  1. I had my first fill today too....3.5cc. Boy, what a change!! I'm glad though! Mr doctor told me soft foods for a day and a half...soups, puddings, yogurts, mashed potatoes, etc. It's crazy how different doctors are. I just had some egg drop soup for dinner. Too afraid to try anything else. Is it normal to fill this tight initially after a fill and then it loosens up? This is crazy tight. Bring on the weight loss!!

    Bad Breath......p.u

What's ketosis? Never heard of it? Great!! I'm a little worried now!
  4. ME!!! WHen my dr called to check on my 8 days post op I told him this exact thing. He said some people have this surgery and after their tummy heals there is NO restriction whatsoever. Others have some, but you and I are the lucky ones who have nothing,. If it weren't for my scars I would never know anything about me changed!! WE just have to hang tight until we start getting fills. IT is very difficult. I finally had to get rid of the scale. WE aren't supposed to be losing weight easily right now. Yes, we could if we really tried, but trying got me to this point. I can't diet on my own. I need this tool. Hang in there!

    24 Hours Down

Every day will be a little better then the one before. The first 3-4 days are the worst and then you see a marked difference each day. Hang in there!! I had the same as you...hernia. That pain is normal. The gas is the worst, but seems better after a week. Walk, walk, walk and take some gas relief meds. Good luck

    Help!!!! Weight Gain :(

I am right where you are...no worries. I was banded on March 6th and don't get my first fill until April 16th. I have gained weight back but was told to just stay off the scales, do what I can to get to the 16th and not worry about it. Our bands aren't working right now and aren't supposed to. Once we start getting fills the show will start. Until then, just relax and know that good things are coming! Your body is getting all healed from the surgery which is a good thing. Our journey really hasn't started yet. It will!!!

    Food Drama!!!!

I just tell people I'm not feeling well or that I am trying to eat healthier. I would go as that is the right thing, but whoever told you people would be upset if you didn't eat is a crack head. That just doesn't happen. You come first. Take care of YOU!!

    Day 2

Bummer. Sorry to hear that! The pain meds don't help much with the gas. It sounds like you need GasX and lots of walking. IT will get better. I felt better after NOT taking the pain meds and just working on the gas. I do believe that is the majority of the issues. Good luck!

    Is This Normal??

I was bloated for quite awhile. Plus IV fluids. YOu really can't expect much weight loss. I think I lost an additonal 5-6 pounds the first week after surgery but then it comes back FAST when you start advancing your diet. Then you get to joing Bandster Hell while you are waiting for your first fill.

    Pain Meds

I take pills too and have since day 2 of post op. My doctor said anything larger then an m&m to cut in half. I haven't gotten a pill stuck yet and I am 3 weeks post op and now swallow them whole. Sometimes two at a time if I am in a hurry.
  12. I am 3 weeks post op and my scars are healing well they are still very red though. I read to not put Neosporin on them. Anyone know why? What have you put on your if anything to help them heal, not itch, etc. Anyone??

    Post Op Restriction

I only had restriction for about the first 8-10 days post op. I am now 3 weeks out and feel like I never had the surgery. It really gets me down some days, but I know this is totally normal and that my body is just healing and that the banded isn't set up yet. Once I get my fill in a couple weeks I will be ready to roll. Until then Bandster Hell it is. I am really having to rely on good will power which I suck at. Hang in there! You are normal!

    Scared Of What Will Happen

As hard as it is to believe some people sabbatoge you when they are jealous of you. I am guessing they would love to have the surgery but can't. I know many people personally what have had this surgery and have read about millions more. Yes, you will throw up if you eat too fast or too much but that can be so controlled to where it may not even happen. You will still be able to eat and live your normal life. THis is just a tool. Some people still struggle with losing weight on the band as there are ways around the band. It is not a cure. IT is a great tool to assist you. WHo doesn't need that? If 5 years down the road comes and you are gaining weight, go back and get a fill and you are good to go. If you use your band as you should you won't gain the weight back. Do what is best for YOU, not them!!

    Please Stop It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the surgery has a risk as does any, but my response to the people that say this to you is this---I am at a greater risk of dying staying the weight I am or larger and not doing anything about it. I don't know about you, but I was all about the one time risk of a 40 minute surgery as opposed to a life time of a bomb ticking...my heart!!!! You will be fine! If it feels like the right thing to do, to you, then it is!!

Three Weeks Post Op And Weight Gain!

I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and not losing either, but I know this is how it goes so it's all good. My goal is to just maintain as I could easily just pig out right now. I figured I have already made the commitment to do this and have lost 26 poounds up to this point, why completely blow it because it is normal. I surely am going to try to maintain. We will get there. We haven't even really started yet, so hand tight. The best is yet to come!!!
  20. Good idea!! I am 2 1/2 weeks post op so I am in bandster hell right now, but still trying to stick to eating well. Breakfast--2 egg whites, 1 egg yolk Lunch--1/2 turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread and applesauce Dinner--grilled tilapia, and half of a bacon potato with ff sour cream I didn't add the calories up but from all of the weight watcher days, I know I'm good. Tonight I will either have a ff fudgesicle or yogurt.

    Preop Diet

You can do it!!! Consider yourself lucky as I have heard of people on here who only got skim milk for two weeks, or all protein shakes and nothing else. Enjoy the chewing you are getting It could be worse! If you can get through the preop you can do everything after surgery. I looked at it as an endurance test! You can do it!!!

    Death?????

I guess I would just say that there is risk with any surgery. It is very low with this one though, since it is laproscopic. Another thing to think about.......what are your chances of an early death by NOT doing this and staying the way your are?? I have no idea what your situation is, but obviously since you are pursuing the lap band you are overweight. The risks of staying overweight were far greater than the teeny tiny percentage of people who die during this procedure. Best of luck!! I am less than two weeks out and couldn't be happier with my decision!
  23. I was startving so I advanced my diet really early. I was feeling really good and talked to my dr. He said the only concern is throwing up and taking the chance of hurting your bad. So, he said as long as I chew, chew, chew and take it slow and nothing is getting stuck that I would be fine. I ate enchilads at 8 days post op and did fine. He told me to go with full foods this Thursday which would be 16 days post op but not white bread or raw veggies. So I definitely would stay away from those. Eat what you want just chew the heck out of it and if things aren't going down well, stop! You will be fine. YOu will be overly cautious and will be fine!!
  24. Let me first start off by saying I am not an overly religious person, BUT I do believe in our time is out time. Meaning God already knows when you will join him, so you can't get around that. Trust that and know that He will get you through this as well as give you a great start to your new life!!! As my mom always says--worrying about it, won't change it, so stop Easier said than done I know! You will be fine! It is a very quick surgery. I was out in less than 40 minutes. You will do great!!!

I Am Crying As I Write This...

Oh, this breaks my heart!! Probably because I have been there. I think we all have at one time or another. It is a crazy adjustment to not have food there as your crutch. It forces you to look deeper into things/feelings and that is very scary. I am right there with you. I agree with the other poster who mentioned counseling. I think you would be amazed the things they can make you think about as these thoughts pass through your mind. It is always good to just to get someone else's perspective. I too am a fan of meds. I take them for anxiety/depression. It just helps to take the edge off. It isn't going to cure you or make you instantly happy, it just helps you to face whatever you are delaing with and get the help you need. My other suggestion....go do something that makes you feel GOOD....manicure, pedicure, massage, but a new skinny outfit, purse, shoes, etc. You can do this!! Show that ex boyfriend of yours what he missed out on!! Don't let him take space up in your heart and mind. He's not worth it! YOU ARE!!
