  1. Can I ask if any or most of you also excersized after your surgery to achieve these great results?

    A few questions

When I applied last year to have the surgery, my insurance (CIGNA) denied me because my BMI was 39.5! The only co-morbidity that I had was high cholesterol, so they sent me for a sleep study test and I do have sleep apnea. I too made sure on my next weigh in that my BMI was above 40 and I have since been approved but it was a long process for me! Good luck

    The sleeve and hair loss.

I'm scheduled to have my surgery on April 2nd so I haven't experienced that yet. But my doctors office recommended that I buy F.A.S.T. shampoo and/or Garlic shampoo..They said a few patients have told them that it did help with the hair loss. I just ordered mine to be prepared just in case, I ordered it online at amazon..Don't worry the garlic shampoo doesn't smell like garlic, LOL..Good luck with it.

    2 days left!

Good luck ! You are about to begin a new journey, I Hope all goes well for you..Mine is in less then 4 weeks, can't wait..I'm sure your alittle nervous as I know I will be the day before..
  7. Wow, these results are amazing! I can only hope that I do as well..Kudos to all of you..
  8. I have CIGNA Insurance and my Dr's office said it is the worst insurance for her to deal with. My plan required that I see a nutritionist once a month for 6 consecutive months. Last year they denied me the surgery because my BMI was 39.5 and not 40 ! They made me wait 6 months to apply again for the surgery and made me see a nutritionist all over again for another 6 months and have a second psych visit and a note from my primary doctor as well..They were so frustrating but I didn't give up and I have since met the 40 BMI requirement they wanted and was finally approved for the surgery..I am scheduled for April 2nd..You can look up your benefits or call CIGNA to find out your plans' requirements first. Good luck to you.. Kari

    Any April sleevers out there?

Hi Janet...so sorry you've had to wait so long, I've been waiting over a year and thought that was bad! Good luck on your new date I Hope you get it soon...Lucie, my nutritionist recommended Skim Plus to me and it really isn't bad, it's way better then regular skim milk, has a creamy taste to it, worth a try..

Or try skim milk with it..You can also try adding alittle Light cream to it with the water and see if that helps..The orange creamsickle was really good and the banana cream..

    Any April sleevers out there?

Thanks Lucie, I never heard of the Chike, I will have to look that up. I tried the Atkins as well and your right you would need to drink about 8 of them to get enough protein for the day! LOL..The Unjury orange dreamsickle and banana cream were very good. I tried the Jay Robb chocolate today and I just don't like their shakes, they taste like water to me and I even added alittle light cream to it and still didn't like it. I wish I did because his shakes are very healthy for you, oh well. I did buy the Unjury chicken soup because everyone says it's good, but i haven't tried it yet, I will let you know..
  12. My doctor said no Ensure or Slim fast shakes either because they have too much sugar.

    Any April sleevers out there?

Bebee sleeve sisters it is! Love that. Lucie so far I tried the GNC whey banana cream and the Unjury orange dream sickle. Both were very good. I didn't like the Jay Robb tropical something that tasted like water. I have a bunch more flavores to try and can let you know my opinions on them if you are interested. I haven't really found a ready made shake that I like yet, they all seem to have that after taste to me. I'm trying to figure it all out before my surgery so that I have what I like stocked up in the house because I'm sure I won't feel like shopping for alittle while.
  15. Thanks Shotzee, I think I should wait and yes I can't wait and definitely am looking forward to some beach and sun time!
  16. I was wondering anyone's opinion who has already had their surgery. My husband and I are suppose to be taking my in-laws away the middle of May. My surgery is scheduled for April 2nd, do you think I will be up to it by then or should we re-schedule the date since it hasn't been booked yet? We are planning on taking them to an island in the caribbean for an anniversay gift to them but I'm thinking maybe we should postpone it? Do you guys feel you were up to it a month after surgery? Any opinions would be appreciated before we book it, thanks. Kari
  17. Thank you all so much for your input..I think after reading everyone's opinions I am going to postpone it a few months..I didn't even think about the "swimming" issue and that is definitely a MUST on vacation! LOL..I also don't want to spend all this money and then not enjoy it either and take that chance..I guess it's better to be safe then sorry..Thanks..

    Any April sleevers out there?

Lucie my surgeon told me that the reason some doctors make you do the all liquid diet pre-op is so that they can see your liver better when doing the surgery, my surgeon and other surgeons dont' feel the need for that, but some do I guess...Good luck to you I hope you get your surgery date soon..My date is April 2nd, same as you Bebee..

    Any April sleevers out there?

I still have to get all my pre-op tests done as well..Bloodwork, EKG, chest Xray and my doctor requires an upper GI series as well..

    Any April sleevers out there?

My surgery is scheduled for April 2nd! Finally got approved by my insurance after a year of trying. I can't wait but also am alittle nervous to. So far I've tried the GNC whey banana cream protein shake and the Bariatric Advantage orange cream sickle and both were delicious. Trying to figure out what I like before surgery so I can stock up now. Luckily my Dr doesn't require a Pre-op diet. Good luck to all of us, I can't wait to share our experiences together.
  21. I just tried the banana cream for the first time, with skim milk in a shaker with the shaker ball and it was delicious..I also just tried the bariatric advantage orange dreamsickle with water and that was delicious also..Just started trying the different protein shakes because my surgery is set for April 2nd and I want to know what I like now so I can stock up before the surgery..
  22. Well atleast you will be ahead of the game and somewhat used to the diet already post op..It will be a big change for me starting post op..Good luck to us!
  23. Did your surgeon say you have to do a pre-op diet? My surgeon says it isn't necessary so I'm lucky about that..Good luck, you can do it! Just keep telling yourself it will all be worth it..

    My sleep-study is scheduled!

I went for my sleep study and found that I do have sleep apnea. Tonight I go for my second sleep study to get fitted for the CPAP. I'm not gonna lie, I barely slept at all the first time. It was impossible for me to fall asleep with all of those wires and stuff on me, plus the thought that someone was watching me really creeped me out. You do eventually fall asleep and don't even realize it but I woke up constantly. Other people tell me they fell right to sleep and slept fine all night. I'm preparing not to get any sleep again tonight, LOL..It's not bad having the study though, just plan it so that you have nothing to do the next day so that you can catch up on your sleep..good luck with it..

    Post op day 3

Sorry your having such a rough time, I'm sure as everyone has said that each day it will get better..My surgery is scheduled for April 2nd so I'm alittle nervous about it. I'm wondering why everyone is so nauseous, is that from the anesthesia? I've had surgery before and wasnt' nauseous from the anesthesia then, so hopefully I won't be? Feel better soon.
