  1. just because you can eat more than your allotted amount, does not mean you should. eat like you have restriction now. dont wait for the magical fill..

    Getting Water In

being so soon after surgery, you are very swollen (hence why they want you to sip all day long) so sip as much/as often as you can. you must drink to stay hydrated. its vital. as the swelling goes down, it will start to become easier. so hang in there and congrats on your recent surgery

What About Our Fat Friends And Relatives

honestly, if someone would have approached me and said (hey you need to do something about your weight) **as if i didnt know**, i dont know what i would have done. i am from the school dont do to others what you dont want done to you. until a person is ready (and willing) to lose weight (the eating better/exercising/changing lifestyle) you can talk til the blue cows come home on the lapband/bypass etc...its gonna go in one ear and out the other. and then if you would have said it to someone with a low self esteem, like, it would have caused me major strife and i would have had a hum dinger of a eating frenzy... i would just do your thing and if they ((approach)) you, then offer how your health is better now because of the band. remember how fat people feel. we are harder on ourselves than we need be. just my opinion on your post.

    No Success

so have you lost *inches or bought smaller clothes? if so, then its working. dont claim the band isnt working or that you are doing all you can, if that is the case, then you need to go to your dr and get their advisement. and dont take (i dont know why as an answer). Because if you are exercising, eating your allotted (cup of food per meal) then something else is going on. agree with FL, if you give up now, you will stay where you are and get bigger. do you really want that?

This Isnt How I Thought Id Feel!

Not many people have commented to me on my weight loss, however I am totally alright with this. What is important is that I am aware and feeling better about myself. I validate myself for my progress, and don't care what others notice or fail to notice. ']Remember this is a process and not an event! You have made some excellent progress to date...keep your eye on the prize of a healthier you. You're well on your way.. sojo, words to live by my friend...
  8. well i was out of the (fat) category and into the morbid obese terms and soon to super obese...i couldnt hardly walk...was getting harder to take care of myself personally as my arms couldnt reach around my girth (sorry TMI) and i was in size 30 clothes and very concerned if they made them (bigger) and where to buy them... but the turning point was my granddaughter just born. i wanted to be able to push her around the block in a stroller. that is my motivation. my eryn. hope this is a good response to your post maya as its from my heart and 100% accurate.
  9. i am wearing a pair of jeans today, size 22..but just think, almost 6 months ago, that number was size 30....how's that for a great day.

How Did You Decide On Lap Band Versus Sleeve?

no matter which surgery one gets, unless a change in lifestyle happens, any WLS can not be successful... sure the bypass, the sleeve, the ds can make one lose faster but after about 2 yrs, the bands loss ratio can catch up (from my surgeon) weight loss wise.. so which ever WLS one decides to get, you must eat better foods, exercise, go into it with a positive (want to) attitude and a good support unit, you will do fine. if one goes in for the quick fix, wont change their attitude and doesnt adhere to the suggestions from the surgeon and nutritionist, then some will stay right where they are (blaming everything and everyone but themselves). i can say this because this was me not that long ago. i did not want my insides cut so i chose the band. because of my high bmi, the dr felt the bypass would be better....but i was told what changes i had to make in order to succeed and i am doing it...its not easy but it can be done, if you want it bad enough. all the best luck on whatever you choose.

    Taking Big Drinks

i asked my surgeon and jeanie this very question nope, you cant stretch it (as it goes right through) however, if you are newly banded and still swollen, it can cause discomfort....so best to sip or take little drinks
