    are you sipping your shakes? being swollen, you need to not drink too fast, doing so can make you feel icky..just a thought.. def stick to your dr's guidelines..cheating on diets is what got most of us needing weight loss surgery..

    sounds like you are just hungry. how about eating a healthier Protein snack instead of starchy potatoes (mashed or french fries) if hungry eat (but if you are on liquids, soft, you need to focus on your Protein shakes or even soft filling foods. protein will help you get full and feel full. cravings. we all got them. but its the choices we make that either keep us obese or get healthier. up to me. and its up to you.

I really want to be healthy..... *** the band is only a 3 inch plastic stomach necklace pretty much it will help you feel full on smaller amounts. it is up to us (me and you etc) to make good food choices and to eat (allotted amounts given to us by our doctors). you deserve to treat yourself better than you are doing. you said you are eating the wrong foods. there are no wrong foods per say. only better choices. you can eat whatever you want but if you do eat (those bad ones) just do them every so often. for example, once a week, i allow myself one meal splurge on whatever i want... too large of bites, that is what is causing your pain i am guessing, although i am not a doctor, i would think that is the cause. you have to eat small bites. missy once showed a pic of what a bite should look like. maybe dime sizes or skittle size?? that is what i try to make it.. ok, dont hate me but i am gonna be tough as you and i were banded nearly same time (i havent had a fill yet though, only difference...and that i was 100+ pounds bigger than you).. so here is the thing..you admitted you are eating (wrong) and too large of bites so stop. dont blame bad habits on this. this is you making a decision to eat those foods and to take too big of bites. you can choose to do better if you want too. so follow the instructions given to you. eat your meals but focus on Protein, veggies and fruits...stop at a cup or cup and a half of food and drink all day long....small bites that are chewed very well so they pass through your band. you can do this. if you really want to. i would give anything to be the weight you are right now, i am fighting like hell to get there. i want you to fight too. i am so proud that you are calling the dr for appt. do not ever be afraid of what they'd say. they are the ones who can help you. they need to know what is going on.....i am rooting for you. let me correct that, the Banded B's are rooting for you

    hi Jake i am only 5 months post op and so far i have had little trouble with (steak) and i am one who has to have it burnt/run over done....i cut into very tiny pieces and (i dip mine in ketchup) and chew the hell out of it..from what i have read on this forum, making it moist or (as nulie mentioned, gravy) perhaps that will work for you. all the best

    no. i havent. i have had tricare prime for 7 yeas now i have tricare prime and they paid all but 183 dollars if a dr refers you, you meet the qualifications, complete pre ops, dr submits for approval.... then tricare will pay for it by approving or not approving it.

    agree with rojo and everyone else...no to straws.....but ask your dr to be sure as that is whose advice you should be following. all of us are different and will do different things. what works for you may not work for someone else.......

    Hair

    i noticed about month 2 to 3 1/2, that in the tub, more hair and more hair. like the poster above me, i am thinned hair and was like WTF........but my surgeon i asked and he advised me that it would slow down and i am right at 5 months post op and its fine.....i do alot of Protein and take my Vitamins. some say the Biotin works and some do not......i will keep my opinion on that to myself and i put my trust in the protein and it seems to be working.. so it will slow down. i say that as that is what happened to me. if overly worried, ask your surgeon and let them advise..

    Drinking Before And After Meals

    like florida and new dawn, i drink before i start eating and then wait for 1/2 hour after.....i also drink/sip all day long.....i am easily 90+oz per day of liquids..

  19. i have to say, how did i lose the first 50 and beyond....by doing pretty much what Florida wrote here..esp the not cheating on pre and post op and making up my mind that this is what i wanted to do and then got on with it w/o excuses or needed drama.

    yes the plication does work, but you still have to eat proper proteins and the allotted amounts. in combined with my band, i am doing well and it gave me back my life.
