Well said, Cazzy. When I begin second guessing myself about WLS, I need to remember the sentiment you have shared. I have type 2 diabetes as does my dad. My dad recently had double bypass heart surgery and suffers from neuropathy. I have diligently attempted to lose weight on my own and have managed to be successful only in the short term. I need a long term solution that allows me to lose more than 30 pounds. A solution that might help me prevent some of the complications my dad has experienced.

I am just starting the process of getting the Lap Band. I go from excited one hour to I am not going to do it because something might go wrong the next hour. I know it would change my life, just scared I guess. Just found this site tonight already feeling better from reading posts. Any advise for someone at this stage???
I completely agree. I feel like I'm watching myself at a tennis match! Yes, No, Yes, No, ...

I don't worry about complications at all because I WILL do what my doctor advises, I will get healthy and this is the tool too get me there.
I love your positive attitude. Thanks!

It's great to see your new message. I think the numbers that you have shared are great, especially for a few weeks out. I am just now considering WLS, specifically banding with plication. I can only imagine that there will be lots of ups and downs emotionally. And...without WLS an emotional down leads to lots of eating and calorie intake, and for me regaining everything I just lost and then some. It sounds like you have worked through the an emotional down. Congrats! Please keep us posted.

Thanks to all for sharing your experiences. I am currently working with a center for excellence, but hadn't considered the implications as they relate to future complications. I'll dig around to see if I can find a study or two or three

Thanks for sharing your experience. How long ago did you have the procedure? Are you concerned at all about eventually have to have the band removed from complicaitons?

I am sooo happy that I found this part of the discussion board AND that the group stayed here rather than being ran off by Mr. Lapband...
I am just starting my WLS journey and I am strongly considering the Iband with plication. Did ya'll stay overnight when you had the surgery? And, did you strongly consider other procedures? If so, why did you decide to go with the Iband?

I am strongly considering gastric banding. In reviewing comments on this site and other available information, I am concerned about long-term complications. Are there people out there that have had their bands for years? It it possible to have a band for a lifetime or do the majority of people eventually have the band removed or replaced? Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Thank you so much for sharing this part of your experience as you were trying to decide on WLS. I feel much the same way! Best wishes in Mexico and in your future with the band!
