    differences in doctors orders

yeah, its crazy at how different they are (some pre op diets, some not) etc. but while I cant say why they differ so (considering its the same surgery) I can only recommend going by what your specific doctor says. I have asked mine about things I have read on this forum. he shook his head mostly at the (wild assumptions and the blatant noncompliance some so openly admit to) but that is them. anyhow, I do think it is strange..oh well, it is what it is .

    Pudding

did your doctor give you a hand out to what to eat or not to eat post op? if not, you need to contact them and follow their guidelines. on this forum we can only offer you what (our) doctors recommended, it may not be what yours wants. best to check with this as some as stated before me

    Band Slip

i agree mainly because i think the band is sewn onto the stomach. but am not a doctor: here is what i found when bay mentioned to this me this a.m. One of the long-term complications of lapband surgery is called“Lapband slippage” and can be defined as “when the Lapband and the stomach pouch are both prolapsed.” This means that the lap band has shifted position and the enlarged stomach pouch has also shifted or twisted so that food does not go through thelapbandinto the rest of the stomach. This may result in pain, discomfort, decreased appetite and inability to eat or drink, and vomiting. Lapband Slippage does not happen immediately but may take several months to develop. LapBand Slippage generally develops in a progressive manner. As food intake is increased, the stomach begins to stretch and grow and the patient may stop losing weight or start to regain weight. At this point, patients may only exhibit an enlarged stomach Lapband pouch. This can be medically treated by deflating the lapband to release pressure and slow the growth of the pouch (successful in 70% of cases, or surgical treatment can be considered). However, if the enlarged lapband pouch continues to grow, the lapband progressively rotates until both the lapband and the enlarged pouch become prolapsed, resulting in Lapbandslippage. This is followed by functional stenosis (narrowing) of the stomach. Risk factors or causes of lapband slippage include surgical technique, model of the lapband used, early consumption of solid foods, early inflation or filling of the band, consumption of carbonated or sparkling beverages, and frequent vomiting. How Do I Prevent LapBand Slippage? In order to decrease the risk of developing lapband slippage, it is important to follow the recommended diet following surgery and to avoid introducing solid foods too early. In addition, the fills should not be started before 6 weeks post-operatively and these Lapband fills should be very gradual. We also recommend that fills should be done under fluoroscopy, even if you are asymptomatic (no symptoms of lapband slippage), to be able to monitor the position of the lapband, and the size of the stomach pouch and condition of the esophagus. This will allow for early diagnosis of an enlarged stomach pouch or possible lapband slippage. http://arturorodrigu.../comment-page-6

Some Thoughts and Plans and Goals

great job on the swimming. that is great exercise. am also glad you stopped weighing as much because sometimes the scale is just not right and if you gain (for whatever reason) it just ruins your happy attitude esp when you KNOW you are on it and doing fabulous. as long as you are losing inches, then you are losing and i know you are. good luck on the upcoming fill

    It hurts....

    Frustrated

are you losing inches? are your clothes getting too big or more roomier? are you feeling better? if so then the band is doing its job and making you well and you are losing regardless of what the scale says or doesnt say. i dont have any fills but i am adhering the band lifestyle and doing what i can until such time as i do get one..i also have a 14cc band..just keep eating the proper amounts of food, make excellent food choices and exercise and it will happen.

    When Do you Get Fills?

good question and i see it on this forum all the time and a zillion different answers because we all have different doctors. the best answer i can offer you is for you to ask your doctor on their particular fill protocol.

Is it too late to firm up?

never to late to exercise and do your body good. so what to alittle saggy...you can do what you can with what you have, exercise and hope it tones/tightens it up OR you can have surgery..... but what matters is your better health and you my dear have done that. this close to goal...how utterly terrific is that. i have said it before, i will take some saggy on my legs/arms/tummy (my arms i could take flight i swear) and its okay w/me..better than being over 336+ again..

completely normal esp the (phantom shoulder pain although not as much as before) as it did that exact thing you described....but your dr could offer better advice
  22. pondered if i should post this or not, but i realized that although its good, it is also sad. this time last year (picture short female, wide as is tall, butt with own zip code, 336+ pounds, bmi 62) and trying to walk through the hospitals/rehab clinics, up and down stairs at inlaws house to clean or from room to room .. 9 months ago, this would NOT have happened. there was no way in heck i could have walked all through the hospitals (long hallways) to the parking lots that are a mile long it seems.....etc.. there was no way i could do it. i couldnt stand more than 5 min without me having to sit down. i just couldnt do it. granted my hubs family situation is not good right now but me being able to (help) him by not only being with him mentally but BEING able to actually be with him physically is my success if you will. i thank my band/plication for helping me being able to do this. because i know that if i did not have surgery, i would not have been able to. and that is a fact...thought i would share.
  23. dont cry....if you really want this, then have a wls but go into 100% any surgery has risks (from manicures to wisdom teeth)..nothing is for sure..heck godzilla could walk on my house but i am not gonna worry about it.. ...sure i was scared...i had trouble wiping my butt it was either do it or get bigger... that was 9 months ago...
