Newly banded - struggling with liquids

you are so very newly out of surgery and your insides are swollen, bless your heart..its hard to get anything down...i recall that was the issue with me..(have no fear as the swelling subsides, it will get easier)..you need to sip and sip some more and then sip more,,staying hydrated is key.....SF popsicles saved me...and little sips of protein is important as that will feed/fuel your body until reg foods are started again....its hard yes, but its worth it...hang in there okay

    Streched Pouch...

i agree with missy and cheryl and love and donna throwing up is NOT good and it (sounds as if you are too tight)..but i am not a doctor...but eating chips/dip is not the way to lose weight in my opinion i see nothing of you eating veggies/fruit or lean filling Protein but cheap slider/processed foods..just because one can eat more than they are suppose to (in my case my dr advised about 1 cup of food)....does not mean they should....def go to your dr and advise them of what is going on and let them help you...problems can arise later on...hang in there okay
  3. marci whatever you decide, just do your best as that is all you can do.

tmf, you should post this all the time, maybe it will eventually sink in

    Why?

i agree esp with the part of some not caring or paying attention to the signs from the band that say, hey, i am here.....let me work...some seem sooo heck bent on losing 20+ pounds a week and stress if they dont...let the band work..... .let me add, i had my 10 month post op last week and asked why can i feel restriction with the band and some dont and he said he didnt have an answer as he said he didnt know...he said some do and some dont....i am one who does.

    No fill?

like IP and others, no fill here ether but i also have plication which helps me feel fuller on my allotted amount..i had my 10 month post op last week and asked why can i feel restriction with the band and some dont and he said he didnt have an answer as he said he didnt know...great job on the loss....it can be done without a fill .......i think of a fill in the future as an extra bonus
  7. i have had major surgery before and it was exhausting completely and not just pain wise.....surely a newbie who never had surgery could be suprised....but i have read numerous posts in my year here where after surgery, some are completely shocked that it hurts alittle bit...seems like the dr's are not doing their job and the patient really needs to realize its major surgery at least.

    Soft drinks????

agree with miss and maddawg and others, my dr and nutritionist advised me not too for various reasons. I chose to adhere to what they said. it works for me. I miss diet coke heck yeah.....but I love knowing I have lost 113+ pounds so far more....

Maybe the grass isn't always greener

TMF, I feel things happen in all WLS, good and bad. At least that is what I was told. Were you told that also? So it should not be a surprise to anyone that complications do and can happen. I was made aware of it. Its a shame dr's do not tell their patients or the patients don't listen and are on the say anything to get the surgery kick and no listening ears. You and Terry made some excellent points as did Elcee.

    One Hour at a Time

as long as you do what works for you, that is what matters...I have never smoked but I have heard stopping is brutal..my words of hang in there and stay positive most likely mean nothing but its true and from my heart....hang in there. you are way way stronger than those cigs

I want to succeed at this...

It is hard to really make someone who hasn’t been there yet believe that is does get better. Most people get to the first few days, think it is too hard and therefore they are doing it wrong and just give up. Well, it IS hard. Sorry, I know that is not the answer you want, but it is the truth. You just have to remind yourself that the habits you are trying to break are ones that you have had for years – do you really expect to break them overnight and for it to be a piece of pecan pie? I can tell you though that it is so, so worth it. Once you get past those first few weeks and you are feeling amazing and loving the changes your body is going through, you will look back and thank yourself for pushing forward. You just need to start. Set small and realistic goals and make one change at a time. The main reason you should be doing this is for yourself and for your health. There are going to be negative people no matter what you do. Well sadly you can’t stop them having that opinion, but who cares what anyone thinks.

DAY ONE OF PRE OP LIQUID DIET

the first 4 or 5 days (in my world) was the hardest. i had to do 2 1/2 weeks of liquids before and 2 weeks after. my hub told me one day when i was whining badly.....he turned and said, you wanted this...so do what you have to do to make it happen and i did.....and so will YOU. its not easy..but it does get better and if you believe you can, you WILL.

    Food ahhhhhhhh !!

add me to the list of eating what i want (to quote TMF) to eat like a bandster...which means to me (in my opinion) small bites, chew alot and go slow.... having the band will help you eat less but my dr did not say nope CG you cant eat this anymore.....he just told me to make better food choices..life is too short to not eat a piece of cake on my birthday.

    Pre- op diet stinks

i remember well starting my liquid pre op. i had to do 2 1/2 weeks being a southern gal and lots of hubs biker friends over at the house on weekends and us (frying everything) i was thinking there is no way...but you know what.....i managed to pull through it and so will you. to me, the first 4 or 5 days were the hardest....it showed me that there is something called head hunger (i wanted to eat because they were eating) and i also found out quickly that i was stronger than i thought i was and so are YOU. keep drinking stay busy stay positive
  22. if you are struggling today, keep going forward..do not give in because YOU are stronger than you think you are....and if you think you can, you WILL
