patience is a virtue I don't have
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to halfbella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this was (me) in 2012 i hounded my insurance and my WLS doctor and let them hear me ROAR stay with it and you are right, it will happen you go girl....rooting for ya -
any WLS will and does have complications and any WLS can have no issues what so ever and any WLS will have good and bad and any WLS will have results that vary for whatever reason (dr issues, patient issues, WLS issues or a combo of both) but to lose weight, with any WLS, one must eat less calories than they take in (exercise/burn off)….and no WLS is better than the other.. get the surgery your doctor and yourself feels that works for you and your lifestyle….but remember, unless you change from diet thinking/mentality, no WLS will work….it is not an easy fix and when its not coming off (as fast as they thought), its a failure and off to the races of spouting anti WLS comments. best of luck to you…

to me, as i agree with butterfly here and others, a stall is in the mind...so for me, the scale is slowly moving downward....it sucks but i am staying the course...eating clean as i can, exercising and not being dramatic over the dictation of the scale and what it says or doesnt say.......on my TOM, i can gain 10 pounds...wanna talk FREEKIN out... anyhow, i use a pair of jeans as a scale....i am slowly getting into them..i have done that from the beginning (as i dont own a scale)...otherwise i would weigh every 5 seconds and let it rule my life (been there/done that).....reality is inches lost (baggie clothes, smaller sizes means we are losing actual and true weight).... stall small.........eventually the scale will catch up dont wait for it is how i view it

throwing up is not good (no matter how far out one is in lap band surgery) have you told your dr this happens? could be too tight from a fill perhaps.. please call and tell your doctor and see what they say....
-
only YOU can allow yourself to divert back to old ways so dont get back on track now....you are still thinking in diet terms you are not on a diet.....eat as good as you should (and you know how and what are better choices)......and exercise....only you can do that...... 3500 calories is a pound if you eat more than you burn off, you will gain no matter if you have a fill or bypass or sleeve or no WLS and if you get on the scale, what if you lose? see what i am trying to say? you could be PMSing, eating out has alot of salt so i see Water retention or you need a big poop who the freek knows......so if the scale goes up, it will go down once you get back to doing what you need to do dont use (no fill or not having one (me for instance) as a reason to go back to eating like we did before surgery....we do not have to do that.....banster hell is in our minds in my opinion just as rosettag said........

Trying to decide--Bypass or Sleeve?

How do you find a balance? (#bodylove)
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to ErinMarie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i accepted myself as a super morbid obese person i did not like it and so i sought assistance to help me.. i accept the fact that i am who i am ...no matter what the scale says or does not say (struggled with that myself this past week) and just because my clothes say this size does not make me any less of person we are who we are and we are beautiful dammit regardless of what the f**king scale says -
I am not as successful so far as I would like to be-emotional component
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to Gardnergirl2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
*am tried of self sabotaging my life. I am tired of being sad about a situation that I can not change. I am ready to get serious and get healed* this is the part i am referencing here madam..you cannot control the past..it is what it is and never to return but you CAN change today/the future by what you do.....and def by what you think...if you are truly serious, get off the pity bucket (sorry but this is how it got through my big ol woe is me self).....whats done is done...you have today.....so do it today what you need to do.....to be a failure, you must quit....you have NOT done that or you would not be posting this.. what matters is you..not the dr or your (frend enmey?)..you are worth living..so live...you know what to do (eat clean as can be and exercise and stay hydrated)....but you have to do it...so put your shoulders back...put that gorgeous head up...strap on some high heels (or go barefoot) and put one foot in front of other and DO it......make yourself well... doesnt matter how long it takes as long as YOU get there. i believe in ya. CG -

June Bander!
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to wonderpooh2u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am a june bander also (from 2012) just relax and follow whatever your doctor advises (no matter what you read/here on this forum or on the world wide web). everyone is different and everyone will have different results (losses/experiences)...do not expect it to be a miracle as you will need to change not only how you think but what you do...the band (or any WLS) is a aid or a tool or a helper to help us get our lives in better health to live a long time..this is YOUR year and a new life/better health ready to happen. i am so excited for you. all the luck in the world my dear. -
How much weight should one lose in a week?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to lorena verdugo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
a loss is a loss (no matter how much or how small) larger BMI people can lose faster at the beginning... accept it as losing....because when it slows down and it will, you will be happy to just be losing.... -

☠carolinagirl☠ replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Did working out slow your weight loss?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to tigermom12's topic in Fitness & Exercise
like my friend bandie, exercise (not only helped aid my lost numbers via pounds) but helped me lose inches....imagine a size stretch 30 to a size 12/14....big difference...and inches lost is reality as we all know the scale moves up and down all day long.....exercise is wonderful.....i couldnt walk hardly at my highest....i had WLS to be able to walk my granddaughter around the block.....and now i am grateful to exercise again......when you cant do something (simple like walking or wiping your butt) when you can, you relish it... -
Hardest thing for you?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to snowkitten's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
forgiving myself for allowing myself to fit into the super morbid obese category..i had to weigh on a scale for the largest of large people in the doctors office.....they had to take my blood pressue with them super sized cuffs and i remember people looking at me and seeing will your fat rub off on me looks as i wallowed my way down the hall to the bathroom here at work...forgiveness is hard....i still find myself hating myself sometimes and even though i have lost (a lot) and gained better mobility which is what i wanted (not to be thin)......i still seem little reminders to what i did to myself (the saggy upper arms, the saggy mammoth stomach apron, the upper thigh areas).....reminders that i see daily.......and sometimes, forgiving myself is hard.... so that is what is/has been the hardest for me... i thought it would be me not drinking my coors light...... -
just walking and doing step aerobics *every day i do one or the other or both* if i dont, who will??

What percentage is your protein, carb and fat intake daily?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to mommyjamie's topic in Food and Nutrition
like the others, protein is key for me.......70+ per day is my goal and i also focus on my liquid intake (96 oz +)....but always mindful of my cals in vs cals out difference (as 3500 cal ate/drank is a pound) and if i take in more cals than i burn off with living/moving/exercise, i will not lose). -
5 days post op and I'm hungry.
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to graymittens's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you first please follow your doctors guidelines as its vital to let your insides (heal)........you are just recovering from major surgery and those stitches inside are fresh and eating whatever you want it not the way to do...not worth a risk to hurting yourself due to being *hungry*. what to do?.....stay busy......read, walk, shop, drink more, make out with your spouse on the couch, sit in sun, sit on front porch, go to library.... SF popsicles were my saving grace..... -
Can too much water in a short period of time stretch your pouch?
☠carolinagirl☠ replied to mommyjamie's topic in Food and Nutrition
liquids go straight on through...i was concerned about this also after my surgery and that is what my dr told me....dont worry....just heal and relax and enjoy a better/healthier life.. -
