My surgery is next week my doctor's protocol is only liquids for 3 weeks and then pureed food for I think 2 weeks after that before I move on to soft foods..

I won't know until the day before my surgery what time I have to be there. They gave you a time already? We've all come this far, can't back out now! LOL

My surgery is next week and I didn't receive any list of changes to make either other then i had to quit smoking..

April 2nd here as well..I too am excited and nervous..Nervous about how I will feel after and adjust to the new diet and excited to start my new journey..Good luck to us! keep me posted..

Welcome and congratulations! There is also a facebook page for all of us having surgery in April if anyone is interested..It's a private group so no one can see what you've posted other then who is in the group..

Was wondering if anyone else experienced this situation. I am having my surgery next tuesday and then in about 3 weeks after that I have a wedding I have to go to. How am I suppose to handle that when no one knows I am having the surgery? First of all I hope I will feel up to it by then, and second of all I feel bad that they will be paying for my meal when I won't be able to eat. I will still be in the liquid phase then, so what, do I bring my own Protein shakes with me to drink or what do I do? Not sure how to handle social gatherings before I get to my food phase.. My Dr's office told me go buy either F.A.S.T. shampoo and conditioner or Garlic (no it doesn't smell like garlic) shampoo and conditioner, they both have helped his patients grow their hair back faster.So I have them both in hand for after my surgery next week, just in case..I was getting Keratin treatments last year and loved them! My hair has never grown faster then it did when I was getting the Keratin..Good luck and as everyone else said, PROTEIN, protein, protein..

My surgeon made it very clear at the seminar that you must quit 2 months before surgery or he will not do the surgery and says that a nicotine test will be done the morning of the surgery and if it's positive he won't do the surgery, that's what just made me realize about the patch..I see him on friday and will discuss this with him because I did quit and there is no way I could have done it cold turkey! Good luck to all of you that are trying to quit, it is the hardest thing ever, but my wanting this surgery so bad was the motivation that I needed to finally do it!

That's great news! I'm around the same weight that you started out as, and my surgery is in 11 days..I can't wait and will be so happy to see the 150's again too!! Size 10? that's amazing, I don't even remember what a size 10 looks like, so you've given me lots of encouragement, thank you and good luck on your continued success!

That's great news Melissa, gives me hope..I would be really happy to lose 54 pounds in 9 weeks! My surgery is in 11 days and I hope I do as well..

Oh no, I hope they don't postpone it for you either! I've been so worried about that myself, that would be just my luck..I'm getting sleeved in less then 2 weeks and everyone at my work is coming down with something and I'm so worried I will get sick right before my surgery! Best of luck to you..

My nutritionist said I could take capsules in 6-8 weeks after surgery.

My co-worker uses it for her baby food and loves it, if that helps..

The capsules would be much easier I suppose but I'm bad enough about taking vitamins and medicines, so 5 capsules a day would never happen for me! LOL..just ordered the powder..

Thanks MrsG...I have my last appt with the surgeon next friday and I will mention it to him so that he knows and no surprises as you said! As I said, I didn't even think of it until the other day, I just knew I quit smoking but didn't even think about the nicotine test with the patch!

Oh great, I just bought a big cannister of Crystal light to have post op, but I didn't know it had aspartame in it! I won't eat or drink anything with aspartame in it..UGH..

I only put in for a week off at work but it will be without pay because I don't have enough vacation time saved up..I thought with FMLA you had to be out of work for 6 weeks or more to apply? Cause if that's the case that I could possibly get paid for it or if I need more time, I may have to look into this..Does this apply in NY as well do you know? thanks.
