I've been eating clam chowder and chili before first fill!
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to QvoScorpio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
agree with grammy and missy you know it was wrong and you asked was it anyhow. def need to follow the dr's instructions. they are in place for a reason. more than likely nothing bad happened, but what if it had? would it have been worth it to eat just because you were hungry? -
what did you wear in the hospital?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to dolphintattoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i stayed in the hospital gown they put me in when i got there. (and a house coat to go with it). i stayed overnight also. i recall walking down the hall and to the potty and back. (i was lucky being in june, that i wore a sundress there and home so it was easy in and east out). -
Can't believe i did that...

mind over matter yes the food was there but you CHOSE to adhere to the band rules. great job. i hope alot of newbie banders read this and realize what you did by posting this. outstanding -
depends on the person how elastic is their skin, their genes, the amount of weight one needs to lose..as grammy said, toning will help but if its too saggy, you can always have skin removal surgery....i am ok with having saggy skin..anything is better than being over 300 pounds again...i will risk it

well, every dr is different my dr gave me a list of what i could have only Protein shakes, Water, tea, coffee, broth, SF popsicles (no sugar and no caffeine)...took 4 days of detoxing and it wasnt so bad..i was not to concern myself with cal counting as i was shrinking my liver. dr said if it was not as it should be when he operated, he wouldnt and that was the reason i did not cheat. hang in there...its only for aliitle while although it seems like forever when you are doing it -
i will email you tomorrow and hopefully we can figure something out..

once i found a dr who accepted tricare i had tricare approve me a visit to the surgeon the surgeon gave me a list of things i needed to do (pre ops) once completed, they submitted for tricare to approve tricare needs to have proof of past dieting attempts 100+ pounds overweight and some sort of medical issues, blood pressure , sleep apnea etc.. do you have all the things that tricare says you need?
-
does this mean you dont have a record of past dieting attempts as i know this is a must..

Did anyone postpone Lap Band after everything?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to makeyourself's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
sure i could lose weight without the band but i always gained it back...by doing all the wrong things.. this last time i got myself into a pickle at the highest weight ever.. and was having trouble walking and if i didnt get help, they'd have to cut me out of the house...that is why i went through with the band.. to save my life. -
Post-op diet, how many days til your DR said ok for solids?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to cantwait2start's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
as long as you follow your dr's instructions, you should do fine i was 2 1/2 weeks pre op liquids 2 weeks post op liquids 1 week mushies 1 week soft then as tolerated... after surgery its vital to let the insides heal regardless of those who ate shortly thereafter... this was major surgery and our health is worth more than (gotta eat because i am hungry) -
Sooo I'm finally seeking help with my weight issues

Liquid Diet Is Killing Me
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to shaunamswenson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mainly because you insdies are still heaing and eating something like a pizza could hurt you..i wrote that bc my dr's nurse told me a person did just that 3 days after surgery..needless to say she ended up in the hospital..but all dr's are different.and different time frames of post op dieting....its just alittle while longer and though it seems like forever doing liquids, it is there for a reason....my port area was sore/tender for about a month..each day you will get better -
Sorry to wear these boards out with posts

i find people who dont know about the band or understand exactly what it is, are the ones who are most vocal......along with the ones who do not use it correctly. this is your life this is about you and in the words of my bad a** biker hub in regards to anyone who doesnt like what he says or does.. f*** em as catfish said, make them eat crow -

☠carolinagirl☠ replied to ErinSue2000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

6 months in and titallt disgusted
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to gloriasaul's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
well, from what i understand, the band wont make you full but it will hep you eat less..i dont have any fills but i eat as if do. and if you are exercising and eating as you describe, it sounds like you are doing correct. just because the scale is not moving, does not mean the band is not working. -
Need a fill, but I don't have insurance and I'm not loosing
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to aloudwhisper's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
missy said it all and hit the mark as far as i am concerned...chose to eat good food in the allotted amounts and relaize 3500 calories is a pound whether its ate or drank and if someone takes in more calories than they burn off, then they most likely will gain. -
i dont have any fills but know the band is working so until i can get a fill , i am eating good foods and eating the allotted amount..i am not depending on the fill to help me lose weight...doesnt make me any better then anyone but i cant use me not having a fill as an excuse to not do what i can to help the band.
-
i work about 50 hrs a week plus home stuff and my hubs club stuff but you STILL HAVE TO MAKE TIME...some people have children and school and jobs and whatever but you have to make time to just do it..even if its 5 or 10 minutes, as long as you do it, thats success..the motivation is you wanting to lose weight bead enough to do something about it. only you can do it..the band will help..but you have to help the band
-
SOooo. Not losing at all!
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to nikils015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the first month is for basically healing and getting your mind frame in the game...so dont worry about (not losing right now).....follow your dr's guidelines..stick with it no matter what and soon, very soon, you will notice a big difference...you must heal first and the best thing you can do is realize this is a process and not an overnight miracle. ..so just because you can whatever, does not mean you should..still use your allotted amounts.
