Hi Springers! I hope all is well. At least tolerable. I have some guilt over taking a hiatus but felt it was essential to my lap band survival and mental health. I wish I would have been there for more of you. Sorry. An update on me. I'm down 53 lbs!!!!! Yay! My goal was 50 in the first 6 months including pre-op, and I made it in 4.5. I am also no longer morbidly obese, and just plain obese. Lol. I have had two fills. Each 3 mls. I am pretty sure I'm very close to my green zone, maybe only 1 ml to get there. My doctors office only does fills every 6 to 8 weeks, my next one being late August. Let me tell you sitting up with a giant needle sticking out of me is weird! I'll never get used to that. I haven't been exercising really. A little but not much. I'm having a horrible time with motivation and using fear as an excuse. I had a complication where it felt like my stomach was being shredded by metal and was excrustiatingly painful. Turns out I was right. A couple of sutures mystery have come off of my port hooks and activity would shred my muscles. O.U.C.H. So I had to take a month off to try and let scar tissue form. I lost weight better in that month. I feel like when I exercise hard I don't lose fast, and I'm terrified of that pain. My surgeon said if rest didn't fix it he would do another surgery to either repair or just rake it out if it wasn't able to be repaired properly. He is NOT taking it out, NO WAY. I love the band now that I have restriction. I mourn bread sometimes and eating all of my food while it's hot, but I wouldn't trade this. I hope everyone is doing well, and I hope to be able to offer support more. Tale care!

1St Really Stuck Episode Don't Wanna Do That Again!!!!!
smmrsue replied to brokenwings's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Since my second fill I have been stuck a couple of times. I have found once I'm stuck I'm done. I can't eat anymore for either the rest of the day or hours. Otherwise I'm asking for it. Sliming sucks. Pretty gross. I will say that I am glad I got stuck. It makes eating not worth it. -
NW girl- I totally test clothes. I had no idea what my real size was until last week. I have been refusing to buy clothes, but with family pictures last Friday I had to have something that fit. I used to be a tight size 24. I fit into 20's in the pants and 18 tops. I was thrilled. Then the day of pics my pants seemed too big. I could not bring myself to try on the 18 pants. I didn't want to be disapointed. I should have.

Revelation While Cleaning Out Closet
smmrsue replied to ElizabethAnne's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's a strange and scary feeling to be doing what you did. At least for me. I recently did the same, sort of. I put all of the clothes that are hopelessly to big in a bag. I was scared I would just gain the weight again. I've been wearing the too big clothes like a crutch. Considering my pants literally fell off of me today, it looks like I still kept some crutches. If anyone is wondering I was at home, not in public. In any case, good job and thanks for the motivation to throw stuff out. -
It's been a while, a long while since I posted. I've been so frustrated it's hard to see everyone in their successes. I was obsessing and made myself take a break. I was hoping for some encouragent and/or answers. I was supposed to go back to work two weeks ago, but ran into some complications. If I walk too much (in reality no more than 1 mile) or do too much

Thanks ladies. I still have my gallbladder and have had a couple of attacks, mostly before I had the lap band. I've only had one since. I'll keep that in my thoughts and ask about my pain being from that the next time I see my doctor. I appreciate the suggestion.

Sorry, my daughter pushed send If I do too much I get a shredding sharp pain from my side. It's coming from under my port. I had an X ray to make sure the port didn't move, and it was fine. I'm not a wimp about pain. this pain is borderline unbearable. Three days ago the shoulder pain and abdominal soreness came back. Abdominal soreness I can deal with and even the shoulder pain to some extent. It just seems like one thing after another, and I'm wondering what next. I'm 8 weeks out, and willing to wait this out. I was wondering if anyone else had this and how it was fixed, or what helped. Thanks!

