Week 1 Post-op Advice & Experiences
smmrsue replied to Bree03's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery on Wednesday 10/23, have been doing good so far. Today was the worst and it wasn’t that bad. Took one pain pill today. I stayed one night in the hospital and have been doing good sipping liquids. Sometimes, especially at first swallowing hurt in my stomach, not my throat. Now it only slightly hurts if I sip too much too often. I have not been hungry at all. I know that might change when the swelling goes down, but I like not being hungry. So far so good! Also, probably TMI but I wish I would’ve waited on the stool softener. They offered me two in the hospital and I took them. Went a lot yesterday and being a big girl it was harder to get clean and very uncomfortable. Lol I obviously got clean but it wasn’t pleasant. Wish I would have waited a few days. -
Today is my surgery too! Except mine isn’t until 12 hours from now. Blah. Feeling he same emotions too. Just scared. We can do this though. We have to. Lol

Hi all! I’m on day 6 of 14 full liquid diet pre op for sleeve surgery on October 23rd. About day 3 I started to get really nauseous, continuing until today where I was wretching. Good thing is I’m not hungry, but the bad part is I can barely finish one protein drink a day and just water otherwise. I hope this goes away but I’ll just white knuckle it. Anyone else experience this? Tips? I’ve tried broth, different shakes, sugar free jello, Powerade zero. Thanks!

Thanks everyone! I’ve tried broth and thinning the shakes, but I haven’t tried pickle juice. Fingers crossed it works. Either way, will power through this.

October Surgery Roll Call
smmrsue replied to Panda333's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m October 23 for the sleeve! -
I'm a nurse in the NICU. My babies may not weigh a pound but their transporters and beds weigh a ton. Anyway, take as much time off as you can. I did to much to soon and ended up having a couple if claws that attach my port to my muscle come off and start shredding the muscle. Not pleasant. At. All. Nurses are the worst patients. Let your body heal. Enjoy yourself, learn to live with the band

Surgery Day Is Here!!
smmrsue replied to pjenkinson1970's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is no one there with you? My surgery day was terrifying to me, I almost bolted. I just kept on telling myself one step at a time. Plus I asked for an anti-anxiety med ASAP. I highly recommend it. The first day was tough, but four months out and it's already one of the best decisions I have made. -
Good luck!

I totally hear you. Before I had good restriction I started into old habits. Thanks goodness I got a fill soon after. I can't help with the journaling only to suggest that maybe you don't eat it UNTIL you journal it. That helped me. Having good restriction makes living the band lifestyle easier. It just does. Can you scoot up your appointment? Good luck and hang in there!

The first three days were the hardest and then the last two (14 day ore op). Hang in there! It gets easier!

Calm down, take a deep breath. Book your flight. I almost backed out of surgery, and I was balling the day before. I haven't had the perfect road, and I'm not as fast a loser as some people. I'm changing though, I am losing weight. 55 lbs gone in 4 months. Not too shabby. I've had some complications, but they are being delt with and I would still have the surgery over again. The band is a tool, it's there for you when you need it. You can have it placed and never have it filled if you wanted, which I do not recommend. The point is, you change gradually. You want to change because it works. Support groups help, and I recommend going to one. Good luck! BTW- no you shouldn't drink beer. Maybe a sip, if that, but there are alternatives you can have.

Head hunger. We all have it. I just delt with it today. I find that if I have unhealthy food it makes the head hunger worse, especially the next day. I just keep repeating "It's ok to be hungry" Even though I know I'm not really hu fry and it's just head hunger.

I Have To Get My Port Moved To The Opposite Side...
smmrsue replied to AnnetteT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had pretty bad port pain after I eat or even drink for hours ever since my last fill. Also when I vigorously exercise. I'm curious as to when your port pan is and what ends up happening. -
Congrats!!!! Great NSV

It's probably not as thin as you think it is. You are so used to seeing a different you that you aren't used to it yet. I lose fast in my face too and am also worried it will make me less attractive in the face department. I say give it some time, see if you adjust.

Day 4 And Over Free Fluids!!
smmrsue replied to Treenz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At this stage you should be on liquids only. Soup broth, juice, popsicles. Anything you would be able to drink from a straw., -
I tried a brand combined with something else and it didn't work. My mom got just the ketone and she shed some weight. Raspberry Ketone can not be replaced with raspberries. You would have to eat 9 (or 90?) pounds of raspberries to equal a pill. Hard to do.

Try the surgeons section on LBT first. Great place to start
