Anyone else nave the post op pity party?

been there/done that. i have pity partys also and sometimes i invite only myself. ...now, i was also over 300 and wonder what the heck did i do?....i can beat myself up (just like you are) or realize what you just did........you had major surgery to save your life and help you lose weight. so fantastic....and there is nothing wrong with having a small aid *the band* to help you and me and everyone else lose weight and get healthy. .i am proud of you....now, you are recovering and you are tired, your body is trying to heal....as jersey said, it does get better..i know it dont look like it, but it will. i can promise that much.

  7. i could have wrote this post. first let me say, congrats on the no cheating. this lets me know that you are 100% serious and dedicated to your band journey that is about to begin. that is also telling me that you want to do this and will do whatever it takes. and with you doing that, this is giving you strength and giving your esteem a boost. go one day at a time. step by step. its a process. the pre , the surgery, the post and then beginning the journey. dont rush it. use each day as a sign of your success. i see it and i am in NC right now
  8. very high in sodium but there are options with low sodium, low fat or ff versions.
  9. i and some of my best friends will be thinking of you......def in our hearts/prayers/thoughts floridas.......you are awesome
  10. if you get the lap band, a diet is un-necessary just eat your allotted amount of good quality foods and exercise, and the inches/weight should steadily come off. that is how i am doing it. no tricks, no gimmicks, just doing what i have been advised to do.
  11. any surgery has had deaths. its a horrible thing. try not to worry/fret over that. trust your doctor. i have not known anyone who has died from any wls. i would have gotten worse and bigger if i didnt have wls. i took that small risk of complications/death in order to save mine.

    3 days post op...need help

being so new banded, and swollen, sipping/drinking too much at one time, you can get nauseated as i learned that quickly..so take baby sips..

    oatmeal!

def not any processed (ie: boxed) as floridas said, added sugars etc..i wasnt allowed oatmeal til week 3 but it had to be watery..so if you do, make it thin, go slow and chew well...4 days out, you are bound to be swollen still.

    6 month plateau

not a dr, just a ole redneck southern girl but i looked on livestrong.com...here is what i found for you (til you can get with your nutritionist/dr) so hope this helps: Aim for approximately 1,200 calories a day for a weight loss of one to two pounds per week, which is optimum for lap band patients. If you find yourself on a plateau, cut down to 1,100 or 1,000 calories until the scale starts moving in the right direction again. Formulas to calculate your daily calorie intake are available on the Internet. Read more: http://www.livestron.../#ixzz2FG9WrhKb

Banded 1 yr and have it removed!!

my good friend, jean mcmillian, had the band (and who wrote the bandwagon book)..well, she revised to the sleeve this year for reasons NOT related to the band. i will ask her to respond to this thread and offer some insight for you....sorry you are going through this.
