Small Appliances and Kitchen Gadgets

I have a old Weight Watchers digital scale that weighs in pounds and grams. I love my Instant Pot. Can anyone give a suggestion for a really good air fryer? I use my Vitamix every day. -
6 Mos Post RNY-Diagnosed with Breast Cancer
Redhatgal replied to Savagegirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 6 years out after breast cancer diagnosis and kept telling myself I needed to eat to keep my strength up for chemo and radiation treatment. I ended up being about 60 pounds “stronger”. Talk to the dietitian in your surgeons office. They know a lot more about the nutritional needs you will have without sabotaging yourself. You are in my thoughts and prayers. -
Tofu and pesto all good until...

On way home from hospital I was feeling good. We stoped at a red light and the most wonderful smell came over me. To my right was a Jack in the Box and to my left was a Carl’s Jr. There should be a law[emoji3] -
Is it possible to do this for the "wrong" reasons?
Redhatgal replied to GayGirlLivingForHer's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Have you discussed your feelings with your surgical team? Seems like at is a good place to start. The opinion of others doesn’t matter. You are in charge of you. Focus on your triumphs and ways to continue motivating yourself. You are worthy! -
Where are all the 50 something bypass patients?
Redhatgal replied to choosehope's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Follow—up from prior post. I had a conversion from band to bypass on 2/21/18. High weight was 385. Pre surgical weight was 306. Came home at 316. I do not feel like I even had surgery. Minimal pain. Constipation is only issue. Was pretty nervous prior to surgery. So happy I did surgery. Full liquid diet now for two weeks. Good luck to everyone. -

Husband threatens divorce if I have surgery
Redhatgal replied to Copper5's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
As a nurse I am familiar with the old enabling trap. We are quick to worry about other people’s needs, loosing ourselves in the process. Sounds like he has issues but remember they are his issues not yours. If you feel like it is right for you, go get the surgery. It doesn’t sound like he is supportive of your needs anyway—-no loss. -

Intestinal gas pain - question

At the risk of sounding stupid—-how much baking soda, water & lemon juice do you use? Just in case I will need it. Will be having bypass on 2/21/18. I am on the preop diet right now and am getting really bad leg/foot cramps every night. Anyone have the same problems and if so, what helped. Normally I would use Gatorade but isn’t allowed. -

February bypass buddies?

I am on day 4 of the pre-op diet and I too am having issues with headaches. It should get better. I am allowed a low carb meal every day for the first 2 weeks then protein drink only the last 2 weeks. Just need to hold tight and go with the flow I guess -
February Rny Surgeries??
Redhatgal replied to deflatingslowly's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I started my prepping today. 5-6 protein shakes and a meal of 3oz. Protein, low card veggies. I totally cannot get out of the bathroom. Should have bought stock in toilet paper. -
Maybe he really doesn’t know what to do for you. You sound like a high achiever and he has never needed to help you cause you do it all. I agree, sit down with him and draw a line I the sand. “This is what I need you to do.” You may have a urge to jump in and do it yourself, but stop yourself. There was a movie years ago that compaired training a husband to training a puppy (sorry guys). It was a funny comedy with a gain of truth!

I use Premier Protein shakes that I bought at Costco and on Amazon. It was on the list my doctors office gave me. Like the comment above, goo protein, loward. Good luck

I would love to be your buddy. I am scheduled for bypass Feb 21st. I am 5' 6" and at 312 now. Have an appointment this Friday to see nutritionist. According to their notebook I will be on Protein shakes for 4 weeks pre-op. I already have approval from my insurance but my surgeon is really booked out hence the Feb 21 date. -

Sick at the stomach after eating. Any idea or suggestions?

Your best bet it to call the surgeons office. Not only can they tell you what to do but they need to know thee things. It could be nothing but it could also be a symptom of a complication that no one on the board can address.
