How Many Fills To Adequate Restriction?

Thank u all so much for your replies, and I don't even mind being lectured...lol. I'm a very straight up, no nonsense person, and appreciate when ppl are straight forward. From what I'm gathering, we're ALL different, even with the same band. My band is empty, and still I found out very soon certain no no's. White bread being one. I get stuck even with an empty band! I have learned the hard way to take smaller bites and chew the u-know-what outta food. I read an article abt ppl allergic to certain foods, such as peanuts. They knew if they ate them, or even came in contact with them, they would have a SEVERE reaction...even resulting in death for some. The moral of the story is, treat foods u can't have just the same. They are just that, foods u can't have. Y would u choose to eat something if u knew it would cause such a reaction? It is a lifestyle change, but well worth it.

    Lets Do This Together!!!!

Day 2 was the worst for me. The best advice I can give is to stay AHEAD of the pain. Don't wait til you're miserable to take it, like I did. Take it every 4 hrs whether u think u need it or not. I felt a lot of pressure under my ribs, and it was almost difficult to breathe with all that trapped gas. Walk, walk, walk. That was all that helped me. Best of luck. It WILL get better, I promise
  4. I went 10 days with no bm. Finally, on the 10th night I took 2 Dulcolax, and the 11th day...FINALLY! Really wasn't much there (not trying to be too graphic here) but I figured liquids in, liquids out. There really weren't any solids going in to produce much of a bm, I guess?

  6. Hi guys (and gals)! I am 9 days post op and doing well. Still on liquids til the 2 week mark when I start mushies. I'm down 19lbs since the beginning of my pre op diet! Yippee! I do have a couple questions, bcuz for the life of me I can't remember my surgeon's instructions. 1. When can I work out again? 2. How long of not lifting over 15 lbs? 3. Is the "Bandster Hell" everyone is referring to the time I start mushies until I get my first fill? 4. Can I expect to gain weight in those 2 weeks? Thanks everybody!

    Incision Scars

I honestly am not too awful worried about my scars. I mean, with stretch marks and tubal ligation and tubal reversal scars, what's a few more? Lol. I won't be in a bikini, and I'm sure my husband doesn't mind either! But more power to u bikini bods!

    LapBand Lower Class????

My doc went over the stats of all WLS. Though other forms of WLS may cause faster loss, the long term success rates are with the band.

2 Dulcolax did the trick Yay!

    Steri-Strips

I was told to remove the bandages at day 5, and leave the strips another 5. But when I removed the outer bandages at day 5, the strips came off with it! I was completely closed up on all 5 sites, just scabbed over. I am doing fine, so I think u would be ok. Don't pull, just maybe soak them in the shower til they come off.

    Itchy???

I was banded on the 1st, and mine are itchy, too! It seems to be the worst at night, and I'm worried I will scratch my scabs off in my sleep. During the day, I just itch around them, being careful not to touch the actual incision site, so as not to introduce infection. But, yes....it's perfectly normal. We're healing up!

    Pain 1 Week Post Op

I was banded the 1st, and I have been feeling great (besides the gas) since 3 days posy-op. My incisions are uncovered and healing great. Maybe the hernia repair is causing the longer recovery? My biggest issue is that I haven't had a BM in 10 days. Anyone else dealing with this? Hope u all are feeling better soon!

    Post-Op Diet (Liquid)

I'm right there with ya. I was banded March 1st, and I thought the pre-op diet was hard? It has NOTHING on the liquids. I got Campbell's Cheddar Brocolli soup and mixed in 1 can skim milk. The brocolli is so mushy, u can flatten it with ur tongue and it goes down like liquid. I also invested in orange sherbert push ups, and sugar free fudge bars.

    Lets Do This Together!!!!

Well, I don't have much to base it on either....but we have each other! Lol. I feel pretty good, actually (besides the gas and gas pains). I removed my dressings today, incisions look good. I have moved on to full liquids and added runny oatmeal, V-8, orange push up sherbert pops, sugar free fudge bars, and the likes. I could use some more ideas tho! Hope all is well!
  22. Day 5 post-op and I'm feeling awesome! Today I removed my dressings, and was pleasantly surprised at how much smaller the incisions were than I thought. Surgery went well. The staff at Crown Point were great from beginning to end. We checked in at the front desk and I was called back fairly quick. My nurse (Kris) was as sweet as she could be. Once I was changed, I got my IV and a few anti-nausea meds, and soon my family was able to come back. We all got to chat with Dr. Weaver and Dr. DeCampo from anesthesia and ask questions, and then I was wheeled to the O.R. I barely remember anything from that point besides Dr. DeCampo saying, "Ok Sarah, I'm gonna go ahead and make u sleepy now." That was it! I woke up in recovery with some discomfort, but nothing horrible. I remember when I woke from my tubal reversal I thought I was dying. This was a 6 or 7, and pain meds quickly helped. By quickly, I mean seconds. My husband and in-laws came back and we just hung out for a while as I took deep breaths to keep my oxygen up. My only problem was that I couldn't pee, so I walked and drank, and walked and drank some more....and finally needed a foley cathater. Anytime I've had anesthesia in the past I've had the same problem. After being released, I went back to our suite and chilled out the rest of the day, walking around without difficulty. The day following surgery was my worst. The gas pains were rough, and the best thing I could do to work through it was to walk it off. I saw Dr. Weaver for my post-op appt and the cathater was removed, yay! Dr. Weaver checked my incisions and port location and we were on our way. Anyone considering Dr. Weaver should look no further. I honestly wish I had a complaint, but I don't! Since surgery I have had 2 phone calls from the surgery center, and 2 from Dr. Weaver's office just to check up. The people here genuinely care about u and I couldn't have asked for better care!
  23. Hi guys. I am 4 days post-op and all day I've been having this pressure under my ribs. It's even hard to take a deep breath. Almost like the way u feel the last week of pregnancy, uncomfortably full, pressure, short of breath...It's almost like when u eat too much and u feel like u could explode! I'm following my liquid diet 100%, but as I sip I start to feel this fullness under my ribs, almost as if it wants to come up. Not a nauseous feeling, just a feeling of no room like heartburn-ish. Lol. Sometimes I even get the hiccups. I guess my question is, is this normal? And why would I be feeling this restriction if there's no fluid in the band? Or is it even restriction? Thanks in advance!
  24. Good evening fellow Bandsters! Gee, it feels good to say that! This is the first time I can post in the POST-OP section, yay I had my surgery this morning. Everything went great, with the exception of the fact that EVERYTIME I have anesthesia, I can't potty. So tonight I'm walking around with a cathater bag (super sexy, i might add) LOL! Physically I feel pretty good. I've had a couple waves of nausea, but I have meds for that and they've passed pretty quickly. My abdomen is a little sore, almost like the way u feel after a kick butt ab workout. I was up and around pretty quickly after surgery, and for the most part I'm doing very well! I look forward to sharing this journey together!
