    Beware of the UN-fill !!!

i got the lapband because i was fat/lazy and overate huge amounts of fast foods, chips etc...i feel once a person accepts what the problem is, they can fix it. i do not have any fills *just a starting primer at surgery and i have no idea how much* but i do watch my caloric intake and try to eat better foods...and i feel is someone gains (65 pounds after a fill), they overate/drank more calories than their bodies burned off and hence the weight gain...i can say this and its true because i did not get over 300+ by dieting.....that being said, you stated you were a success, excuse me, you still are.... so to lose weight, do what you and everyone who has the band is suppose to do...eat better foods in the allotted amounts (stopping at 20 min mark) and let the band control the quantity..i understand fills help with the controlling the quantity......and because you can eat more then the 1 cup (or whatever your dr recommends) doesnt mean you should...that goes for whether someone has the sleeve or band or ds or bypass..you drink/eat more calories than you burn off and you WILL gain weight. again, BEST of luck to you. hope it truly works out.

  8. there is a nice older couple who lives across the street...you know the hi and bye waves and when they are gone or we are, we take the mail and paper etc.... so the day before yesterday, me and my doberman kabo were in the front yard just sitting on the front step....and she came outside and said *you are looking so good. i bet you are feeling so much better*. i said i sure am and thank you... later when hub came home, i said you didnt tell the lady across the street of my surgery did you. he said last year at my surgery and i was home 8 days from work, she came to him when he was outside and asked was his wife okay as she noticed my car was in the driveway and hadnt left....he said he told her i was having WLS..... kinda surprised i asked him why on earth would you tell someone this and he said cos i am proud of you thats why so if someone compliments you, smile and say thank you that is what i did and then use that for you to keep going..

    weight gain

the band (to my understanding) wont make you full.....it will help you eat less so its up to you to choose what foods to eat....but def drink alot and fill up on protein (to help you) feel full longer until you get that fill..but dont just think the fill will help you lose weight.....(i dont have one and i am losing) because i am making sure i am eating my allotted amount and careful of my cal intake...(if you eat more cals then you burn off, you will gain)....band or no band..

    is walking enough???!!!

as eye candy said, if you are losing (inches aka clothes getting too big) then you are losing regardless of what the scale says or doesnt say....when i started, all i could do was walk.....and in 10 months, surpassed even what my dr thought i would.....heck even what i thought.....and i would have to say, in my opinion, walking is enough.....(now that i can walk farther, i walk up hills...can feel it in my thighs)...good job on the loss so far.
  12. hey donna.....def let us know what the dr said about the hair thing..about 3 months out, i noticed more hair in my tub for about a month..i always look when i get out to see if i am losing....as i have such thin hair anyway...but i keep up the protein and it def seems to have helped me (nails grow faster etc)....hang in there kiddo

    Confused, upset

here i thought i was gonna read you ate like a couple of pizza's...well whats done is done my friend...so forget it and move on. if you were hungry (was it because you were truly hungry) or did you just think you were aka head hunger? .....2 weeks post op, what phase does your dr have you on?.....if you are hungry, drink some Protein (if you are on liquids still)... i would say to eat more filling foods as that helps you not be soo overly hungry and def drink alot... (bread is not very filling in my opinion). i love subway too..i have a 6in tuna last night.....ate the tuna and fed the 6in bread to my dobermans...... hang in there as steph says it will get better/easier

such a great job and a great motivation for you

    Beware of the UN-fill !!!

good luck on your surgery that is coming up. wish you all the best....the part that struck me in your post was that you gave up and gained 65 pounds. to gain you must eat more cals than you burn off....the band will help one eat less but one must help the band also... and if you gained that much, you were clearly overeating..
  19. ☠carolinagirl☠

    What's the right amount????

i was told to eat about a cup of food (protein first, then veggie and fruit)... i am sure if i tried i could eat more then i am suppose to but just because i can doesnt mean i should....def get a scale and measure and def ask your dr or nutritionist if you are concerned or just need a refresher ...as for plate, i use a small salad plate and sometimes a coffee cup saucer
  20. ☠carolinagirl☠

    tell me about peanut butter

good source of protein good source of fat....but alittle dab here and there will do you but also jif has little pre portioned packs to go that are easy

8 days post op and lapband hell!

as swelling subsides, the hungry comes back....here is where you realize the first month is to let you insides heal from major surgery..adhere to the phases and stay hydrated...focus on starting amd making good habits/choices...its hard--dammit but it is...but it will get easier as each day passes..and in 6 months time, you will be telling something the very thing i told you....to hang in there
  23. ☠carolinagirl☠

    Does this really work?

yes it works but you also must def change the mental thinking instead of does it work to what do i need to do to help my band work...are you eating the allotted amount of foods your doctor advised? are you drinking your liquids? pain from eating could be from too big of bite, eating too fast or a bands way of saying you are full so stop. the band isnt an overnight thing. it take time and it requires patience. hang in there. mis is giving you good advice.
