Surgery Tomorrow.....
XOXOXO replied to HICK CHICK '99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Judy. I am on bp meds & I took it the day of surgery. They asked me if I had as well. The first 2 pain killers after were through the iv & the rest was Panadol & 1 oxecodone orally. I have been taking tabs without a worry. I questioned the nurse but she said its normal. I also talked to Dr & he said fine as well. I felt it the first few days mainly with gas after a gulp of Water. No worries now though :-). -
Why The Liquid Diets After Surgery??
XOXOXO replied to Stacey Flowers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am really struggling with liquids. Can we have plain yogurt on this stage? I am day 5 post op. I am over soups & shakes. -
Wow Elcee. That is amazing. Inspirational. My dr says I can get to 55kg or a bit below. I am actually scared to get that low. I would be happy to get to 60. :-)

YAY Steph. Well done. Rest up - you are done! Xoxo

Surgery Tomorrow.....
XOXOXO replied to HICK CHICK '99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gooduck. All will be over soon. My anethasist gave me some type of knockout that reduces nausea & I didn't feel sick at all. :-). Take others advice - keep up your pain meds! Even if you don't think you need them. While you are in care be cared for. You will feel so much better for it. Prayers coming your way. Xoxo -
Pain Comes And Goes
XOXOXO replied to caramelqueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 8 days off, work 2 & another 3 off. I think I will need the 8 for sure. You have done well going back so soon. Make sure you rest up when you get home . -
Same here guys. This liquid thing is awful. I made some watery pumpkin soup which wasnt too bad. So are we allowed to blend veggies up in soup? I am a bit apprehensive.

Day 1 Surgery And Wondering What I've Done To Myself
XOXOXO replied to Ann_Marie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How you going today sweetie? Xx -
Yes on the 5th. I feel a bit tired. It hurts to get up and down & my left scars hurt the most. The other 4 not a worry. I get a bit of pressure in my chest every now and then, I think it's wind. I have no shoulder tip pain which is good I can drink normally, sipping away on an up and go now. Cups of tea & Soup all good. I have been wanting to eat cheese or normal bad snacky stuff - but that's a habit us smackers have. It's good because you can't eat for 1 weeks just liquids. It's great to have a couple of others the same as me. I am also in aus. Xxxx

Congrats to all new bandsters. How exciting. Great sleeping in my own bed last night, much better than hospital. Feeling brighter which is food. Still sore but easily manageable. No gas pain as yet. Goodluck for all going in today. Xx

Hi there. I was banded yesterday BMI 30. I am the same as you girls - serial snacker. I am on liquids right now & it challenging already. It is very exciting I can't wait to start losing weight & getting healthy.
-
Hi everyone!! I'm all banded!! :-). Yes you were very right smiley, I was incredibly nervous. The sense of relief when I woke up in the recovery room was amazing - closely followed by the ouch, ouCh OUCH feeling. Nothing a few shots of tramadol didn't fix. I am back home now and just woken from a 3 hour catchup nap - the night in hospital was less than restful with my drip pump alarming on the hour! I feel pretty good. I have six scars. The 2 on the left are a bit sore. My dr told me I am one of 40 this month he is trialling with a new port. It's a glue mesh one you hold down on the muscle for 2 mins, no stitches required. It doesn't hurt at all yet. I have only had Water & a sip of apple juice so far and am graduating to a broth for dinner. Happy banding to me. :-). Cheers smiley. Xxx

Good luck my3kidz36!! Hi all I am being banded on the 5th March in the afternoon. Nerves have hit big time. This weekend is shopping for pjs & liquids. Anyone else on the 5th?
-
I mean newme12. Sorry!
-
Thanks everyone. I have an appointment at the hospital tomorrow so I am hoping I will get all the literature then. Wow newme2010 we will be twins! Someone has told me prune juice is a must have. One more question. Do I have to have someone stay with me when I get home from the hospital or will I be ok for the day?
-
Totally agree. My Dr gave me the referral and encouraging me to see surgeon. I was actually shocked at his attitude. A good shock! I didnt think he would consider me. Everyone is right, it's your decision and you are entitled to discuss your situation with a surgeon. New doctor required.
-
Hi. My GP has referred me for a band & my appointment is on the 23rd Feb. I have high BP & a back injury aggravated by my weight & I can only walk for exercise. I have no self control with food & am putting on 5kg a year. Have done ALL the pills & programs which work until I come off them - them bam - worse off. My question is - is there anyone out there that has been in the same situation as me? Did the surgeon recommend the band? Were you rejected? What happened. I am hoping it will be all good. Any info helpful. Thanks.