How Do You Deal With Your Family Eating?
smmrsue replied to Megan92877's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The good thing about Toddlers is that you CAN teach them good habits. YOU control what goes in their mouth. They will not starve. They WILL test you, and try and wait for the "good" stuff. It's tough for a couple of days but you can do it. If I put Hummus and veggies in front of my toddler (who likes these things), and also have chicken nuggets in site, or something else, then she holds out for it, or screams, or other typical toddler behavior. I move those out of sight, she gets hungry, and eats healthy. I also found a way to bake chicken nuggets so that they taste fried but are not. I have no advice for the husband other than to have a talk about respect. I had to have that conversation with mine and fast food is no longer allowed inside unless I'm eating it too. Other than that he gas HORRIBLE manners. -
125 Members So Why Are We So Quiet???
smmrsue replied to brokenwings's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm here, just quiet lately. Getting depressed about no weight loss while following all the rules, exercising way more than I have, and still struggling with getting all my calories. Inches lost are great, but it would be hard to have a 28" waist and still weigh 258 lbs. Grr. I know. -
Deb, hoping you are just as calm as you were yesterday at this time. Your attitude is inspiring. You'll do great!

I'm not sure that anyone else in this thread is still an active member. I live in Menifee, was banded on 4/5/12 and haven't found a close group. I was really hoping for one. There is one in Riverside and Corona. I've never been to the Riverside one and I DO NOT recommend the Corona one. If you find anything out let me know

Saggy/ Deflated Breast?
smmrsue replied to jessicarage's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When you have F's, they are too heavy. Losing weight means they will get smaller too. Can't wait to be thin and have a breast reduction and reconstruction. -
Good luck!

I'm 260 and have been doing Zumba since two weeks before surgery. Since surgery I've only been once, it's really hard to jump and stuff right now. I'm going to try it again next week. Lots of fun. I think the key is to find a class you enjoy without snobby people.

Dhales- scales are pretty cheap and small. I have no problem sticking it in my purse, but then again, I'm WEIRD

Smmrsue appreciates the ban on fried chicken strips. Tonight I'm making Argentinian steak with lighter Chimichurry sauce and green beans. Very low cal, lots of protein, and super delicious.

Idaho mom- you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know the oncologist is a scary place to be. Keep your head up! You sound to be doing rather well, and thank goodness they found it!

Welcome Mendy! I'm sure you'll find lots if help and advice here, I certainly have.

As I type I'm figuring out what being stuck feels like. . Ate slow, chewed well. I never want to see a deep fried chicken strip ever again. That's what I get for eating that junk anyway. I haven't lost weight in two weeks. Yesterday was the first day I reached 900 calories. Every other day it's been around 600. I never had heartburn before being banded. Now, if I drink water anytime in the hour before bed I feel the wrath of my body revolting. What on earth did I do to myself? I could deal with the pitfalls if I were losing weight.... But I'm not. It's so hard to follow all the rules my doctor gave me and still not lose this close post op. Sucks.

Good luck tomorrow Laura at and anyone else being banded

Thanks so much ladies. You are both right, in everything you said. The band not working for me or the fact that I have some horribly flawed metabolism has been one of my biggest fears. Not losing weight in over 2 weeks AND eating less than 1000 cals a day just adds fuel to my fire. I know the band is not a quick fix, I never wanted one, just help with Portion Control and weight loss. I guess I'm wondering what a fill is going to do for me. I don't eat more than 1/2 a cup, I'm not hungry unless I accidentally go 6 hours between meals. I think I got the post surgery blues a little late. I'll keep blazing forward, but for now, I'm down in the dumps. Thanks for the support ladies. Both of you have been the biggest supporters here for me, and I owe you both.

I have a Polar T4 that I use. I forgot to wear it to Zumba last week, but I will tomorrow!

Question About My Teeth
smmrsue replied to Shannon28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never got the build up on my teeth, but I had a weird build up in my tongue. Someone said it was from the protein shakes or liquid diet. I did some research and when your intestines don't have to go through peristalsis like they should bacteria and normal flora come up and gather in your mouth.
