Help...post Op Grocery List...
smmrsue replied to tammyg1969's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not worried about Easter this year. From what I have been reading we won't feel like eating at that time anyway. Plus we usually have a big get together but not this year. We are supposed to go to my in laws (yuck) so to me, it's PERFECT timing. Lol. Even my husband is thankful. Anxious? Yes. Excited? Yes. I'm even really nervous for my pre op diet. I've never done an all liquid diet and am just hoping my willpower will hold up. I'm thankful we have a pre-op diet though. It will give me a head start so to speak. My husband has been very supportive. Thank goodness. Do you have enough support? My email address is smmrsue@gmail.com if you need anything -
Meulle just volunteered to take care of my kids, house, business, work, and teaching so I can sleep. Thanks!!!! Thanks for all of the advice everyone. I guess 5 hour is better than nothing...

Girlie- oh yeah. I echo what waitingpatiently says. Nothing acidic at first. I have never had a V8 so I guess it's not an issue with me. Have you tried different protein shakes? -

Girliegirl- I have not informed everyone. Close family, a couple of friends. I could count the number on my hands. Not sure how I feel about it. It depends on who's asking. Working with 100 women who can all see my schedule, everyone is asking. The work rumor is that I'm pregnant for whatever reason and have hyperemesis and BP problems again. That's just weird. I let most of them think whatever. The truth will come out, I'm just not ready for any negative comments. Are you telling people? -
You might be able to have pancakes afterward. Make them thinner with protein powder in them. Justified.

Alerker- I'm stealing a quote from someone I've been repeating to myself. Sorry I can't remember who said it. You're not defeated if you fall down, you're only defeated if you don't get up. Just pick yourself up and try again!
-
Gottobeme- The only suggestion I can give you is the keep on doing it. There are several apps you can try. I used to be the same. Logging one day, not another. I just kept at it until it became second nature. I set an alarm in my phone to remind me to do it daily. That really helped. They say it takes 21 days to make a habit. Maybe I'm a slow learner, it takes double that for me it seems.

I'm going to be off for 6 weeks! I'm an RN in the NICU, and although my babies weigh nothing my doc doesn't want me to move the heavy beds, ventilators, and he wants me to learn to eat and drink at home since I can't leave a critical baby if I get stuck. I feel lucky. I don't know how you and others return to work so fast. -
Have you ever made jello shots? Without being at home with my recipe book I can tell you that you replace liquid with isopure or another protein drink that is not a shake (gross!). I am pretty sure the recipe book also shows a way to make it with powder. I'll find it when I get home.

I don't think she has joined Springers yet but her name is girliegirl.

I'm not on the pre op diet yet ( next week ), but have had cravings. At least you got out of the house! I'm going to vary a picture of me fat around and look at it if I want to cheat.

I'm going to look at it. It's only 5 hours away from here.

I have. A lot of people do it. It's called the last supper syndrome. My husband and I went to my favorite Italian place, Ruths chris, In n Out, PF Changs, and some other places over the past two weeks. The only thing I have yet to eat is pizza. It's weird though, I haven't gorged on these foods, just ate about half and have still been below my calorie requirement. What you are doing is normal, try not to beat yourself up and own it. Let yourself eat it, but watch your portions. If after surgery you can't have it, or it makes you sick or stuck, you're not going to want it, and that's a good thing. Enjoy for now while you're not on the pre-op diet

I'm not on the diet yet. Two weeks before I have to start a liquid diet. I've been experimenting with different shakes, and so far they don't taste too bad. Clear liquids only the day before surgery. I still need to go shopping for a few items for post surgery, like gas x and boxed jello so I can make protein jello. I wanted to make a heating pad with flax seed but will have to settle for rice or corn ( flax is too expensive around here ) but that's ok because the rice and corn still absorb heat well. Are you ready? How much time off of work are you getting?
