Did U Tell Or Not? If Not..what Was Your Story?
smmrsue replied to iriegirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm still grappling with what to tell people, especially my work. On one hand, it's just none of their business, and on the other hand if they ask me I tell them. It's weird, I'm usually not so indecisive or reclusive. I have told my close friends and family, but I'm having hard time with my co-workers. They all can see I'm not scheduled in April and some have asked, so I told them. I was apprehensive in doing so. So far no negative feed back, AND hopefully it will keep me accountable at work. -

smmrsue replied to smmrsue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well that's just to easy now isn't it -
Hi, I'm new to this site and have a question. I am scheduled to have lap band on April 5th, but have recently just found out about lap band and plication. Dies anyone know if they do this at Orange coast medical center in fountain valley? Dr. Leports group? Thanks!

I live in Menifee and will be banded in early April. Is this thread still active?

That's great news! I hope the rest goes by smoothly. 31 days left for me, but who's counting?

Saz do not give up. The first week is always the hardest! Don't think in terms of how long you have to do it, that will drive you crazy. Day by day or hour by hour. You will be fine, we are here for you! I'm sure we can find food for you to eat. I heard some people eat qinoa (sp?) which is a protein that is similar to rice and pasta but is ity bity and will fit through your stoma. I will start looking for other things. . Your life is not over either. It's just beginning. Eye on the prize! Think about the vacation to the states you were talking about. It would be cool to have a meet up in a couple of years. I have PCOS too. I am 31, an RN in California. I will be banded on April 5th. PCOS was a contributing factor in the demise of my first marriage ( plus the ***** down the street- but nevermind about her). I know how difficult losing weight is. We all do. We will do this. It's not going to be easy, but it will be worth it. I think the more buddies we have the better our success. I'm available here, or you can email me at smmrsue@gmail.com I think it's great three of us are being banded so close with similar issues.

Good luck!

I made protein pudding at it was so good. Maybe try that.

Put chicken noodle soup (preferably homemade) in a blender or food processor. That should work. Or chili, any soup really.

What Would You Do If You Were Me?
smmrsue replied to Caribear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is my understanding that insurance companies can no longer deny you based on pre existing conditions. That, however has nothing to do with premiums. Regardless, a high premium will usually be less expensive than forking out lots of cash for the surgery. With that being said, if he is just your boyfriend why wouldn't you still get Medicaid? Unless I read the post wrong. If you are able to get another insurance plan some require a supervised diet anyway so I would definitely stck to it until you see how things shake out. That way you are already done when you get approved, or if you self pay, the extra support did not hurt you. -
Hi, my name is Summer. I am 31 years old, mostly happily married, mom of a 10 and almost 2 year old. I am an RN who works night shift which presents it's own special challenges to diet and exercise. I am pre-surgery right now. My surgery is scheduled for April 5th. Yikes! I have lost 4 whopping pounds so far, but each pound is a victory for me. No longer with that number ever appear on my scale. I will hopefully lose about 160 more. I do not have a specific goal weight in mind yet as I am focusing on being healthy and setting small goals for now. I don't want to fail because I don't weigh 120 lbs, yet when I was 120 pounds in high school I was to skinny. I am looking for someone to encourage me, keep me accountable, offer advice, and give me hope. I hope someone out there can do that. If you are local, great! (I live in Menifee, CA) If not, oh well, I still need you. Thanks! Summer

Thanks. That's how I was taught anyway.

Unfortunately the meds they give you did not kick in before I had one done a couple of years ago. Do you really want to know? You are gagging the whole time from the tube they stick down, burping because of all of the air. I'm not trying to scare you, but make sure the meds have kicked in before they begin. I'm dreading having this test done. I know it will need to be, but I'm going to try and see if he can use my results from two years ago {wishful thinking}

Yay! Congrats Everyone!

Good luck! Ladybug- it's fortunate they will move ahead before the approval. I'm glad your RN daughter will go with you. What a comfort!

Gonna Be Banded In March:-)
smmrsue replied to ambitiousgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PCOS is polycystic ovarian syndrome One of the main treatments for it is weight loss, but the hormones involved make it harder to lose weight. Go figure. It causes infertility too, along with other unfortunate things. -
Goodness. 6 weeks. Makes the two before and one after not seem so bad. I'm trying to convince myself to do 3 weeks before. You are giving me inspiration!
-
Gingerwale. I laughed so hard at your list. Love the part about making the other woman jealous and dating any old loser. ROFL
-
Great job Ladybug! I hope you get that approval soon. When does your surgeon think the surgery will happen?
-
Apparently I don't check my updates section enough when I've been working. I just now saw all of this. Thanks for asking wonderful questions Lovebug, and thanks for answering Smiley! I still need to go and get my Biotin. I made a turkey dinner last night and made turkey broth for the stuffing. The extra broth I froze to use on the liquid phase. I'm getting anxious to start on a liquid diet as I've never been able to stick to one. I get dizzy, cranky, and semi lethargic. I'm going to try my hardest though. Who knows, maybe my surgeon won't require a 2 week pre liquid diet..... Yeah right.

Most places have you start two weeks prior to surgery, others one week. There is no harm in calling to ask.

Allergic To Protein Shakes...can I Just Drink Milk?
smmrsue replied to Justin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What about egg whites? Jay Robb makes a protein powder made from them.
