  1. I had a revision from band to bypass on 2/25, so just over 3 weeks ago. I find that throughout the day I'll get this sharp pain (similar to the feeling of a muscle spasm) on my left side, just under my ribs. Sometimes it even kicks in when I start eating (still on soft /pureed foods). Doesn't usually last long. At night, I can't lay on my back in bed! I get these horrible sharp pains. As soon as I move to my side, it ends. I'm trying to convince myself it's from healing and my body is just trippin' while trying to heal LOL. My doctor did tell me my pain in the left side would be worse and take longer to heal. Anybody else have a similar situation? Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I had the lap band with plication in 2012. I started having problems aboit 6months ago and went to a different doctor. I told her I had the plication and she said "oh, I'm sure it didn't hold... The stitches most likely came out". I just had revision to bypass on 2/25. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    No "sugar-free" for me

If you like flavored water enhancers, Stur is great and they're made with Stevia! Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

  6. I'm in a panic right now I had the lap band in 2012 and started having problems, so I started looking into a revision to bypass. I completed all the required steps the insurance requires (dietitian meetings, Psych eval, stress test, EGD). EGD even showed that my band had prolapsed. Everything was pointing to in the direction I needed to get an approval. Fast forward 3 weeks - I get a letter from the insurance that my claim was denied!!! WHAAAT?!?! I called the doctor's office in a panic.....They said the next step is for them to do a peer to peer with them (which is what they do for people that get denied). I do remember that I was told that revisions usually take 2 rounds of approvals. Maybe that's what this means? Anyway - has anybody gone through this as well? I have United Healthcare. Do they typically approve after the peer to peer? I don't understand why I wasn't approved to begin with. I'm eating tums like they're candy at this point! (because of my issues, not because of the stress of not being approved LOL) UGH!!!!
  7. Thank you, Walter! Me too!!! Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Good news, everyone!!! Peer to peer was successful! It was in fact just a coding issue! They received a verbal approval that same day (Tuesday) and received a written approval today (Friday). Surgery is schedules for 2/25!! [emoji322] Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

  10. Got a little bit of good news this morning... Found out the denial appears to because of coding. They have been told by UHC to use a code that includes the removal of the band and the bypass. Now they're asking for the codes to be separate... One for the removal and one for the bypass. She's confused because UHC is the one that told them to use it! So my Dr has a peer to peer set up on Tuesday with the Medical Director of UHC. FINGERS CROSSED 🤞 Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. They do, which makes me feel better. They seemed pretty confident, I'm just a nervous Nelly LOL. Were you initially denied as well and had to do the peer to peer? If so, how long did it take to finally get the approval? Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. I just recently started papaya enzymes and they work GREAT...sooo much better than Tums!!! I also heard bad results of taking prilosec as well (can't win for losing). Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

  14. Hi everyone! I was banded in April 2012. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. I definitely have not had any acid refulx issues, but holy cow am I "burby"! I don't particularly belch, but just burb a lot...especially soon after eating. It can be somewhat embarassing that they "sneak out" while I'm talking! There's no pain involved (like the initial gas pain), I just burb a lot. Do any of you have the same issues?? Is there something I can do to help prevent them or stop them?? Thanks so much! Laurel

I Think I Ate Too Much

I decided to splurge a bit and have some dessert. Afterwards I felt a bit full. About 10 minutes later i had a glass of water. Holy cow....I now feel like I just ate a Thanksgiving meal (you know, the kind we ate before being banded). I feel soooo miserable!! Please tell me there's a magical way to make this pain go away! I'm actually mad at myself for eating the dessert to begin with....I suppose this is my punishment?!?!

I Think I Ate Too Much

Im not 100% sure (just banded n April, so I'm still a bit new to all of this), but my doctor always says if I'm feeling hungry all the time, then I need an adjustment.

  18. Hi everyone! I'm just getting started with the process of getting a Lap Band. I am soooo excited!! I've been overweight for about 13 years or so. I've dieted here and there and I think the most I ever lost was about 40 lbs and of course gained it back..and then some. I think every year I gain more and more weight. In 2007 I quit smoking and gained 40 lbs! I was skinny growing up and and really miss wearing all the cute outfits! On paper I'm as healthy as can be (except of course my weight), so I wanted to do this now before I do end up with a bunch of health issues. I'm so excited I'm nearly ready to do this now! I think the hardest thing for me will be taking tiny bites of food, chewing them to mush and waiting a minute between bites!! (that was some of the info I read iin a book...is that accurate??). I've alwaysate very fast and taken big bites, so that is going to be difficult to get used to doing, but hopefully I adjust quickly :-) My insurance won't cover the procedure, so we're hoping to go the hernia route, so I'll have to get an EGD. Anybody know how much that typically costs? My insurance should cover that. If you have some good advice, please let me know!! Thanks! Laurel
