All You Amazing Banders Recipies!!!
pmartin323 replied to Banded20/04/2012's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The following is what my RD told me. 3oz. Protein...lean 1/2 cup vegetable 1/4 cup carb vegetable If you are able too eat eggs then a boiled egg is a common breakfast item. Remember to eat 5 times a day....your 3meals and 2 Snacks. Beast of luck. -
Broccoli and cauliflower have been 2 of the worst for me about getting stuck. I suggest really making the broccoli tiny and smaller bites. I also sip a little water to aid in rinsing the tiny balls down.

Anyone Have Gallbladder Removed After Band Surgery?
pmartin323 replied to feliciadawn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is very common that our gallbladders have to be removed after banding. Mine had to be removed this past February. As far as surgeon messing up ur band I would suggest going to a GI Dr. Who does the gastric surgeries because they are use to dealing with the band's. Best of luck. -
I made these after seeing your post. They were really good and my husband said it was a keeper.

Maybe the chicken was too dry or you didn't chew enough. What you are experiencing is normal for a stuck episode, and I have had the episode last 2-3 hours as well. The only thing that I noticed was my Dr. Had me on liquids 2 days after my fill, as well as 2 days for each stage that follows.

I have a band, and in Feb. I had my gallbladder removed. While he was in there he did a plication/imbrication also since my lb has not been as successful as he or I wanted.

Just start out walking. Set little goals for yourself such as walking a block for 2 days then increase to 2 blocks and so fourth.

Lapband And Hair Loss
pmartin323 replied to Trina P's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hair loss is coming and you are batteling 2 things..... 1) lack of or decrease of Protein. 2) anethesia they use has hairloss as one of its side effects. You will notice the hair loss around the 3-5 month post-op. Mine was 3 months. -

LOL...I was so excited when I could cross my legs. -
My Dr and RD have always suggested that most proteins come from food, and most of mine do with the exception of breakfast as I cannot eat eggs which is a great source of protein. Prior to my surgery I was a frappachino-holoic and found that I LOVED the believe cappuccino (bariatric eating site). They are a bit pricey as well as the s&h, but they helped me get over my frapp addiction and it was a taste I got use to. Best of luck to you.

More than likely the hairloss is due to 2 things. The anethesia that is typically used has as its side effect.....hairloss. the second reason has to do with protein. I agree with the other posters that Hilton will be helpful.

My weight has been stalled for the last few weeks. I have reviewed my food journal just to make certain nothing is out of the ordinary, and every thing is good and on target. I'm exercising several days a week, and get more than enough Water. What have any of you done when your weight loss stalled? Thanks, P

Thank you all for the help and ideas. I should have thought of these myself, but i have just been so frustrated.

pmartin323 replied to Spacegirl37's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The carbs are within our limits. Their stuff is actually tasty....if you love reuse cups, then their Choc peantbutter bars are good....no, not exactly like a reese cup but it is good, and the strawberry cheesecake bars are great. -
Found A Way To Eat Around The Band

Don't do it!!!! Yes it is easy, but you will find yourself skit.g it more and more. What I did was to make sure I did not buy my family snacks that I liked. This way i avoid temptation. Recently my Dr. Office opened a nutrition store. And they have protein chips. And when I want chips, that's what i eat. They are by a company called health wise out of grovetown, Ga. WWW.healthwisenri.com their flavors are......bbq, ranch, salt and vinegar. They have much more protein than lays...lol. -
I wish both of you the best!!! Go ahead and get ur ideas together for your 2 weeks of liquids, soft, pureed, etc. And stay away from potatoes during the soft food stage they r high Carb and do not help in weights in the long term. Again, I wish you both the best.

It was difficult for me to get use to as well. They way I sorta got around it was to eat no sugar added fruit.

Oh goodness I made the mistake of drinking soda about a year ago, and i vowed that I would never drink another carbonated drink again in my life. It was the most painful thing ever. Needless to say....I learned my lesson.

Depends on Insurance mainly. There are a lot of hoops to jump through before you actually get a surgery date. From my seminar to surgery it was 3 1/2 - 4 months.

For me it is more of a comfortable or satisfied feeling instead of full. I always measure and weigh my food. Now if you are feeling full at the top near the band, you may be getting stuck. Make sure you are chewing your food very well.

We have 2 things working against us when it comes to our hair loss. One is less Protein and the second is the anesthesia. Biting will not stop it , bit will make what is growing back stronger. I am 3 months out from having my gallbladder removed along with the plication and my hair has just began falling out this week and i know I have a few months to endure.
