Mama Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
for real? you just come out of major surgery, your body is healing itself and you are worried/upset about gaining a pound? right now, you need to focus on drinking your fluids, letting your body rest and heal from inside. each time anyone eats, drinks, pees, poops, their weight goes up and down. my advice is to continue to follow your dr's orders and the weight loss will start later on. dont stress yourself over things you cant control. -
Lap Band Vs Sleeve
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to dragonfli14's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
the decision is ultimately up to you (and your surgeon) i was uncomfortable having my stomach/intestines cut/removed. once that is done, there is no going back. i was more comfortable with the band. sure it can be removed if needed but it is meant to last forever. read and research and ask alot of questions. the band wont make you lose weight. it will help you but you have to do the majority of the work by eating healthier and exercising. the band is a plastic band that will make you eat less. good luck with whatever you decide. all the best -
Recovery Time?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to fostermomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
each person and there recovery time is and will be different. my advice is to listen to your body and follow your dr's instructions. i had surgery on a wed and planned on going back to work the following monday but ended up just taking the entire following week. i am glad i did. (worked from home on my pc) so that gave me piece of mind. -

Help! My Co-Works Are Trying To Talk Me Out Of It.
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to cassiem93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sometimes trying to (explain things) to people is like talking to a brick wall, the more you explain, the more they keep on telling you not too. this is your decision. if you want to be healthy and get yourself well, then do so. by telling people, especially ones without a weight issue or who dont understand what WLS surgery, you often find no support. if you want this, then do it with your head high and get on with it. do this for you and not (them) -
you will feel restriction due to the surgery. the other restriction will come with your fills later on. you just had major surgery so sip as much as you can and do your sf popsicles to help with that.
-
just do better tomorrow. let today/yesterday go. its over and never to be seen again.
-
for my surgery, i had to have chest xrays, meet with a nutritionist, have a mental eval, do a sleep test, have upper gi, some blood work and have my pcd write a letter of recommendation for me that showed my past attempts at weight loss.... i wish you all the best regardless of what surgery you choose.

have you completed all your dr's pre op's?

i am looking for healthy band friendly (low fat/low cal) chicken dishes. not a lot of ingredients is preferred but simple and delicious.
