  1. i had a last meal the day before pre op...like b52, i dont miss eating like i use to. since banding and great support from a group of friends on here, i have found myself not living to eat like i use to..now i just live...(although once a week, i eat whatever i want to).

    Band vs Sleeve

whichever surgery one gets, unless they help (the WLS tool they chose) as in changing what they eat to better quality foods and start to exercise, nothing will help..its a total life change..def a huge mental change.. too many people are thinking if they get a surgery, poof the weight will just be gone in a months time... its not like that... it takes some effort... so unless some effort is given (eating better, following dr's instructions on how to get well) the bypass, the sleeve, the ds, the band wont work..the patient must also do some work...and be honest... i chose the band to save my life. the sleeve was not covered by my insurance. the dr wanted me to have the bypass because of my high BMI when i started... i am sure he saw only doom in my future...proved him wrong...whatever you get, get it and get on with living life.

    cross legs

confession.....been 2 to 3 years since i have been able to do what my title says. today i went into the lobby in our office building during my lunch to get away from it all and have some me time and sat in the chair and for whatever reason, crossed my legs...i was like WTheck?? here is something stupid, i took a pic and sent to my hub and said lookie here at what your ole lady can do...imagine that...took me nearly a year....wonder what i will be able to do on year 2

    I Stumbled.......

well whats done is done...i dont know what post op diet your dr advised but if they gave you one, its best to follow it as your insides are still healing and taking too big of bites could hurt the inside stitches...stay with your allotted amounts of food and def try to make better/healthier options..you deserve it.

    Not losing

if you are losing inches, then you are losing regardless to what the scale says. just keep doing what you are doing as it is working. it may not seem like it, but it is plus you are still newly banded. give your body some time to heal/rest after surgery and it sounds as if you are doing the exactly correct things. good job.

    Choosing band over...

no matter what WLS one gets, all have good and bad and all have differerent results...that being said, whichever one chooses, unless the person changes what they eat (from junk to better options) exercise (even alittle as i did when i started) and help use the aid, no surgery will work...so many people think just have WLS will guarantee weight loss...maybe sometimes but in reality, in the long run, it comes down to eating less calories then one takes in and the band helps with that... my ins does not cover the sleeve or the ds and i did not want to cut my insides, once that is done, there is no going back. so i opted for the band..the dr wanted me to do the bypass because of my size, but now he calls me his super star...whichever one gets, do the best you can and make it work....

Going home but worried about port sticking out!

heck i didnt know for sure if i had one as much fat as i had on my stomach..and even asked my surgeon, are you sure you put the band in me? i sure dont care if it sticks out or not right now as i am in process of losing..i see it as a little reminder that i have a friend helping me get healthy. ...dont fret right now, you may come to see its not visable at all..after surgery, my tummy was swollen for about a month...it will go down.

    help

dawg said exactly what i was thinking, protein.....as i understand it, the band wont help me (not be hungry)...but it does help me not eat as much and also i found if i eat more filling foods (aka protein and veggies) i am able to stay (full)....that being said....drink alot to combat head hunger (us just thinking we are hungry) and def get the mindset and stay busy.....on the weekends i prepare all my meals for the week ahead so i can grab and go and if i am hungry, they are in the fridge ready for me to take and eat.....hang in there...

i use the whey extreme from walmart in chocolate (have one every morning)) with milk..its very good...and i put in freezer if i want a wendys slush type drink...i did that during pre and post op and ate with a spoon....the cookies and creme flavor is good also....14.99 per tub and 28 grams of protein per scoop. (+ ff milk protein).
