  3. well, dont freek as it wont solve anything...just try and get to your dr as soon as you can if it gets bad..then go to er the roads are icy where i am at too....just watch it and def call dr to see them first thing monday..

    hub got me peach tea when i started pre op and now do not leave home without it in my pantry, i swear there at least 10 containers and i have 2 or 3 in my drawer at work..and in my purse...i also buy the walmart brand and its just as good if not better.

    band vs sleeve - how did you decide?

    seeing the scale at over 336 pounds, not being able to walk far or wondering do they make clothes bigger than size 30..that was my deciding factor along with being able to push my new granddaughter around the block. tricare does not cover the sleeve so that was not ever on the table. i did not want the bypass as i was too scared and my dr felt i should have it because of my size and high bmi. but i stuck to my guns..then he told me of the latest thing, the plication with the band..he stressed i would have to change everything about my life..in order for it to work..for me to lose weight, id have to help the band by eating better foods, and in my allotted amounts and follow the guidelines.. i think its successful so far (lost nearly 100 pounds since last june), and i feel with all that i am that any wls is successful if you really want it and do everything you can to make it happen. its not a magic cure all but it will work

    add me to this...as i was bathroom queen (pre and post) fluids in means fluids out........my dr okay'd me immodium a.d (maybe yours will too)

    How often do you weigh yourself?

    i am the odd ball of the bunch...i weigh once a month at my check up... works for me and that is what i care about.

    if you think you can't (your right) so begin to think you CAN when was on my pre op, i was whining to my old man and he said something i will never forget and it got me through and woke me up. he said you wanted this (this surgery) so do what you have to do to make it happen. hope this helps. it will get easier although while you are on it, it seems like its forever but in fact its only for a short while.

    absolutely i add raisins to mine when i eat it very filling (it is to me) and that is what i go for so many variations and brands and tastes best to buy other than a boxed item but if you can only do that, better than a biscuit from mcdee's any day in my book

    you (or i will use me as an example as that is all i know) i measure my meals to a cup (Protein the most/veggie/fruit)..i stop at 20 min (even if i am not finished or still hungry)..i do eat very slow, wee bites.. i know for a fact i can or could eat all day if i nibbled here and there so from what my dr's told me and from what i have experienced, stop at 20 min. and from what i know, the more filling protein foods i eat, the longer between meals i can go and that is what lets me know my band is working.

    (remember to try and stop eating at 20 minutes) once the swelling goes down and the appetite returns, you will need to remember to stop bc eating slow is what we do but if we keep on eating we can eat alot...

    i will pm my friend jean *who wrote the bandwagon book* and ask her to comment on this as this has happened to her...i hope she will be able to respond soon as missy says and i strongly recommend, ALWAYS call your doctor if something is wrong...

    Carbs

    i dont get into the low carb/ high carb etc i understand what is good/healthy food vs bad food i also prefer to eat more filling foods that fill me up instead of just tasting good and pass quickly..i also am extremely aware that 3500 cals (carbs or not) is a pound and i need to not take in more than i can burn off...i let the band do its job while i do mine making excellent food choices.

    dont stress the ones who say things i know its easier said then done.. you listen to your dr and your body as that is what matters yes, i recall my first food after 4+ weeks of liquid.. could have peeled me off the ceiling

    To Much Protein

    when hub made me a double protein shake (that was for breakfast and lunch but didnt tell me) and the ole gal here downed the entire thing, i know too much at one time can make you feel ill......my dr said 70+ per day.......if i am over or under, i am good either way..........its right, def can clog you up
