    Food post op

agree with above no problems should be happening if used properly trust me, you dont want bad things to happen as i dont either so i follow the rules.. stop reading the complications as yes it does happen, but not always the ones who dont have any issues are the ones who should post more..i wish the ones most vocal neg are the ones who divert off course mostly..

  11. I got this from our local paper (wral.com) and it was interesting to read on my lunch and just thought I'd share. While last year’s cold and flu season was mild, experts say this year could bring you a wallop of sniffles and sneezes. While there is no cure for the cold or flu, despite what mom says about her soup, over-the-counter (OTC) medications can provide relief for the most common symptoms. And these guidelines can help you better navigate the cold and flu aisle: Sneezing Got You Down? OTC antihistamines can provide relief from sneezing, runny noses and watery eyes by blocking the action of histamine, a chemical in the body that triggers congestion and upper respiratory discomfort. Constant Cough Cough suppressants, also known as antitussives, basically tell your brain to stop coughing. One commonly used cough suppressant is dextromethorphan, which relieves cough symptoms but doesn't speed recovery. If you’re producing mucus, however, don’t take a cough suppressant. Instead, look for an expectorant, a medicine that helps thin the mucus in the lungs and soothe an irritated respiratory tract. All Clogged Up! Decongestants like pseudoephedrine (PSE) relieve a stuffy nose and congestion by actually narrowing the blood vessels in nasal passages so you can breathe more easily. PSEs are now located behind the pharmacy counter because they are an ingredient that can be used to make the illegal drug methamphetamine (meth). Rest assured though, PSE has been safely used for decades. If you’re clogged up, consider treating your symptoms and doing your part to keep your community safer at the same time. Ask your pharmacist about new Nexafed 30mg pseudoephedrine HCl tablets, the next-generation PSE that provides the same effective cold and allergy relief from standard PSEs, but with technology that disrupts the extraction and conversion of pseudoephedrine into methamphetamine. Stop the Pain If your symptoms include muscle aches or high fever, consider an analgesic or painkiller. Most OTC analgesics fall in to two categories: acetaminophen or NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Both medications can reduce fever and ease aches and pains from the flu or cold. Scratchy Throat Help ease throat pain with cough drops or throat spray. While not a cure-all, cough drops or hard candy can help provide relief from a dry, tickling cough. Also consider taking a warm shower or using a vaporizer to increase the moisture of indoor air. No matter what your symptoms are, it’s important to get some rest and stay hydrated. Doctors recommend six to eight hours of sleep every night to fight and prevent illnesses and keep the immune system healthy. If you have any questions or doubts about which medications may be best for you, talk with your pharmacist. And if symptoms worsen or last for more than two weeks, be sure to see your doctor. More tips on how to prevent and treat a cold or the flu can be found at www.CDC.gov. Don’t needlessly suffer this season. With the right treatment, you can help alleviate your cold and flu symptoms.

Trying to decide what to do ...

like b52, speaking for myself only i let the band work also and i help it by eating healthy/filling foods in my allotted amounts, period. its an every day for me and its my world now 24/7..but i also know even i dont have fills, i have to do my part. i dont think (one should) depend on a fill to lose weight..i am living proof it can be done without one..it doesnt make me any better, i just have to try harder. not being being able to drink or eat because of it seemingly too tight, in my opinion is not living a happy life..being too tight to eat so one can lose weight hurts my heart to read...my dr told me people want that and i read it on this forum daily. go back to the basics protein/veggies/fruit in your allotted band amount drink alot and the hardest thing, help the band by letting it work am rooting for you

    PLICation woes

you dont have to the plication to be successful and lose weight some have it and do well and some dont means nothing unless its used properly focus on getting the band and following the dr's instructions and get healthy could not respond to your email from work as we left early today
  22. ☠carolinagirl☠

Negative Talk from family and friends

the ones i have found to be the most vocal against are the ones who have no idea what the band is or how it works and also the ones who divert from their dr's orders after surgery (ones who want a quick solve) you do this for you like you i got me a supportive rock who has been with me each step, each pound, pity party of the way. thats all you need besides your want to power deep inside. and some great support people on this forum. proud of you for making this decision.
  23. ☠carolinagirl☠

    Not losing anymore :(

yes be patient easier said than done but its a fact. the first month (4 to 6 weeks) is for healing your insides you and i did not gain weight overight so you wont lose it over night focus on (if you are on soft/mush yet) Protein and eating good quality foods you have to eat to feed your body..just because the scale is not moving does not mean our new band is not working..give it a chance. not trying to be mean but trying to get you keep positive even when you dont want to.
