well, you cant do liquids for ever and throwing up is not a way to live with the band keep doing what you are doing, eating your allotted amount, exercising and let the band work..congrats on this new chapter in your life...imagine where you will be this time next year. -
how fast is too fast??
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to christysbandjourney's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
larger people tend to lose more at the beginning from what i understand..but as long as a loss is a loss (i will take it). congrats on your success so far. -
no other words needed: As the new year approaches, stop betraying yourself with the band. Follow your instructions that you were given and even if your weight loss is slow, a pound loss is a loss no matter how you look at it.

1 year...90 pounds...and some (hard learned) sage advice
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to cantbetoothinortoorich's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
i agree with missy and others on the seriousness of being too tight, tmf is dead on in regards that living on mush is not a way to live... "Folks who want their cake and and eat it too (literally) will opt to keep their band fairly open, allowing them to eat what they want" i guess this is me.. i eat what i want in smaller amounts and make good choices of crap food vs healthy foods. i dont have any fills and have lost 88 pounds with out one so far. so it can be done by eating to lose weight. -

A man is at work one day when he notices that his Co-worker is wearing an ear-ring. The man knows his co-worker to be a normally conservative Fellow, and is curious about his sudden change in "fashion sense" The man walks up to him and says, "I didn't know you were into earrings." "Don't make such a big deal, it's only an ear-ring," he replies sheepishly. His friend falls silent for a few minutes, but then his curiosity prods him to ask, "So, how long have you been wearing one?" "Ever since my wife found it in my truck."

☠carolinagirl☠ replied to Peaceful1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i dont know some dr's put some in at surgery and i think mine did but dont know until i get my first fill and take out and put some in... -
my hub has been my rock during my whole process he himself does not have a weight issue, but has lost about 10 pounds because he is eating better food..he did not have a wls so i dont see how i could change his life because i did.....being supported is a wonderful thing. i could NOT have done as well as i have without him batting 100% for me (and my girls).. just because he eats junk food, does not mean i have to, its about choices and want power.

Chest pain after eating
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to Peaceful1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
could be eating too fast (still swollen after surgery still) or too big of bites or too soon for what you are eating...or a combo of all three...best to eat slow, chew alot and be patient in healing. -
the band was/is major surgery it also will be successful if one has a major attitude change that means, to want to get healthy bad enough that you will adhere to what it all consists of. eating better quality food, in smaller amounts and exercising....if you help the band it will help you.

i had blood work, upper gi, 2 sleep testing, ekg, nutritionist visit, mental eval, chest xrays...and of course the pre op visit..so it encompasses alot. best to ask your dr who will be doing the surgery as results could vary.

Plastic Surgery for Skin Donation
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to RachelMMYHarris's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
found this online: http://www.livestrong.com/article/126643-donate-skin-after-bariatric-surgery/ Bariatric surgery patients commonly undergo plastic surgery, or body contouring, to remove excess skin and help reshape the body after they have lost a significant amount of weight. Advancements in medical technology have allowed doctors to use tissue from living donors in procedures such as breast reconstruction or abdominal wall repair following hernias. If you have undergone bariatric surgery and are planning on having any type of body contouring procedure, making the decision to donate your excess skin can go a long way to improving someone else's quality of life. Step 1 Talk to your doctor about your interest in donating your skin. Your surgeon will be able to provide you with additional information about skin donation and help you decide if it is the right choice for you. Step 2 Wait until you have maintained a stable weight for 12 to 18 months before undergoing body contouring surgery and having skin removed. Most patients who donate skin have lost 100 pounds or more. Having plastic surgery before your weight has stabilized may result in the need for additional surgery as your body continues to change. Step 3 Contact the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation to see if you are eligible to become a skin donor. Fill out the contact form on the MTF website, indicating your surgeon's name and telephone number, and the expected date of your body contouring procedure. MTF will contact you to obtain more information and schedule a medical assessment. Step 4 Be prepared to answer a series of questions regarding your medical history. The questions MTF asks are similar to those you have to answer when donating blood. U.S. food and Drug Administration guidelines prohibit tissue donation from individuals with certain "relevant communicable disease agents or diseases," such as HIV, hepatitis and certain STDs. Tips and Warnings The National Organ Transplant Act prohibits the buying and selling of organs and tissues. You will not be paid for your extra skin or reimbursed for your surgery, but donating your skin costs you nothing extra Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/126643-donate-skin-after-bariatric-surgery/#ixzz2GYnmChaD -

What's the big deal about patient compliance?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
every person with the lap band should read this especially the newbies and pre and post ops this is not a game or an easy way out. this is major surgery and needs to be treated with respect. and that means respect yourself enough to listen to your doctors.
