let me add, to be a success, a person has to help the band. if you do this, you stand a great chance of losing. if not, you wont.

the first line of your post said this: " several people who've had adjustable gastric bands or lap bands fitted, looking for a 'quick fix' weight loss program" in my opinion, the ones who complain the loudest against are the ones who divert away from the band lifstyle. however things do happen. any surgery has complications. its a chance one takes. if i did not have this surgery, i would be over 400 pounds by now.... -
did you discuss this (research) with your doctor? nothing is guaranteed in life..but i accept this..i expect my band to be with me forever...wasting time worrying about something that may or may not happen is just silly..embrace this tool and think of how much healthier you are about to be this year. things do happen...complications arise...that is what life does..so you can either take the risk or put it off and get bigger....i chose to take the risk and am down 101 pounds....

well, for me, if i (think) i am hungry, i drink something...and if doesnt (help) i must then decide to eat or not and if i do, it is protein and filling....i realized this on my pre op and that if someone is eating around me or its (lunch time) at work, i wanna eat...so now i am in control..i eat when i am hungry.

☠carolinagirl☠ replied to jenc87's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
you make yourself go potty when you got to go you stop at gas station when your car needs gas and you drink when you are thirsty so (make) yourself take a walk..long or short....as long as you do it. i could barely walk to the end of my short driveway or down my long hall at home but i did it anyhow.....doesnt matter how far you walk or go.... as long as you do it.. this is my encouragement to you -

Any suggestions to curb emotional eating?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to lvlymaggie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i dont have any fills so i have to aware and also careful not to overeat the dr gave me a allotted amount to eat and i stick with it...i cant (fall back on my fill to help stop me)...i look forward to that in the future...i didnt get to over 300 pounds by not being a emotional eater.. now 8 months post op, knowing i have this extra helper inside me has given me support and a peace of mind..it will help me if i let it......just yesterday, i was struggling with some friend whom i thought was my friend and of course my daily work issue......before i would dive into bags of chips or hit my beloved mickey dee's.. now i take a time out walk up and down the halls at work take a bath get lost in my adult contemp books i read and talk with my lap band girls.. that is how i handle emotional eating now. def you will realize you are stronger mentally than you think you are
