4th boob? You're nit concerned with the third one? Lol. Great job! I can't wait to be where you are!

Scorpiolady- lol Ready- you aren't walking around naked. They have you get u dressed and in a gown, when they wheel you back they put you to sleep BEFORE they undress you. Even then, you have sterile drapes over your upper and lower parts so no one sees anything. The sterile drapes help the doctors stay sterile. The only person who will really see you is the person who preps you, and even then it's quick. Other people may be in there but they are focused on their job. So unless you have something cool like a really weird tattoo or a third arm your anatomy isn't interesting to them. Yay. Try not to get freaked out by it.

Day #6 of pre op diet. I'm not hungry, I have "head" hunger when I see something yummy, but I'm avoiding food at all costs. I'm allowed to have 5 Optifast shakes a day, but have really only been drinking 4. I am going to try and get them all in tomorrow. I've also been doing 30 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise on the elliptical a day, whether I want to or not. A big step for me. The first day was the hardest but I lost 5 lbs on that day so it kept me going. I have been weighing everyday, and these last 2 days I have not lost any weight!!!! I have not cheated, I've been doing everything I can and NOTHING. I'm not a cryer. I almost did today. I can't believe not even 0.2 lbs down. I feel dejected. At this point I would have just gave up. What's the point of this if I'm not losing anything? I saw my husband eyeing the scale. I think he's going to hide it. Sorry, thanks for letting me rant.

For this that are on, or were on an all liquid pre op diet... Did/does your tongue feel weird? My tongue feels thicker, I'm on day #6 and I noticed at day 3-4. I am well hydrated as I'm meeting my 64 oz goal. It's a weird feeling. Anyone else have this problem or am I just "special"? Lol. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Cazzy! The fur makes sense. (Ewe!) never knew! TMI, but I brush my tongue.... Guess it's time to bust out the tongue scraper I never thought I'd use. Lol.

How Much Weight Should I Expect To Lose On The Pre-Surgical Liquid Diet?
smmrsue replied to tokiesgirl6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on Day 5 of my pre-op liquid diet and I have lost 8.8 pounds on it, but I haven't yet weighed today. I work out 30 minutes a day on my elliptical. I think the amount of weight you lose also depends on how much you have to lose total. The more weight you have to lose the more you can lose pre-op. It's tough, but you can do it. The first three days were the hardest for me. -
New In Texas And Have Decided To Do This!
smmrsue replied to TexasSoccerMom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Usually they will cover anything over 40 regardless of co-morbidities. I have none, BMI over 40 and was approved no problem. -
Any center that is worth it will be able to read the US and mammogram right there. That way you can make an informed decision if heaven forbid they want to biopsy or what-not. I hope it's nothing, and you should do what's best for you. If that's having the surgery regardless then so be it.

Congrats! I'm so happy for you!

Has anyone post surgery used 5 hour energy? I am a night shift RN who doesn't get much sleep and sometimes I'm just DYING at work. I used to use caffeine to get me through, but now I'm looking for a post band replacement. Any suggestions? BTW- please don't tell me to get more sleep. I LOVE sleep. My bed is my best friend. If I could sleep more I would. I only say this because that was my nutritionists response. Really? More sleep? Wow, never thought of that. Lol.

Good luck! What an awesome accomplishment to look forward to. Plus it is a NSV! I hope to be there one day.

During my pre-op evaluation I had a borderline EKG, they repeated it with the same results. It didn't say what was borderline. I just got a phone call that my PCP is making me come in and have another one tomorrow. Freaking out a little. Anyone else have this happen?

Driving Me Nuts Not Knowing Come On Uhc!
smmrsue replied to shirley36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called my insurance company and found out four days before my surgeons office called. There is no harm in calling. -
Wow. Awesome Judy!

Thanks everyone. I had a repeat done which was normal. I'm afraid even though I'm in the medical field I forget my knowledge when it has to do with me. Thanks night shift RN!

I FINALLY got off of my last supper syndrome diet. Which surprises me because I don't start my liquid diet until tomorrow. I thought I would be eating everything in sight. I'm still apprehensive about the liquid diet but I feel confidant right now (huge for me). I had all if my pre-op work on Monday. My EKG came back borderline, not sure what that's about. The barium swallow was YUCKY! The only other thing I'm worried about is my CBC. If my WBC's are elevated I may have an issue. I'm sure I can show them that its normal for me. In any case, yesterday was my PCP medical clearance. No problems there. I did Zumba for the first time last night and it was a blast! I'm definitely doing it again. And again. Then they had a free nutrition class afterwards and body analysis. It's no suprise my numbers were horrid. Except my bone density. That was above average. It's ok though. That is the last time I will see those numbers. My mind flipped a switch. I'm ready, I can do this, I will do this. I used to think " I can't wait!". Now I think "no more waiting, I AM doing this" There is all sorts of fast food places around the Zumba place, but I went home. I probably should have eaten protein at home, but the thought of food made me sick last night. I was disgusted with food. Even healthy food. Since I joined this site and did all of the required tests and classes I've been preparing. I've gained some confidence. Until last night I didn't have the feeling of finality. Here it is, and it feels wonderful. Ready, set, go! It's a marathon, not a sprint, but I will do it. P.s. Someone please remind me of this when I'm starving from the liquid diet. Did anyone else have something like this happen or was the ready, set, go accomplished when you decided to have it done?

Since I've been on the pre-op diet I keep on looking at the clock. Every hour. It's torturous. Only 272 hours left for me. Every hour I make it is an hour I am proud of. I did break down today and had 16 oz of vegetable broth. I needed something warm. Co sidering it's only 20 ish calories and I kicked my butt on the elliptical today I think I'll let it slide. Since I can have it on the clear liquid day it shouldn't be off limits right?

Help Me ~ I Need A Good Cover Story For Surgery
smmrsue replied to my3sons75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My vote is for hernia. You can say it's just a small one and you want to get it taken care of now before it becomes a problem. That way they know it's more of a preventative surgery. -
This is fun. I'm only afraid of heights when driving up a mountain. I can hardly stand it. My biggest fear is flying. I can't do it. I used to fly all of the time. Now it's a full blown phobia. I have been on planes and had to get off, and someone once tried to drag me on. Drugs and alcohol did not work, and I also tried hypnosis. Airplanes in the sky make my throat close up too. I know, I'm weird.

Readyforchange- your jugular! I would have said "don't even THINK about it". It gives me motivation to make sure I'm hydrated before surgery so thanks for that.

Thanks Scorpiolady! I am so glad the wise women took her skinny self and that blasted skittle bag away from me. The temptation was great. I hope you weighed yourself. Did you? It all got better for me after the scale. I steer away from food just in case. Day #3 isn't too bad so far. It's definitly a day by day battle. I just think of my liver, or look at a fat pic of me, or hop on the scale. It all helps. How is your diet going?
-
Welcome to the group! I'm on day #3 of a two week Optifast shake diet. Then clears for one day. I must say I have never done a liquid diet before and it was brutal the first day. I am not my friendly self. Lol. Getting better though. I jumped on the scale after day 1 and I had lost 5 lbs in one day. It gave me the motivation to continue. It's getting easier, or I'm getting used to it. Either way, I'm hoping to drop 15 lbs before surgery and 5 lbs the first day is a great start in my opinion. Good luck to you!
