As long as you eat right 90% of the time. Think of it as shaking up your metabolism... As long as you don't do it often.

Yay! I know it's a little later than you wanted, but it will be here before you know it.

Lap Band Yesterday, Nausea Today
smmrsue replied to mere0023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is an OTC anti nausea medicine called Emmitrol. It's liquid, a little expensive but works GREAT. Hope this helps! -

Trying To Get Psyched/a Few Questions/a New Life????
smmrsue replied to sunshine412's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have PCOS. I feel your pain. There is a group on here specifically for PCOS bandsters. They seem to have great success, albeit not always at a fast pace. At least it's something. I have not been banded yet (one more week!) and am in the middle of my liquid diet. I've lost 11.2 pounds this first week, even with PCOS. For some reason I didn't lose any weight for three days. I attributed it to my arch nemesis PCOS. The liquid might keep you full longer at first but after that it will pass right through. Your body also doesn't have to work as hard to digest liquids so you burn fewer calories. The solid protein will keep you satisfied longer, burn more calories doing it, and help you through this. No more feeling deprived in my eyes! Good luck! -
Copy the ink and the paste it in your signature area. It will translate as the ticker.

Wondering About Food Processor?
smmrsue replied to Brad P's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I might not be the best to respond to this BUT I do use my food processor daily. I have a Breville ($400). There are WAY less expensive ones. It does EVERYTHING. I never buy shredded cheese or pre shredded lettuce or cabbage or whatever. It does it for me. The slicer can be adjusted between 1 and 6 mm slices. It has nesting bowls. So when I'm post op and making different meals I can just use the small one and make a little without worrying about chopping consistency. I use my immersion blender for soups, but you can make it in there. I use it for chicken salad, egg salad, hummus, pesto, tuna, homemade "refried" beans, potatoes, salad, coleslaw, salsa, etc. I even use it to make Philly cheesesteaks because it slices the meat to the perfect width and tenderness. I got off on a tangent, sorry. Hope it helped. -
Congrats on being one step closer

After Surgery/going Back To Work
smmrsue replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon has me off for 6 weeks. I'm on my feet all day and I have the potential to have to move/push/pull things that are over 25 lbs. I'm glad to have the time off to establish good habits and a routine. -

Loose Skin - Does It Happen To Everyone?
smmrsue replied to Tanio Karam's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't been banded yet, but one of my best friends works at a Bariatric surgeons office. I asked her this question. She said not everyone gets loose skin. If you lose weight too fast or don't work out and tone up you are more prone to it. Genetics play a factor as well. There is always plastic surgery to help after. -
One of the reasons you are on liquids is to make sure where they stitched your band in heals. Even if you don't get stuck your stomach had to contract to digest the food. That makes the stomach work harder and you run the risk of popping a stitch. Which increases the likelihood of a slipped band later. Try and remember this the next time temptation calls.... Better said than done good luck

Thanks Dagmar. I have a feeling my husband is hiding the scale while I'm at work.

Brokenwings- can you have them send it electronically? Fax? Much faster. Never know until you ask...

Maybe we should start a new thread with that specific question?

smmrsue replied to Moonlitedi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I tried it and was not impressed. I just make my own and add unflavored PP. -
I'm in southern Cali too. I used to live in Anaheim, but moved to Menifee. If you start a support group I'd be willing to travel Back down to the OC I did not like the meetings I had attended.
