Finally Banded!
Sarahbear0429 replied to Sarahbear0429's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Karma-I haven't gone #2 since last Tues! My doc said to grab an over the counter stool softener, like Colace. I got that and took one last night, so we'll see...hahaha. I'm actually not too alarmed by it. Liquid in, liquid out, huh? -

March Bandsters!
Sarahbear0429 replied to princess77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good evening my fellow March bandsters! I had my surgery this morning. Everything went great besides the fact that anesthesia always prevents me from going potty, so I'm carrying around a cathater bag...lol. Can u say "sexy"? Dr. Weaver and all of his staff have been so good to me, and the nurses at Crown Point Surgery Center were awesome! As far as physically, I'm not too bad. Every once in a while I'll get a wave of nausea, but my doc gave me something for that to take if I need it. I'm a little sore in my abdomen, but nothing really worse than how u feel after a kick butt ab workout. But then again, I'm still on my pain meds. I'm sooo excited to start this journey with all of u! -
It's Official-I'll Be Banded March 1St!!!
Sarahbear0429 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello friends! I am so excited right now that I can't hardly sit still! I am scheduled to be banded March 1st by Dr. John Weaver in CO. I am 31 yrs old and live in Blue Springs, MO, so I'll be driving 9 hrs. The great part is that my in-laws are going as well, so we are making a 5 day mini-vacation out of the deal. I've never seen the mountains, so I'm super stoked! We have 4 kids that keep me VERY busy, 3 in school. I have the best husband a girl could ask for, but when it came to being banded, he was very hesitant. He likes the "fluff". Well, the "fluff" has worn out its welcome. I've been fighting my weight all my life, and am now at 225lbs. I've been able to lose weight in the past (for God's sake I could prob write a book on diet and nutrition) but never had the willpower to keep it off. So...here I am, now accepting the fact that I need help. I need something to physically stop this addiction. My mind is in a good place, and I'm ready to commit. I had my consult with Dr. Weaver this morn by phone, and tmrw morn is with the nutritionist, Paula. I start my pre-op diet Thurs of no carb/high protein. Everyone there is AMAZING and sooo helpful. I'm not another number. I will keep posting as my journey continues! -

Considering Dr. John Weaver In Colorado For Lap Band Surgery
Sarahbear0429 replied to purplelady's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well, I haven't posted for a few days, but TODAY is the big day! I go to Crown Point Surgery Center at 7:30am (I've been up since 3) and the anxiety is crazy! I'm not nervous AT ALL! Yesterday I had my pre-op appt. Natalie came in, asked a few questions and took my weight, blood pressure, and then we met with Dr. Weaver. Down 11 lbs! I can't stress enough how thorough he is. We traveled to CO with my in-laws (and believe me, my mother-in-law asks A LOT of questions) and not once did any of us feel that we weren't the most IMPORTANT thing he was doing. He explained the procedure and let us ask questions, but the part that made me most at ease was when I expressed my concern abt nausea, and he showed me the arsinal of meds he would give me before and after. I was sooo scared to vomit after surgery, but fingers crossed....he's got me covered. I was also glad to know that he sutures the band to the stomach. I was so surprised when we left and I asked my husband and parents what they thought of Dr. Weaver. Mom jumped right in and said, "I loved him! He was really nice and I know you're safe in his hands." I guess u gotta know her to be surprised at this statement...lol. Anyway, I'll be back later today for an update! Send prayers! -

I might be in trouble! I started my pre-op diet today, and had an Atkins vanilla protein shake. Well, I should say I "tried" to have one. I have a REALLY HUGE problem with artificial sweetners, and was literally gagging and trying to keep myself from throwing up. I know there are other brands, but my guess is that they're all equally as nasty! Mine must be 15-20g of protein, and under 175 cals. The nutritionist mentioned a no-flavor powder u can mix in with applesauce or other foods, but I can't remember it. Anyway, any ideas how I can get those 2 servings between meals?

Okay, I'm gonna be honest here...no sugar coating. What he did was wrong. Sure he's sorry, that he got caught. The fact that this affair went on for such a long period of time means that at no point in that year and a half was he sorry. Now he is? Sorry, but I'm not buying it. I'd say ditch him. Ur boys need to know what it means to respect a woman, and their father is NOT that example. Every single time u are together, u will be sick wondering if he's thinking of her. Was she prettier than u? What does she have that u don't? U will forever be consumed with checking up on him, and the fighting and your depression/anxiety is not good for your boys. I'm not trying to pour salt in the wound, just saying....10 yrs wasted. Y make it 15 or 20? What's done is done. Take your hot self and find a man who will cherish and respect u. Best of luck sweetie!

This was good to read! I'm scheduled for surgery Thurs, and was wondering how many fills I will need before noticing the restriction. Seems like FOREVER waiting on ur date to get here, and then another FOREVER getting to the green zone. It will come in due time, I suppose. I am just impatient! I wanna get to losing! Just out of curiosity, did u do the fills under fluoro? Thanks for sharing!

5'4", 215 lbs, size 20/22, depending on the brand. I definitely could use some height! March 1st is my surgery date, so those numbers WILL be dropping soon!

Sodas of any kind (frozen or otherwise) have a ton of sugar. I'm not saying ANY of it is good. I'm just sayin if u MUST have a couple sips, I would stay away from carbonation at all costs. But that's just me. -
Ugh! That sucks ur date was moved back. Good luck!

Hi fellow Bandsters! I am scheduled to have Lap Band surgery March 1st! Yay I am leaving state for my procedure, but want to find follow up care including fills here in KC. I am searching docs and found that some use flouroscopy and barium swallow routinely, and others don't. Obviously the x-ray guided fills are more expensive, but I'm wondering which fill approach got u into the "green zone" quicker? I'd rather pay more for a more accurate fill than to go several times (wasting more time and $) to play the guessing game. What are your experiences using both approaches in the first couple months following surgery? Thanks in advance!

Any Suggestions For Liquid Diet???
Sarahbear0429 replied to skin-e-girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told liquids for the first 2-3 days. Jello, crystal light, broths, juice, water. Then the full liquid diet until 2 weeks post-op. V-8, thinned cream of wheat, milk, thinned oatmeal, strained soups...basically anthing that u could drink from a straw, but DON'T USE A STRAW. All docs ate different. I would say do what they say...lol. Good luck! -

It sucks. It really sucks. That's all I can say. Not sure which pre-op diet you're on, mine is high protein/EXTREMELY low carb. I'm allowed meat, veggies, cheese, 1 small serving of fruit, and a small portion of yogurt. I miss my carbs sooooo bad BUT I keep telling myself that no way in HELL am I driving 9 hrs for the doc to get in there and make me reschedule bcuz I didn't shrink my liver. As much as it sucks, we HAVE to do it! I'm sure the 2 week liquid phase after surgery is gonna be sucky too, but I got myself in this mess, I gotta make a commitment....and U DO TOO Good luck! -
Benefits Of Flouroscopy Guided Fills?
Sarahbear0429 replied to Sarahbear0429's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ugh! That TOTALLY sucks! I decided to fo my first fill with the fluoro. I just wanna see everything and check it all out, especially since the local doc doing my fills is a different doc than doing the surgery. -
