    Recovery Time???

i took off 8 days from work and work at a desk.....i so am glad i took that time off to rest and get situated with my new life. i was sore (tender) in my stomach mainly the port area for about a month and otherwise, it was quite uneventful...just go slow, dont over do it or rush it....and let your body heal as this is major surgery..i am sure you will do just fine and dandy.

    Cravings

you can eat whatever you want...the band will only help you eat less (with proper restriction)...it is up to the person to decided to eat better foods besides junk food...its not a diet.....just better options....baked vs fried, fresh vs boxed and veggies/fruit.....dont mourn anything......welcome a better life for your self with change..is how i see it.......

    Need an explanation about "restriction"....

when i was newly banded, and my insides swollen when i would sip and or eat my allotted amount, i felt full (like i had just eaten a huge thanksgiving meal)..that is what restriction feels like to me.....my band and plicaition give me that full feeling now and i listen to my body for signs/signals..even if i can eat more than i am suppose to, i dont...to me its not about restriction, its about me using common sense and letting the band work to help me feel full..

    weight loss?

lets seejim lost 200 pounds in just over a year missy lost 200 in about a year i lost 124 in a year shrc lost 100 in about a year and i could go on and on....... what slow losses?? the band works if a person helps is.... just having WLS wont just magically make one lose weight.. granted with the sleeve/bypass it will come off quickly, but if the eating habits dont change from junk food to more healthy food, no WLS will help..

    Drinking and really uncomfortable...

recently banded = swollen insides it makes it hard to swallow and it def makes you feel full. it will pass as the swelling goes down....but as karen says, drinking too fast or too much (same with food) does give you that icky feeling also.. go slow....dont rush the healing.....it was major surgery..

I am not dieting. I'm enjoying life with a band.

what a wonderful thread parr add me to this list of the band not (allowing me to overeat)..as if i even get to that stage, i become very uncomfortable and make the decision to stop.. i agree that a person CAN eat better food and NOT make excuses. i feel whole hearted that it basically comes down to the person and their honesty with themselves..i believe in want power. i want to lose weight bad enough that i am doing WHATEVER it takes to make it happen. its hard to read day after day of people saying the band doesnt work and the band failed and on and on...granted things like complications do happen but i believe a person who went through the process of WLS needs to be responsible for themselves and take charge of the situation at hand... you eat more calories than you burn off, you will gain weight, WLS or not the band won't let me eat more than i can burn off it DOES work...people just need to let it..

Diarrhea on day 4 of liquid diet

100% agree with karen...liquids in and liquids out if dr okays it, immodium ad is a life saver as is taking a probiotic...
  18. ☠carolinagirl☠

    Who has cheated

no, i did not cheat before surgery or after....it doesnt make me better or stronger than anyone but i was 336 pounds......and 5'2 on a good day.....was as wide as i was tall....cheating on diets got me to that size..as did eating junk and sitting on couch 24/7... i decided once if i was approved for surgery, i would do everything i could to make myself well......i MADE the decision to either do it the right way....or just BS my way through it and remain big and blame everyone but me.....

How often do you weigh yourself?

i agree with the b when she wrote to do what works for you.. i am the odd ball...i weigh once a month at my dr follow up apt's i judge my (loss) by inches lost and my mobility...it works for me and so far for good.
  21. ☠carolinagirl☠

    FUSTRATED, NOT LOSING WEIGHT

i find it hard to believe that after surgery, they offered no post op diet guidance or any nutritional information..did you see a nutritionist before surgery? if not, you need to now per missy comment....
  22. if your dr okays it, immodium ad works wonders....also starting a probiotic helps also feel better soon
